  1. Given the international absentees, that is an astonishing win. Even at tea, the only team with a realistic chance of winning was Warwickshire. Amazing 🙂🌹🌹🌹
  2. Hopefully, yes, but strictly speaking it’s Broughton’s responsibility as DOF, not Tomasson’s as head coach. JDT isn’t the manager, that’s the whole point.
  3. I think it’s pretty obvious that I meant it’s Broughton who Venkys will need to back in the transfer market. Tomasson reportedly not involved in transfers. It’s actually quite scary that we are now relying on Bodo Glimt’s previous academy guy to bring in the right players. Let’s hope he’s up to it.
  4. Your point is valid, but my understanding is that transfers will be Broughton’s remit.
  5. It isn’t illogical to take into account an absolutely shocking, sustained run of bad form in the second half of the season, which can often be a pointer for the season ahead. Add to that, if any team loses several key players, they have to be replaced and replaced well. Then the new players have to fit in, which can take time. Our success ,(or lack of it), in the transfer market will be crucial. I just don’t think a lower finish next season automatically means it’s been a failure.
  6. They were all key players for us last season. They are all set to leave of their own choice, rather than us showing them the door. That’s the context.
  7. We certainly weren’t massively improving from February onwards. Yes, of course the point of not renewing Mowbray’s contract should be to find someone who can take us further, within a reasonable timeframe, but you still have to factor all circumstances into the equation. Even Farke only managed a mid-table finish in his first season at Norwich. I will grant you that 15th wouldn’t be encouraging.
  8. Armstrong and Elliott, I will give you. The other three - come on! We are losing the captain, (at his peak), Rothwell, and probably Nyambe and Brereton - Diaz. That’s without taking into consideration the loanees going back, and the DOF and head coach playing catch up already.
  9. Ideally, but I think we have to factor in the departure of key players and cut the new set up a bit of slack. It’s only the beginning of the journey 😉
  10. Exactly. I don’t see anything wrong about weighing up the pros and cons of Tomasson’s likely appointment on here, and it certainly doesn’t equate to not giving him a chance. If it happens at least it will show some imagination, which would be a welcome change.
  11. Yes, I know he’s Danish, but the reason given for him leaving Malmo was because his family lived in the Netherlands. Maybe he’s bought a place on Nuttall Street 😉
  12. Fair enough. From the report I read it sounded like he thought a Dutch team wanted him. I can’t see him being a shrinking violet and do fear that Broughton might annoy him, as he obviously did the Glimt manager.
  13. Definitely a huge risk, but will be interesting! Also a concern that Tomasson walked out on Malmo mid season, reportedly to return to Holland for family reasons.
  14. The recruitment process has highlighted what a joke the club has become. They are clueless.
  15. Absolutely agree, and the likes of Tomasson won't come cheap, and he will want assurances. This could run for a while yet.
  16. This is where Honeyman gets on the phone to say one of his stable will do it for half the wage.
  17. I agree, and I’m afraid I fear the worst. To expect a Broughton / Tomasson combo to hit the ground running is a big ask in my opinion. Lenihan gone, Nyambe and Brereton likely to follow. Really need people who know what they are doing.
  18. I was hoping that was the reason we made their academy guy our DOF, but they don’t talk 😂 Honestly, what a balls up.
  19. He was loaned to Derbyshire recently, and they quickly sent him back. Enough said. Im fearful for the next week, when we have a Championship match and more T20s, with several key players missing. Also lost our overseas bowler now in the Championship, and with Anderson away and Mahmood injured, it’s looking pretty thin.
  20. I hope you’re right, but not sure that will be so easy in terms of work permits etc, especially now. The whole process has been such.a joke I find it difficult to have faith in the outcome.
  21. Yes, and it’s going to get worse when Salt goes as well. Did well to stay in it, but that penultimate over from Hurt cost us the match. Got it all wrong. He’s had quite a few chances over the last few years and simply doesn’t look up to it.
  22. Hibs reportedly passed on Tomasson due to excessive wage demands and lack of knowledge of British players. Doesn’t exactly sound promising.
  23. How Blackburn Rovers' Gregg Broughton created a Leicester City-esque fairytale at Bodo/Glimt - LancsLive A headline that is the definition of hyperbole when you read the article.
