  1. I think it’s frankly incredible that we are currently 2nd. Manager and DOF coming in late, new style of play etc. if we finish top 6 this year I would be ecstatic!

-New contracts given to players is something we haven’t done in a long long time.

-Britain, Hyam (bargain of the season), Morton are all excellent signings.

-Wharton, Garrett, Batty introduced into the side.

I see so many positives in how we want to play, but this will take months of repetition and at least two more cycles of players coming in and leaving.

I have not felt this positive in years and JDT and GB have created this feel good factor, with dare I say it Venkys actually having a plan (Tin hat on!)

We cannot pass and retain the ball with this manager.

That's on the evidence of 12 or so matches.

Every now and again we snap out of the system and manage to keep the ball for 10 or 15 passes, but generally we look edgy, nervous and just really lacking in quality.

We have given them eight 1st half scoring opportunities, so bringing Dack on won't cost us anything more at the back.

    Better from Dolan!!!!!

You mean with the players not the manager?

players are the issue not the manager here. Give it two more windows and longer time on the training pitch and there will be a positive change.

I don't think the defence is entirely the problem - there are huge gaps on the transition. That won't change even with new personnel in the defence.

I do agree that we're not relegation material, we'll be around mid table. Is mid table championship and getting battered by teams like Bristol City and Reading good enough though?

I can accept the occasional thrashing, bet we're getting well beat most weeks at the moment.

As quite a few of us have said for a few weeks, the midfield is the big problem at the moment.

Yet it’s the same midfield that dominated vs Blackpool away.

we have a lot of youngsters in the first 11 and the inconsistency that comes with that.

JDT wants to play a certain way, how do you do that with the injuries we have to contend with atm? Bristol city played the way we will in a few months time.

I also thought Hirst up front working the channels was ok and showed some promise. I also think playing 5 at the back when everyone is fit would work well. Wharton is a massive loss and can’t wait until he is back.

Oh, I didn't honestly see that as any sort of priority. We already had 3 years left to run with him, I'd have expected to sort it at the end of this season.

Nonetheless, it's interesting and positive to see the club looking to the longer term and not wanting to repeat the mistakes we have seen with contracts recently, leaking millions away. Just hope there isn't too much of a pay rise involved in this case, as tbh his place in the first team looks less than guaranteed right now. Early in the season though.

The kid is super talented and is only 22 years old. I love the intent of a five year deal- would love to see our other youngsters signed up to similar deals.

    Good result that.

There’s only really one player I want to talk about, but I have to give Pickering credit after battering him lately. Did well tonight. Bowler a lot quieter than feared. Also really hope Brereton stays.

On to the main man though. Adam Wharton. Fucking hell. What a performance. Not only flawless, but absolute quality. We are witnessing a very very special player here.

Just turned 18, what a championship debut
