Classic diversion and distraction tactic from Broughton here.
We don't hear from him for months, something he accepts responsibility for goes belly up and he talks about a player he wanted to sign in the Summer.
They insult our intelligence.
Is that not a valid point though? Ex premier league pays more than it can afford and we lose out? We are seemingly playing a different game at the moment… looking at the City situation.

I have to say after Greggs interview I am satisfied that he deserves a chance.
everyone makes mistakes and this was collasal. He said processes would be looked at and changed, positive news. We can’t do anything now but just see where we are after 18 games but a massive lost opportunity:(

I can’t even.
a dark, dark day and we have had a few.
im generally positive but this has put a dampner on everything.
our midfield gets bullied every game and we have, through sheer incompetence lost the best midfielder in this league last year.
a statement needed by the club, today.

Wow O Brien was the best CM in the division last year.
If we get him, what a marque signing… it isn’t going to happen is it 😞

Krasso striker at Saint Etienne has an expiring contract..
A classic target man, Krasso is superb in the air, but without sacrificing much in the way of movement or energy. While Sainté have struggled this season, it’s not for anything Krasso has done wrong. Displaying a talent which belies his physical gifts, his dynamism is elemental to the team’s pressing while his passing can be almost audacious at times.
Clever with the ball at his feet and possessed of a fine first touch, Krasso’s catalogue of feints, touches, and layoffs is impressive indeed

16 goals in 32 games in Belgium top league.
Never seen him play but hopefully a loan with a option may be decent.https://www.ligue1.com/Articles/ONE-TO-WATCH/2022/05/10/ike-ugbo-troyes-psg-slaying-striker
Watch the goal vs PSG! That’s a decent finish 🙂

Truly desperate Stuff . Age 24, never played for parent Club Chelsea - been to seven different Clubs on loan throughout his career. One goal in thirteen in Ligue 1 this season. Career total of 4 In 46 in England.
That would be two strikers brought in this season who have no idea where the back of the net is at this level. Is that Greg's key criteria for bringing someone in?

You are going on the transfer list. We will invite offers. Should one be acceptable (and anything over £8million should have been) you either accept the move or rot in the 'ressies' until your contract is up. What do you think Brereton would have done?
If Broughton hasn't got the expertise and gravitas to deal with our owners then he shouldn't be in the feckin job. He needed to sh1t or get off the pot.
You are funny Mercer.
we are not Man City where we can afford to have our best asset sat in the ressies. Your mentality may work in a corporate world but not when you are working with people and creating an environment where people want to play for us.
Broughton has literally signed up a lot of our best up and coming players to long term deals. Created an entire scouting network including a European one. This is all in months. However you are right this is evidence that he has been a failure.

Or just someone that puts one of our four golden chances today in the back of the net.
Ultimately that’s for the manager to find. I like what he says but we regardless of us missing those chances we conceded bloody 4!!

The plan is there, I see it.
however if the manager does not succeed, plan needs to adapt and you get another manager who fits into your model, aka leeds (Marshe isn’t working but they will get someone else who does).
Today was a joke, we need a couple of proper ‘men’- central midfield being one and centre half being the other, this team has no backbone. Plenty of talent but you can slice through us.
Not JDT out yet- but a firm waiting for a drastic improvement by Easter and then I make a decision.

Give it a rest.
Delap who has scored 3 goals in 22 games in the league and has never hit double figures- Mercer reckons he double figures.
Rates Lowe as a manager who before Preston was a league 1 manager- but reckons JDT is rubbish and we ahead in the league and he has won league titles.
I think we should wait and see who we actually sign because we seem to get our business done without people knowing and that’s a great thing.- 5

interested article, he is definitely not a tackler but more of a Morten type.

The fact they immediately sent him out on loan with an option to buy tells me they were just trying to protect their investment and maximise their return. He had a year left on his deal before he signed it so his market value was reduced.
I just meant that clearly Leicester feel he is a player and at least championship level, considering he has proven himself at league 1 already. Some of the comments on here have suggested he is not even a professional footballer (!)

