  1. Rangers line up Ben Davies deal after Blackburn Rovers interest | Lancashire Telegraph Damn! I was hoping the multi pack of Rolos we offered to throw in would swing it for us.
  2. Mowbray was the manager and the buck stopped with him. Venus may have had some extra responsibilities leaning towards DOF, but they were seemingly a bolt on to his main role as assistant manager. Look, let’s hope this turns out to be a fabulous success. We just badly need to start making some breakthroughs in the transfer market. We are well behind where we need to be at this moment.
  3. Last time Rovers had a Director of Football we got relegated.
  4. At at an efficient, well run club I’m sure it works very well. The worry here is that any transfers would still need sanctioning further up the food chain, which would (incredibly) make us even less efficient than before the structure was changed.
  5. "Hello, you've reached the voicemail of Greg Broughton. Sorry I'm not available to take your call, and if it's you ringing, Jon Dahl, I really am going to sign someone soon, cross my heart and hope to die".
  6. Well whatever happens in the final, at least we beat Yorkshire. Working over here, I really would've struggled coming to terms with losing to them on Finals Day. Very worried after their innings. Needn't have been 🙂
  7. Reminded me of a politician, trying to smile whilst talking. Does anyone know where Greg is? This is who the likes of Sharpe need to be talking to about transfers, (as JDT himself said).
  8. God, I hope so. A Black Lace themed chant would be great 🙂
  9. Alas, the last local reporter who was prepared to ruffle a few feathers at the club was Andy Cryer. Nowadays, the likes of Sharpe and Jackson just deal in safe reporting and analysis.
  10. A lot of the players signed by Mowbray in recent seasons were loans, and unfortunately, that’s our likely market now. The added problem with that is they tend to be done late in the Window.
  11. Agreed. I fear any decision has to be passed all the way up the chain to Pasha to be sanctioned. By that time, a club with more than buttons to spend has come in and done the deal.
  12. I think that’s the whole idea of the DOF / Head Coach model, but I would imagine that JDT is perhaps just starting to regret turning down an alternative job, or at least getting a little twitchy. Even Sharpe, (who isn’t exactly known for sticking his neck out), was reporting we were hopeful of signings early LAST week. Just over two weeks to go and still not one signing.
  13. You missed out, "You can hire Bodo Glimt's academy guy as DOF" 😉
  14. That’s the end of that, then. JDT to Broughton to Waggott to Pasha = “no”.
  15. Swedes more likely, but we'll probably end up buying them from Aldi.
  16. You would think that England will decide on the Friday who is going to play on the Sunday, and release any players who are not selected. We were lucky to get Salt back for this evening, at short notice. I do fear we will be without all four, especially with the ODI being at Old Trafford.
  17. There are various categories, including one just for the T20’s. I have the traditional membership, which includes Championship, T20 and 50 over cup group games, which was £140, including a loyalty bonus. Good value.
  18. I’ve had problems accessing my member tickets for games. On a few occasions only the guest voucher has shown up when I try to book online. Happened this week when I wanted a ticket for the last day at Southport. Had to ring the ticket office, and the guy I spoke to had difficulty understanding that I needed a ticket for a Championship match, (which you do for Southport) Also happened for various home T20s and the 50 over cup match at Blackpool.
  19. Brilliant win, especially under the circumstances. Delighted. Yorks on Finals Day, blimey! Similar problems , due to the ODI series v India, but at least Yorks will also lose a few. On the plus side, Gleason will be available (if fit). Hampshire completely unaffected by call ups. It’s just not right.
  20. Personally, I would’ve ‘stuck’ and not taken the gamble, (providing their expectations were reasonable ).
  21. Difficult to replace with equal or better when you only have buttons to spend, (not everyone is as daft as us to get in a position where you are giving players in their prime away).
  22. Exactly, and he’s clearly been given buttons to spend on transfer fees and wages. Add to that, he can’t exploit cheaper, foreign markets to any great extent because of visa restrictions.
  23. Evidently, our potential ins are going to clubs who are willing to pay more than chocolate buttons.
  24. Amidst all the other factors at play, Broughton is a guy who has been chucked in at the deep end to learn a completely new role. That would be hard enough at an efficiently operating club. Just now, this is not looking too good.
  25. The new Rovers reporter's naivety about the club is evident in his reporting. He sees the club through the eyes of a giddy child.
