Strewth, from the power house of Hibernian FC and Scottish pub football 🙈 No doubt been fully briefed by the one never to be mentioned who was previously up there in some role. Be gone Swag and the Pune 4, 14 years ago Blackburn Rovers was a pleasure and now it is a millstone that we supporters can’t drop.

You may wish to see his entire CV, he is only 43 but has had some career so far.

Well no one can say he isn’t qualified!

On paper this looks an excellent appointment.

This is from 11 years ago:

Owen specialises in football-specific conditioning and injury prevention techniques. He has attained a degree in Sport and Exercise Science and is recognised as a leading researcher in the area of 'Football Science'. The Welshman, who began his football career as a player with Wrexham, also holds the UEFA Professional Coaching Diploma and, as well as working at Rangers, has held a role with the Football Association of Wales.

Owen also hopes to be one of the first and youngest people in Europe to obtain both the UEFA Pro Licence and PhD in 'Football Science' and is currently working with Lyon University in France.

  3. I think Gregg did a brilliant job in getting players signed up to long term deals- this will come in handy moving forward.
His transfers are mixed- however ultimately there were far too many duds, especially with the loans.

The statement on the website says a lot about how he left, class less in my opinion.

What on earth have you seen that makes you think he's a fine manager? He's been dire with us and has been dining off of a short burst of results at Brum in the gap between clubs.

Arguably, Wharton aside, he has a better squad than JDT had because a lot of the injured players came back when he took over, and yet still he can barely scrape points.

Wharton aside lol. Literally the only top class player in the squad and the one who could find that killer pass- what have been struggling to do over the last batch of games?

eustace keeps us up? Good job and let’s see what he can do with his own team.

this squad lacks any creativity or pace and I think he has done enough now to stay in the division.

  5. I said it at the start and I’ll say it again, Eustace is a very good manager and I can’t wait to see his team in August. To come back from a 5-0 hammering and then beat Leeds at Elland Road, whilst keeping a CS, amazing!

lets hope the sides below us lose today and then there will be less pressure next week!

  6. I haven’t responded until now, but I think Eustace is a very good signing as manager.

he is clearly hindered by a number of factors and the time to judge will be Christmas 2024 where we will see with a pre season, a transfer window and time to implement his ideas what he is about. We are clearly more solid at the back and today’s result shows that we can still be attacking going forward. Another win and a draw and we should be safe.

Blimey, there's some dewy-eyed romantic view of the Tomasson era on here when the reality is he's left the club in the middle of a relegation fight after a calamitous sequence of results. Ambition and optimism and a good personality are fine qualities but a coach also has to know to organise a defence properly and set up a team not to give away soft goals. Tomasson was a busted flush IMO, canny Championship managers had him and Rovers worked out in the second half of last season

    💯

Foe a start he hasn't got a striker worthy of the name. Our squad is also short on numbers as the injuries mounted up.

Exactly as forecast on here. IfJDT didn't "moan" in these circumstances it would be very odd.

If we look at that team that started vs QPR we should be beating them. I’m not talking about being top 6, we should be better than 5 points in front of the bottom 3!

  9. JDT- I like him as a person and clearly has a style of play that he wishes to play.

However, he is the COACH. His job is to make the players better players.

Look at the state of the goals conceded this season- thats not on Venkys or management.

I am tired of the moaning and groaning about the lack of players- he has enough players to make us a competitive side.

I think Wagott and anyone else who is complicit in the McGuire transfer should be fired but JDT should be right behind them.

  10. So it’s finally over!

My two pennies for what it’s worth…

    1. we clearly couldn’t spend any money this window so all the signings have a kick the can down the road vibe.

    2. We should survive but don’t expect much more from this squad.

    3. We have added experience to the squad which I am happy about.

    4. The owners have decisions to make in the summer. If the money issues are resolved then they have shown that bills will be paid and then perhaps we get to spend 10 million out of the 23 million we will have sitting somewhere. (It’s the hope that kills you!)

    5. McGuire- I’m glad we did the right thing and signed him. He also has much needed pace and movement with the ability to finish, I am excited to see him play.

    Do you really believe that?

The bottom of barrels are being scraped here. Ditto McGuire.

We've £20m in the savings account now (allegedly). These freebies only indicate to me that they never had any decent long term signings lined up and don't intend to spend our newfound riches on players

2.5 mill for McGuire and 500k for the defender?