Clever business would have been to sign someone with ability. Hirst has only returned because Leicester said so, and he cost us points in the absence of an adequate striker being signed in his place.
Yet Leicester, a premier league club, gave him a long term deal before sending him off on loan… so im guessing they see some ability in him?

Think there were many of us in the same boat as you!
The really scary thing is it seems we were actually trying to buy him! Sharpe in LT "Hirst was Rovers’ number one striking target in the summer, and the club had permanent bids rejected by Leicester City who later extended his contract before loaning him to Rovers". That would have been an unmitigated disaster.
Not sure Broughton would know a real footballer if one smacked him in the face. Equally, JDT must have sanctioned the bids. It's enough for one to break out in a cold sweat!
That line about Broughton, on what do you base this on? One loan transfer made with a few weeks to go of the transfer window? Of the three permanent transfers one is probably player of the year contender so far, one is a massive upgrade at RB (his injuries have been unfortunate) and Sammie who has made some contribution in goals and assists. This summer is where I’ll judge his transfer record but his role is across the football club and not just transfers.

Third in the league and he's dismissing any chance of promotion.
Dolloper, dick head, bullshitter.
Could you imagine that kind of bollocks coming from the likes of Souness or Hughes? Me neither.
English is what his third language? He has said on numerous occasions he wants top 6, think he was dismissing automatic promotion.
Half way and third speaks loud enough to me. New squad and having lost a lot of players over the summer.- 1

The big positive for me is that players are being signed on long term contracts, especially the young players that we have developed, that is a marked difference from the last decade.
we need to give Gregg especially a year, the backroom staff is more important than the manager in my opinion.

Fuck off JDT you fucking dolloper.
Yet another venkys appointment just here to clip the ticket and pick up a wage.
Honestly, I’ve read most of his interviews over the last six or so months and he talks about a few windows and making the club sustainable long term. He talks about wanting to go for promotion but it being a dream- when was the last time we made the top 6??
Short term nothing much will change but for the first time in years I do feel off the field we may be moving forward for the first time and let’s not forget we have won 13 games and are 3rd, regardless of how you feel we got there.

Six signings so far and only Hyam looks sound. Brittain looks half decent but my God, looks one who'll make sure the treatment room is always occupied.
We don't want any more feckin 'journey' nonsense or 'I need 3 windows' stalling bullsh1t.
Said it time and time again, we need a manager who unequivocally says 'our objective is simple, to get us to the PL in the shortest space of time - no caveats - full stop'.
A reality check is needed.
look at the teams in first and second place in the league, look at the players and look at how much they have spent. Now look at the teams directly below us, Watford as an example, they have £40 million pound Sarr in the first 11, what’s our squad costing us?
what is your suggestion on how we compete with these clubs with parachute payments? We can’t outspend them, so going via the academy is the way forward and being smart in the transfer market. We have literally appointed our first DOF and a complete overhaul of the backroom staff, how much time should we give them Mercer, a few months? You have criticised most of the new players (fair enough) but the manager and backroom staff came late, if I’m correct the scouting came AFTER the window.
Our two permanent signings have been a success, Sammie has been hot and cold but the rest are loans, some work and others don’t.
my general point is that in my view we won’t see a JDT team until next season, I am happy with a top 6 place this season and some exciting young players coming through. This attitude of we should be in the premier league I don’t understand, what’s happened with Venkys has happened but this is not 2000’s anymore and we have to deal with the cards dealt in front of us.

I wouldn't be surprised JDT wants to sign 2 players from his former Club Malmo in Centre midfielder Erdal Rakip and forward Jo Inge Berget. Both out of contract in 4 days.
Chaddy- would either of them get the required number of points? I agree the European market is way forward.
I also think that the backroom staff need time now, no point appointing a number of key personnel and then getting rid of them! We are shockingly still in 3rd and I still feel top 6 is achievable.

Can we keep Travis on the bench for a few months and not bring him on- what a total waste of time and costing us points.
