  1. Looking at the forecast, it’s a good job we’re not at home.
  2. I thought at the time that Hull's decision to sack Rosenior was ridiculous, and on a par with Birmingham sacking Eustace. So far, they have got their just deserts.
  3. Agreed, but it wasn’t tradition for every single game on Boxing Day in one division to be broadcast live on tv, (which is the case in the Championship this Year).
  4. Won't help that it's on Sky, especially on a day when people have other places to be.
  5. For me, what will define our season is whether or not we have our usual collapse from February onwards.
  6. My thoughts are with Jim at this difficult time 😉
  7. We have a pragmatic head coach, which is what we need under these tight arses.
  8. Agreed, we are in credit no matter what happens on Saturday. One of those grounds where we seem to pick up results. True, but maybe the postponement actually helped this evening?
  9. Not sure if anyone has already made the point, but the blame for today's postponement lies firmly with Brett Emerton.
  10. They can't really win in terms of the time it was called off.. They obviously didn't want to chance leaving it any later, as that would've been criticised, and if you call it off last night in anticipation of bad weather, that would also have been criticised. Incredibly bad luck with the timing, and a day either side there would've been no issue.
  11. I remember a game against Fulham in the mid 80s that was also a farce. It would never have been completed today. Im pretty sure we won 1 - 0 .
  12. I think the problem is the water table of the pitch being so high, given Ewood Park’s location, (ie in a valley, next to a river). Agreed re the Pompey fans, but I did post last night I wouldn’t have been chancing it.
  13. Yes, that’s always been the problem. It used to be worse in the 80s and any band of rain before a game often led to a postponement. Now it has to be quite severe.
  14. You told us yesterday evening it would be on.
  15. They should definitely communicate, but it’s really all about the timing of bad weather. No doubt the pitch is playable right now, but may not be if it rains heavily for a few more hours. Looking at the rain radar there seems to be a definite back edge to the rain, so fingers crossed it clears through well before kick off.
  16. They will ask whoever the Head Coach is at the time if he has any mates who could do the job.
  17. I think the problem that day was standing water caused by quickly thawing snow. I think we’ll be okay tomorrow, providing it’s just rain.
  18. In the lap of the Gods judging by the forecast. Put it this way, I wouldn't be chancing travelling up from Portsmouth at silly o'clock.
  19. I think you've answered your own question. Also, as others have said, Rovers pay your wages until something better comes along. I would imagine that Eustace is far from happy with this development, and it'll unsettle him to some extent.
  20. Sounds about right. In the bigger picture, it's just the latest predictable development in the revolving doors circus that is Venkys' Rovers. Add to that, the guff that Gestede was quoted as saying in today's Telegraph about how we want success but it won't be a quick process, ie basically a recycling of what Broughton said when he arrived. In a couple of years time the next hired goon who replaces Gestede will be spouting the same kind of crap. The project is dead, long live the project.
  21. Broughton is a first rate chancer who talks a good game, but that’s about it. Getting shot of him didn’t cure our underlying problem (the owners) but we are better off without him. Chicago, you are welcome to him.
  22. ............and if we'd have lost, (and let's be honest that was the general expectation), we'd have been one point ahead of Cardiff and only four above the relegation zone. I think you misunderstood my post. I didn't mean that we were cutting down any trees or had any reason for self congratulation. I meant in context of going into the game on the crest of a slump, it was a big result.
  23. A brilliant way to lift the gathering storm clouds and sign off for the international break. The difference between winning and losing today was huge, in terns of both morale and the table. Clearly, there are deficiencies in the squad which need addressing, but a win away under pressure is a more hopeful sign. The Championship is bonkers.
  24. 🎶 Makhtar Gueye, you should’ve stayed at home yesterday. Ah-ha, just can’t describe, the feeling when that header went wide 🎶 (ok, it went over, but that doesn’t rhyme as well). With apologies to Andy McCluskey.
  25. We created a host of chances and simply didn't have the quality of attacker to finish them. When that happens it's almost inevitable that you will get stung at the other end.
