  1. This board would be a much duller place without Chaddy, (and it’s good fun sparring with him on here 🙂), but my take on it is that he can look after himself and gives as good as he gets.
  2. A high turnover at the sharp end of the structure, ie those at the coalface on the footballing side. The last reboot was only two years ago. A stable structure is essential for any chance of progression. We don’t want Waggott here. He is part of the problem.
  3. I hope / think you are probably right about the first part. The issue is that this is just the latest reboot, and we will probably have another one in a couple of years time. Also, will the new recruitment team be given more than a tube of Smarties to work with?
  4. Yes, my opinion, which is how a message board works. The likelihood is that we are in limbo, which is pretty much what your post insinuated . When a company in any industry has an ongoing high turnover of staff, it’s a sure sign of problems.
  5. ……because he doesn’t know the “plan” himself, because there likely isn’t one, other than binning recruitment staff to save money.
  6. Which is all you need to know about the shit we are in.
  7. Yes, but everything’s going to be different now because we’re going to have a new structure and Venky’s are allowed to fund the club. It must be true because Steve Waggott said it, a man of integrity.
  8. Sounds about right. We'll probably get a manager this way one day. Al apart from the one we really want to leave.
  9. Agreed. The only issue I had with Coyle is that he was a serial failure who had one jammy season in his career.
  10. Well for starters, one of them had Brum 6th in the League and the other was then chiefly responsible for relegating them. One of them then helped us to stay up. I think you can fill in the blanks for yourself.
  11. Venus was still Mowbray’s assistant and I would wager that he was answerable to Mowbray who was manager (the clue is in the job title) not head coach. We know going as far back to the times of Shebby Singh, Steve Kean, Paul Agnew and Derek Shaw that there have been power struggles. We have previously had a Director of football in Paul Senior, and he also lasted about five minutes. It’s a chaotic club, run by people who should be nowhere near it.
  12. Waggott can’t remove a DOF, but he can brief and conspire against him, and get in Suhail’s and the owners’ ear. We’ve seen it several times since Venkys took over. Senior staff who should be working together but who are actually consumed with petty power struggles. Venus wasn’t the DOF. He was given some ridiculous, trumped up title, but Mowbray was the manager, (not head coach), and he certainly wasn’t answerable to his own assistant. A technical director role would suggest less of a managerial role and more emphasis on style of play. Similarly, a head of recruitment will be answerable to the CEO and have less autonomy.
  13. Devil's advocate - the reason Broughton was removed was because Waggott didn't like him and didn't want a director of football. I'm sure a poster on here who met with Waggott posted that Waggott said exactly that, ie he didn't feel the need for a DOF. Personally, I'm happy to see the back of Broughton, who I felt was out of his depth. However, that doesn't mean he was a bigger problem than Waggott, indeed, far from it.
  14. We tend to get the younger ones, who are rarely ready for the rigors of Championship football. Elliott was an exception and had the physicality to cope.
  15. I think the problem is that we can only afford the scraps, rather than the high quality loans which demand a decent loan fee.
  16. Yes, close the thread, light the burning torches and head for the Bolton area (or at least I think that’s where Nicko lives).
  17. So it’s an anxious wait til morning for us all here in silly season. Will Nicko bring news to get the angry mob lighting their burning torches, or will he say something to suggest he isn’t the Devil incarnate? Coming soon, will the blue on our new shirt be slightly the wrong shade? 😱
  18. At least he’s a football man, not a terrible MP who has been missing from his constituency.
  19. Condolences, SC. What a fascinating and full life he had.
  20. Have the Tomasson’s sold Whalley chippy yet? 😉
  21. Two should be axed. No problem with having a head coach / manager (which Eustace effectively now is after GB’s departure ), an assistant manager and a first team coach. The manager should be able to choose his own staff.
  22. 😂 Man City used to sing it about Philippe Albert. Still more imaginative than , “Barmy army, barmy army, barmy army”.
  23. If Bayern had wanted him they would surely have gone after him, and he would’ve accepted in a heartbeat.
  24. Hmm, that rings a few bells............
  25. I don’t care how awful he is , he has to be signed so we can chant “Theo, Theo the Bair” to the theme tune of the 1970s kids tv show, “Rupert the Bear”.
