Sshh. Apparently nobody will buy a loss making 2nd division club and you just have to hope the current owners never leave or the club will disappear.

Also notice that their owner has managed to invest without hiding behind FFP rules as an excuse.

Sold one player for 19 million Euros and all transfers in the two years after have been cost less than that.

Broughton is a penis, well actually limp dick

Objectively I think he has done a good job. The renewal of contracts is something to be acknowledged. Our cash buys on the whole have been excellent and to get the right squad overall will take time. We are also running on a budget of 15% less than last year. This is not Greggs or JDTs fault.

  3. I have had a night to recover for that nonsense yesterday.

positives- we can outplay anyone in this league and have some outstanding young players in the squad.

negatives- CM, either Travis needs to sit deep alongside Wharton or we need a third CM in there like Garrett because at the moment there is literally a hole and our defence is getting over run. Dolan needs to be dropped as well as Pears- yesterday was one of the worst goal keeping performances I have seen in a long time. Why does he always flap his hands at the defence like they should be doing something?

    top 6? Let’s target top 10 and a decent cup run 😂

You keep on mentioning 45 games last season despite being pulled up on it. 45 APPEARANCES Chaddy. In the league (38 apps) he played 1839 minutes in total. Which equates to around 20 full games, or an average of 48 minutes across the 38 appearances.

As a comparison, Dominic Hyam made 1 more league appearance than Ennis, yet he totalled 3433 minutes in total.......spot the difference.

Does this not suggest a lack of fitness as opposed to being injured? Something that JDT commented on when he first arrived. He was also playing in a one up front system alongside the best striker in the division so would explain his lack of mins too?

from what I have seen he will be a good signing- let’s not call him injury prone after 7 games of the season (that’s not me quoting you)

I doubt that. They'll just find some other way to sink us like they always do.

I remember after promotion from League One we were told that we weren't going to go daft and spend big money to try and bounce to the PL. We were going to be sensible and structured and invest correctly, in doing so avoiding FFP issues and building something that would enable us to be well placed medium term after all these other clubs had suffered through overspending and FFP trouble.

Fast forward just 2-3 years and we've let a raft of said assets walk away for nothing, nobly claiming we had no alternative, and into the mix have had to sell off our training ground apparently to ensure compliance. Not many clubs have done that.

I was told that the likes of Stoke, Bristol City, Middlesbrough, spending millions a year and huge wages, would get their comeuppance under FFP whilst we would be sat pretty with a solid base.

As it turns out none of those clubs have faced sanctions, despite spending and losing a lot more than us, whilst we have effectively sanctioned ourselves, be that due to 'geopolitical issues' affecting the owners or due to imposing harsh cuts and restrictions allegedly to achieve FFP compliance.

This is just more of the jam tomorrow talk. Expecting us to believe that a bit of pain over the next 2-3 years is going to lead to a big bright future where we cruise along and all these rival clubs get crippled with FFP issues. It won't happen. We will get to 2026 (assuming we survive in the Championship until then) and it will just be more of the same - claims we have to sell assets and make cuts to comply, rapidly changing situation with the owners in India, cashflow problems, profits taking a hit.

They treat the club with neglect and contempt and decide budgets and 'strategy' on a whim. I firmly believe we now have the shadow man and Waggott doing what they think is best with whatever budget India decides to hand down each year. Broughton and JDT are mere pawns in that, brought in under the impression there was a plan and ambition here and now realising that these owners have neither, just make it up as they go along depending on how they feel each summer.

    Stoke- 15mill for soutar

boro- 12 million for their striker, 25 million for Spence and Taverner.

Bristol city- Scott- 25 million, semenyo 12 million.

That’s for the last two seasons, it explains the outlay on player transfer fees but it is no way near what they have received. Hopefully now with GB leading we can get decent fees for players and then reinvest sensibly.

lost it cheaply a couple of times but apart from that he's been the best player on the pitch by a country mile.

Wharton is a brilliant prospect but he has not had a great game, far too many missed tackles, players going past him and inaccurate passes. Had this been Dolan the knives would be out!

they don't. You have to be 18 years to buy them legally and use them.

well if you find it tacky and badly designed logo then don't buy it then. very simple answer.

Yet again far too many people focus on this instead of this is Blackburn Rovers shirt.

Yet I found 60+ in school lockers the other day. You have your opinion Chaddy but vaping is a massive issue for kids atm and I don’t feel comfortable with us advertising them on the front of our shirts.

Is this man the real saviour of English football? - I think we all know the answer! (article from 2008):

Please try to not piss yourself laughing and/or pull your hair out in a rage…

Ok… so am I missing something? Lots of outreach work at Charlton, players going to hospitals on their days off, making the club the hub of the community. 15 years is a long time in football but clearly he is not an evil man and we have done plenty within the community over the last few years for which I’m sure Waggott will take some credit.

Feel sure many Saints' fans will be underwhelmed by  Martin's appointment.  Just what has he achieved as a football manager?  Did he take MKD up - no.  He joined Swansea for the 2021/22 season after the club had just finished 4th in the Championship and he followed that up with 2 lower end league/midtable finishes.  What he has done to earn a crack at Southampton is beyond me - just thankful if JDT does leave we wont have Martin as a replacement.  I would be very surprised if Martin lasts the season at Saints.

As for Jones as Rovers' head coach - done superbly at Luton in two spells but poor at Stoke and he was, IMO, a tad unlucky at Southampton (wrong appointment at the wrong time).

Folk including you Chaddy, get obsessed with possession based football.  It means feck all unless you do something positive with the ball when you have it like score some goals, win football matches from both losing and winning positions and get promoted!

Burnley, Sheff U (auto promoted) and Coventry and Luton (play off finalists) all have a physicality, an aggression, a fighting spirit and a will to win to supplement when they have possession of the ball.  It's no coincidence the possession based teams like Rovers, Sunderland and M'boro have been blown away.

You need a particular type of manager to get out of the Championship - Jones ticks the boxes, Martin doesn't and very possibly JDT doesn't.

I agree with a lot of what you have said (had to be a first lol). However the part I disagree with is the jones to Rovers fit. We have a way of playing and a clear plan to move forward. I don’t think a Head Coach leaving is going to change that. We have considerably more assets now than what we had 12 months ago. Hopefully no more players leaving on frees (unless we want that to happen)
