  1. The Burnley supporters buses leave tomorrow for Ewood 😉
  2. Wednesday probably had more money to spend than Rovers will next season. I’m lukewarm about Carvalhal. I could get behind the idea, but how long is he likely to stick around? No arguments with regards to Farke, though the chances of him coming appear to be dwindling. You’ve already made that point about Ainsworth and I have already replied.
  3. Agreed. Less likely he’ll end up at Leeds now. Could definitely have seen that if they’d been relegated.
  4. Sean Dyche will be having a quiet chuckle. We should go all out to get him now, just to really rub it in .
  5. I’m not sure the likes of Carvalhal will be too enamoured about working under a Director of Football, (especially if it’s some no mark), so I think you could ask that question about any candidate. As previously stated, Ainsworth has clearly been pragmatic in terms of style of play at Wycombe. There’s nothing to suggest he wouldn’t be able to put round pegs in round holes at Rovers, (probably more so than the previous manager).
  6. I still think he’d be a good fit. Ainsworth has demonstrated the ability to take a club forwards on very little funding, over a sustained period of time. As for the style of play, I guess he could’ve tried to play pretty football and waxed lyrical about going on a “journey”, but (shock/horror) he has concentrated on getting results. I don’t think he’ll be coming to Rovers as I doubt he will apply, given he’s currently under contract, and we know that Venkys don’t like paying compensation.
  7. Life isn’t always black and white. Ainsworth chose his words very carefully when interviewed by Sky. What he actually said was, “My IMMEDIATE future is looking after those lads”.
  8. A lack of respect and a sense of entitlement . Also, the “What are you going to do about it?” culture. It’s the same working on the Railway. Anti - social behaviour and aggression towards staff are on the increase.
  9. You are asking me rather than telling me, so you are not really that confident. If a prospective (decent) head coach is not allowed to bring in his own key back room staff, ie assistant and first team coach, he is less likely to take the job.
  10. I think the important point is that any half decent Head Coach / Manager will want to bring in his own staff. If the club blocks that, it'll be another desperate dan getting the job. Add to that the worry of a poor Director of Football appointment creating the same problem. Here's hoping they surprise / amaze us.
  11. Exactly. There is no way an ambitious Championship club will appoint Mowbray. He might be in with a sniff at Brum if they pot Bowyer. That type of club is his ceiling.
  12. “Jurgen and Pep were interviewed, but we felt that Mark (Venus) and David (Dunn) were the outstanding candidates”.
  13. Probably a shoo - in for Director of Football, hence putting off any half decent candidate for Head Coach.
  14. I was kidding, but you never know 🙂 His comments are a bit OTT, but he’s basically being respectful of a former club,
  15. You won’t be saying that next May when he’s strutting round the pitch enjoying the adulation ,in jeans & a shirt, after leading us to the Play Offs 😉
  16. Oh dear, let’s hope those words don’t come back to haunt you 😂 Gaz probably still has Mrs D’s mobile number.
  17. I wouldn’t go off anything that news Lancs Live reporter says. Earlier this morning he was linking Ainsworth to Reading, even though the vacancy had been filled. If, as as reported, Carrick was in for the Lincoln job, why would he not be interested in us?
  18. Yes, apparently had to oversee a huge turnover of players at the end of last season. That's always tricky, and wasn't really given much time this season to allow a new team to gel, (that's football).
  19. Who is this “Houghton” who I keep reading about on here? Is it Bobby Houghton, the former manager of Malmo? Chris Hughton’s record is good, and certainly compares well matched up against Carvahal. I’d be happy with either. Would still prefer Farke, Ainsworth or (dream on) Dyche. Mentally preparing for the likes of Grayson.
