    Dykes or Hirst..Jesus wept

Yeah BBD off you go mate we shall replace your 20 plus goals with a lad that hasn't scored in the championship before or another lad that can hold the ball up a tiny bit ..if we are really lucky maybe both

In his first two seasons BBD scored a massive 2 goals in 40 games, season after 7 in 40.

so we replaced Armstrongs 20 goals with some one with 9 goals in 80 games. Point being that who knows what this kid can produce at this level but he had a really good run in league 1 and was scoring a goal a game after Christmas so maybe decent after all

If you have a leak in your house and the same plumber has 32 goes at repairing it without success then what would you think!?

Only a d1ckhead would give the same plumber 32 opportunities but you get my drift.

Yeah but perhaps someone with a smaller house has given said plumber a chance, he has proven himself up to the task. So the question is do you give this plumber another chance or have you written him off for life based on his work as a junior apprentice. I love metaphors lol 😂

Hirst no thankyou, he's a league 1 player at best

If we are now back in front in the race for van hecke, does that mean no caulker? Because it won't be van hecke, caulker and hyam,  unless we now know Phillips is going and Carter out on loan

If we did get van hecke and hyam we would have one of the best defences in the league

‘At best’ he has had one full season in league 1 and is 23 years old. Deffo worth a punt.

  4. I honestly think the loss of Wharton in the last three games cannot be understated. When we get him back alongside Hyam we should be stronger at the back, however it’s the striker situation which is concerning.

A proper number 9 is needed, hold the ball up and score goals. I really hope that’s top of the agenda as when Breo goes we will be woefully short and then expect a relegation battle.

    Three? Three?!?

I mean given all the gaps we have, and all the outgoings, much less considering anything we heaven forfend might want to improve on, and three is the best that can do to sort this?

We are still more than 3 players short. We're short on goals and that's before Bereton goes. We are so thin at CB and are relying on Ayala staying fit. There's little cover at full back, and that's before we even consider the quality there. We are short in midfield, notably steel and experience, and our wide players aren't very rapid or consistent.

I get Rome wasn't built in a day but my word, we have way more issues than a further 3 players can address. We're relying on every player pulling their weight and being able to improve. Somehow I doubt that will happen.

We need five or six but in about a weeks time we will have

Ayala, Wharton, Hyam, carter, Phillips- that’s five for two positions- we don’t need six CBs imo.

I really want to see a proper number 9 up front, someone who can hold the ball up (Aka Graham) but also someone who can score goals. My gut says we will sign four before Thursday.

Unsure what to make of the Hyam potential deal. Coventry are one of Sky's less fancied teams and they concede a lot of goals as a team and have a number of quite slow centre backs in Hyam, Rose and McFadzean.

I always think it is useful to gauge opinions of the fans who have seen him week in, week out. Like with Szmodics, there is a common theme that they would rather sell him than others in the squad and that the fee is decent, albeit they certainly aren't as keen as Peterborough fans were to let him go and they are very commonly suggesting that he is their best defender and would leave a big hole.

Style wise, his lack of pace and limitations on the ball don't really tally with the supposed fluid, energetic style that we want to play (perhaps a symptom of not having the manager choose the players?) but as a more no nonsense defender, hopefully he likes to keep clean sheets, more than he has in the last 2 seasons!

He would be a permanent signing, is a good age being experienced but also coming into his peak so that goes in his favour and he also has played consistently over the last 2 seasons at mid table Championship level.

The LT suggests that it could be Hyam only in defence with the deal for Van Den Berg who is very good at this level potentially falling through. I am not convinced that Hyam, Wharton, Ayala and Carter is anything other than a significant downgrade on last season. We also cannot hold off signing players to try and guarantee Phillips game time because he isn't ready for Championship football yet.

Could this deal not have been done a week or two earlier? Probably.

You said he has limitations on the ball, have you seen him play? I’ll be honest I haven’t. However someone sent an excellent link a few pages and it showed that he is in the top 5% of players in this league for progressive passes.

based on what I have read he is not really a Lenihan style player. So with him Ayala, Wharton, Carter and Phillips we would have enough CBs. He is also comfortable in a back 3 another advantage.

I'm optimistic we add 4 or 5 decent players, yeah I would have liked them in sooner but I think that's how we operate. Anyone else think the same or you think we are gonna get shafted?

I honestly think that the market we operate in, it will be the last day and I expect our business to be down. It could be the difference in getting an extra player in so I can see the argument for it. I have faith in Gregg to get the right players in.

  8. This window is vital, no doubt.

however we have a new manager, a new DOF and a yet to arrive Head of recruitment.

The test to see their effectiveness will be in my opinion, January and the summer. We are going to play a different style of football, currently with a lot of players who are uncomfortable playing that way- this will clearly take time. There needs to be a evolution of the players coming in and in my opinion selling BB is key, we need the finances from that sale- a scary but exciting ten days coming up.

  9. I was watching All or Nothing Arsenal yesterday and it made me reflect on a number of things.

we are moving away from one style of football and playing something different. JDT has had weeks and this season will be a transitional one.  We need players who are used to his style of play and that takes time and will take a couple of transfer windows.

my biggest worry is left back and Pickering. The last few games it’s apparent that the opposition is targeting him and all he does is get the ball and play it backwards. Having seen him last year I can only think that this is a confidence issue because I do feel he is technically good enough to pass the ball to feet at pace.

I am interested to see the reaction from the players but ideally need a couple of new signings in Before the United match.

  10. Ref was dire and we should have had a pen at 1-0 down but shocking performance.

The biggest issue tonight was massive gaps between defence- midfield-attack.

for all the wide players we have, we need a Bowler type of player who has pace and can run past people. Big two weeks for us now.

Give me 10th now and i would take it. We haven’t got the squad to last 46 games.
