  1. Isn't that new track from Keane a pile of poo?
  2. The main worry for me at the moment is the posturing and lack of movement from Benni McCarthy. Far too many times he dropped deep and then started waving his arms about like a traffic warden when there was no-one to pass to. His movement in and around the last third is poor, especially compared to Roberts who is always available and never shirks a 50-50. I know it's early days but in Roberts I feel we have a player we can identify with and will work his socks off regardless, I'm yet to be convinced in the workrate and attitude of McCarthy.
  3. Brought this back to the top as I was fully expecting a new volunteer to have taken up the reins on the article. What's happened? Has it been discontinued to allow further Cummings led Burnley dominance in the pages of 'our' local newspaper? I can't believe for a minute that there were no suitable candidates who threw their hats into the ring. Anyone shed any light on it?
  4. I can't believe that 12 chins Matteo has even got a squad number. Has he ever been better than mediocre? The fact he's getting paid a handsome wedge for being so just rubs a cellar of salt into the wounds. Thankfully he'll not be troubling the first eleven when the season gets underway...will he?
  5. Wahey!!!! Ashanti Prince got his first win at Belle Vue last night in the 8:05. Flew out of the traps and hit the first bend in the lead and kept two lengths clear all the way to the line. Fantastic stuff. Tell you what, it may have only been for £67 but if you could bottle the feeling of watching 'your' dog win it'd sell for a fortune. Mind you we did have a few quid on it at 9/4 to claw back some of what we'd lost in previous races. Onwards and upwards now, he'll go up a grade and probably run next week. Now he knows what the game is all about don't bet against him winning again. Oi Oi Ashanti!!!
  6. Oh pllllleeeease, The Spice Girls at 21!!!!! Are you sure this is a Guardian piece and not something from Viz?
  7. You'll never get that idea being used, far too radical. Remember change is not good.
  8. For those of you following the perennial loser that is Ashanti Prince, he is running in the 8:50 at Belle Vue on Saturday. After two races as beaten favourite I think there may be some value in his price and if he runs the bends better he's got a real chance. It is a big 'if' though. Our trainer has another running at Belle Vue tonight called Bright Cruiser. Get on!! Monster monster.
  9. Well if Mark Hughes can help the luggy one recapture his form of many moons ago he's not just a good manager but a bloody magician.
  10. Sorry fella. If he stopped running so wide at the bends he'd have won a do by now. He gets in front but for some reason won't run on. Time for the trainer to earn her dough I think!
  11. Not good unless you own a top class one. For instance our dog will win the princely sum of £67 on Thursday if he gets his head in front but we get £22 just for him running. Conversely the great Westmead Hawk (sadly injured and ran his last race last night) won 100k for winning the Derby this year. At the end of the day we're in it for the fun and we've already had two great nights on the back of it.
  12. Thursday 7:25 at Belle Vue Jim. We're hopeful.
  13. Me too Krislu. Nine years old he is now and mad as a box of frogs but what a handsome devil. Ashanti Prince ran last Thursday and came 2nd again, this time by a neck. I just hope he hasn't got seconditis and he can break his duck soon.
  14. Dog came 2nd and lost by 1 1/2 lengths. He was second to 1st bend and then ran very wide losing about 5 lengths to the leader, closed up to within 2 lengths on the back straight, ran wide again and lost another couple of lengths and came back in the final straight to 1 1/2. Front two finished well clear of the rest which is a good sign. Ran a good time of 28.82 and there appears to be plenty of improvement in him yet. Hopefully he'll stay fit and we can win a couple of races with him. Great night as well, would recommend it to anyone.
  15. The dog's called Ashanti Prince and he's running in the 8:35 at Belle Vue tonight. Can't see it winning tonight but will have to back it anyway just in case. For anyone interested in going it's free admission on every race night during the World Cup.
  16. Fair play to the Germans though, they've kept the arena in Nuremburg (albeit in a state of disrepair) where Hitler spoke to thousands as a reminder of the past and how lessons should be learnt.
  17. Bought a greyhound with some friends last month and it's his first race at Belle Vue this Friday. Very much looking forward to it and although we're hardly going to be able to retire off the prize money it is still pretty exciting. Just wondered if anyone had ever owned (or still does own) one and what their experiences of it were/are.
  18. Can't see how that could work, their two holding midfielders would leave a huge space for other side's midfield. Keep the four defenders to cope with their three attackers, push the wide midfielders on past their 'glorified' full backs and the defenders are getting pulled all over the place. He must have had bloody good players to get away with it that's all I can think.
  19. Good shout theno. To me it's quite obvious that he's angling for a move away after the world cup. The fact that he's put contract talks 'on hold' despite the club trying to tie him down for the last 6 months sets the alarm bells ringing big time. On a slightly related theme, I played golf at Turton golf club the other week and the course surrounds his house. What a pad that is.
  20. Hissy fit, over-reaction, call it what you will, the comments of Lucas were ill-advised to say the least. I'm friends with a couple of Millwall fans and their opinion of Lucas is that he's a bit of a legend in his own mind and believes he should be playing for AC Milan never mind Blackburn Rovers. It's only my opinion but I'd be very surprised if he starts next season at Ewood.
  21. I'm sorry but anyone who can say "I don't care if we're in the doldrums for the next ten years as long as we appoint an English England manager" is a total numpty. Obviously the three months spent at Turf Moor have had a debillitating effect.
  22. Glad he's gone mainly because he fragmented the play with his constant fouling and appealing for free kicks. Also as has been said before he never linked with another striker, and for all those Pongo haters out there at least he made a good strike partner with Bellamy. Yes he worked hard and yes he gave 100% effort but for a team striving towards year on year improvement his style of 'ale house football' was never going to be good enough. What price are City to go down??
  23. Thanks very much to you all. Just thought after three years everybody knows my viewpoint and I'm just basically repeating myself so it's in everyone's interests that someone else has a go. God knows there's enough people who post on here who would make a decent fist of it. There's the added bonus that my wife and kids get a husband/dad who will talk to them instead of being stressed over a PC into the early hours of a Tuesday morning. Drog, not sure about Mr. Cummings lately, he has been particularly scathing towards the powers that be over there. To be honest he should take a leaf out of my book and stand down, he's been doing it far too long now. Maybe there's not enough of the neanderthals who can string a sentence together to take over from him though.
  24. 404948[/snapback] Ah, the board of the Darwen League Thursday night champions 2004/2005. Makes me go all dewy eyed, lovely stuff. Did you not get in on a Friday night dillo for 'pint and a fight night'?
