  1. Totally agree. The head coach appointment is the important one and the one that will define where we are going into the new season, (and they need to hurry up!)
  2. It’s hard not to be cynical after everything we’ve witnessed over the last twelve years. It reminds me a little of ‘The Life of Brian’ when someone new arrives at Rovers , and whatever he says he is greeted as the Lord and saviour. The new guy at Lancs Live is also in a lather about him, showing he doesn’t have the context of previous false dawns. I really do hope Broughton is successful, but it only has a chance of working if he’s given enough authority to make and implement decisions.
  3. No doubt selling like hotcakes on the strength of recruiting a DOF, who no-one had heard of until yesterday 😉
  4. I wonder what the new DOF makes of that? Will he suggest we soften our stance in order to get the right head coach, or will he simply shrug his shoulders and start tucking in to the 'all you can drink' gravy?
  5. I’m hoping he is involved in the search, and I’m quite happy to give him a chance. However, the current state of play is that our (home produced) captain is about to walk away for zilch, at the peak of his career. Perhaps, had a manager / head coach been appointed in good time, he may have been persuaded to stay.
  6. So now we have a Director of Football, who can talk the talk, but still no manager / head coach, and key players clearing off whilst we create an even bigger muddle. Great!
  7. Yeah, Drakes got a good contact, the crowd was roaring and the cameras focussed on the wrong fielder on the boundary. My heart sunk. Then they picked up on Hartley 🙂 Revis (non striker) evidently thought Yorks had won, because he embraced Drakes with a huge smile on his face.
  8. Fantastic game, amazing finish and a very happy day at work for me in Yorkshire tomorrow 🙂 Take a bow Tom Hartley.
  9. Fair enough, maybe we will see (although I know you don’t want to🙂) I do look at CVS and still think he’s a reasonable choice. Certainly not in the dud category.
  10. I get the point, ie you don’t want him, fair enough, but there really isn’t enough evidence on his CV to write him off. He wasn’t a failure at Celtic in terms of results. He isn’t a failure at his present club. Whoever we appoint there will be an element of risk. I’m a bit more concerned about the relationship between whoever gets it and Broughton, especially if he’s annoyed the manager at his previous club.
  11. This is one potential downside of having a DOF. What if Broughton doesn't get on with whoever we get? I'd really like to know the level of responsibility the Head Coach will be getting. This set up complicates as much as it sells a dream of a golden future.
  12. If we're talking about Europe, as the article points out, how many successful European campaigns have Celtic had? Mowbray failed there, simple as, Deila didn't. For me, it's an appointment that shows a bit of imagination and would definitely break the mould of dragging someone off the scrapheap.
  13. Inconclusive, and the funniest thing in that article is the comment about Mowbray. Not making excuses for Deila, but it must have been a strange time for Celtic supporters anyway, without having Rangers to bounce off. He wasn't a disaster there, (Hi Tony), and has done okay since. Rovers are a very different animal to Celtic.
  14. Great, cue another random name entering the frame tomorrow 😂
  15. Kjetil Knutsen - Wikipedia Good to see someone's been busy updating his wiki page 🙂 (apologies if already posted).
  16. Nope, I'm in England. Up early for my shift, (train driver), starting at 05:00 🙂
  17. While we all agree that the likes of Adkins and Grayson would be poor, I do wonder how realistic some people’s expectations are. Farke would’ve been great, but I never understood the fuss about Carvalhal. His record is mediocre. Ainsworth and Warne have both had to cut their teeth at smaller clubs, and have had some success. Both, potentially, on their way up. Deila has had success in other countries, and I again point out that his record at New York City is better than Patrick Viera’s. I think most people would take the latter as manager. The process of recruiting has highlighted how poorly the club is run, but I don’t see any of those mentioned above as being poor choices, should one of them be appointed.
  18. Deila has a better record at New York than Patrick Viera did, and he’s doing okay in the Premier League. He’s an experienced manager with a decent track record, albeit not in the strongest leagues. I think he’d be a credible appointment.
  19. It’s worrying that, reportedly, the agency which recommended League of Gentlemen character Waggott have sourced our DOF 😱
  20. Married to a Manchester lass, but I do take your point 🙂
  21. Maybe it’s got so bad we’re looking at Aussie cricketers now? 😉
  22. I was in bed then, but fair enough 🙂 The point remains the same, ie there must have been some reason for the shortening price. Let us all know if any of the half dozen journos you’ve asked on Twitter if we’ve approached Rotherham get back to you.
  23. He’d come in to that price from 12s first thing this morning, and I wondered then if an approach had been made.
  24. Maybe, but that’s pure speculation. I do agree with others though, that IF we’ve approached Rotherham for Warne, it’s his job if he wants it.
  25. Blackpool CEO opens up on Neil Critchley Aston Villa exit and provides manager search update - LancsLive Yes, and look at this, a CEO who clearly knows his arse from his elbow and communicates with supporters. A stark contrast to our shit show.
