I want us to win in order to prolong some meaning to our season. Otherwise we can start singing, "F*ck the cup, we're going to finish 16th, doo dah doo dah".
-
He's not a newbie manager, so if he hasn't worked out how to set up a defence by now, (which he hasn't), he never will. The coaching staff working under him are his responsibility. I agree that another poor appointment will almost certainly follow his eventual departure, so we're damned either way.

Barnsley (h) - the Cauldron Of Hate part 2?
martonrover replied to MCMC1875's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
It's certainly left field, but every credit for showing a bit of imagination. No doubt when Mowbray finally does get potted, we will go hunting in Jurassic Park again. -
Now that's what you call a reply ? Every credit, and I only wish I still felt the same way. I live in Blackpool now and have spent much of my life there. For me, it's not just about the shortcomings of Mowbray. I simply have no faith in the owners or the people they have installed to run the club in England. It's got to the point where the club is so tainted I barely recognise it anymore. I certainly wouldn't have Warnock as my first choice to take over, but if it was a choice between him and Mowbray, Mowbray would come third. I'm not averse to the idea of Johnson taking over, but think there are better options out there. Unfortunately, it's likely that nothing will be changed until it's too late.

The majority of the fans who can still be bothered to attend simply sit in a state of apethetic stupor. I would imagine a good many are getting to the stage that I am at - i.e. What's the point? The owners may well still believe all the talk of a "project", but more and more supporters are now seeing through this smoke and mirrors fabrication, and can see it's an excuse for mediocrity (at best) in the here and now. There is little chance of the necessary change coming anytime soon, and even less chance of Neil Warnock taking over, (especially after the pantomime a few years ago when he was set to be appointed). If he did come it would reignite my interest. How great it would be to have a bloke with fire in his belly in the dugout.

Mowbray is on record as saying he told Bauer he would have to be content with being a squad player who would have to fight his way into the first team. After signing for Preston, Bauer stressed how impressed he was with Alex Neil during talks. Enough said.
-
Agreed. We will end up spunking 10 million on a couple more "project" signings. In Mowbray's case, the word "project" is a cover for ongoing mediocrity.
-
I'm waiting for Steve 'Totally Wicked' Waggott to present him with a three year contract extension on the back of that scratchy win.
-
Hard to see him gaining confidence playing behind our defence! He's been very poor, unfortunately. Something a new manager would want to address, but probably won't be able to as the window will have long shut when he arrives.
-
"They know he is changing BR and it will take time". Translation - They are still swallowing his bullshit, hook, line & sinker.
-
Devil's advocate - there wasn't decisive action when Coyle was at the helm. The time to move is now, before the next six points are chucked away. A bit of new manager / caretaker manager bounce is needed.
-
I hope you are right, but think that is a tad optimistic. I can see us going down with a whimper unless a (good) change is made quite soon.

Any chief executive of a professional sports club who signs off a sponsorship deal with a nicotine pushing company is an impostor.
-
Ah yes, the actor Steve Waggott, currently playing the role of the invisible man. Any decision would surely come from India, but they will no doubt make one when it's too late.
-
Looking on the bright side, there's a weather warning in place for heavy rain. We might get a result - a postponement ?
-
Yes, I can think of a good few better candidates who are instantly available.
-
Agreed, the speed (or lack of it) in making decisions continues to be a problem. I don't believe for a minute that the actor Steve Waggott is empowered to make strategic decisions. They will act when it's far too late, and then make another poor appointment.
-
Mowbray has only been "successful" on one occasion in this division, and that was more than a decade ago, (and pre-dates Owen Coyle's success in this division). He massively over thinks things, hence all the tinkering.
-
That conjurs the image in my head of Eric Morecambe talking to Andre Previn? I agree, but still think j*b's point is valid.
-
True, but do we now have a better goalkeeper or defence? No, in my opinion, and I think Raya is a better keeper than Walton. The ways things are going, Wigan could soon overtake us. I expect Brentford to finish comfortably ahead of us.
-
The short answer is 'no'. None of them would know where to start. We will end up with another dinosaur, foisted on us by the most pushy agent.
-
It's the latest incarnation of the Ewood self preservation society. Rovers are the gift that never stops giving if you can ingratiate yourself with the owners. Mowbray & his sidekick are bedding themselves in nicely. Venkys never learn.
-
Not saying I want him, but I disagree about it being a typical appointment. It would actually show a little imagination. Had Norwich fans ever heard of Farke? I wouldn't trust the actor Steve 'Totally Wicked' Waggott to pick his nose. I think it could catch on ? Anyway, back on topic, can't be arsed getting a ticket to be humiliated.
