  1. Sounds about right. God, we are utterly clueless. Which other club would interview eight people? Candidates probably scored highly for proposing cheap terms.
  2. Speculation on my part, but it makes sense. I would be surprised if it isn’t the case. He would come cheaper than the likes of Carvalhal.
  3. Because Myers has probably told him that our owners are prone to making odd managerial appointments. Why would he appeal to our owners? Because he would come relatively cheap and probably agree to keeping on a number of current back room staff. Why would he want the job? If, as has been reported, he wants a shot at management, we are at the highest realistic level where someone might give him the opportunity. He’s not going to walk straight into a Premier league job, and will realise that.
  4. I won’t be sorry if Carvalhal chooses to go elsewhere, but this was always likely to happen given the strung out manner in which the club are going about this. We are not a massive draw, and you can’t expect a manager who has offers elsewhere to sit twiddling his thumbs waiting for us to make a decision.
  5. As manager? Agreed, he obviously hasn’t, but we all know how Venkys listen to certain people, and perhaps Myers is one of those people. I would not be surprised if Ferguson ends up getting it.
  6. Re - Duncan Ferguson, I wonder if Alan Myers is still in contact with Venkys? I can’t help thinking that he will be the one pushing Ferguson’s case.
  7. The only one of the three without a recent promotion from the Championship on his CV. I would take Carvalhal, and it would be interesting, but I don’t get the hype about him when I look at his career. Would people be so enamoured with him if he was called Fred Bloggs? I’ll be happy with anyone other than the obvious horror options, egs Grayson, Appleton, Pulis.
  8. Their Rovers reporter is new in post and is basically summarising what other reporters have already said.
  9. Exactly, so this will immediately test the current level of ambition. The desperadoes will no doubt agree to keeping the existing staff.
  10. Yes, you get the feeling the interviews with Waggott are the equivalent of speaking with someone from Human Resources prior to the real thing. No doubt the agents of candidates will be in contact with the owners, too.
  11. Was Farke ever ‘here’? Re - Carvalhal, it seems he is waiting on us to go through the rest of our list, but that is hardly going to help persuade him to join. That is the problem with doing it this way. It’s going to annoy the better candidates on the list.
  12. Carlos might be chomping at the bit, but our magnificent leaders need to ask the crucial questions to all candidates, eg cream or jam first on a scone?
  13. It worries me that Wagner failed miserably in his next job after Huddersfield. Maybe they were destined to be his one moment in the Sun.
  14. Yeah, I reckon the same. I know you can’t read too much into betting patterns, but Ferguson’s name has been bubbling around for a good while. I reckon there will be one or two real horror names in there. Prepare to be underwhelmed.
  15. If we had “experts” running the club, they would’ve identified their number one target and gone after him, (and then moved on to the second choice, if necessary). The pussyfooting around sums up the wisdom vacuum at the club. Would love to be a fly on the wall at the interviews, to listen to the questions.
  16. No, it’s definitely Stuart. He’s bought a house in Langho, pass it on 😉
  17. Friiedel as DOF, fine, but it would be a classic, populist appoint an ex-player scenario, (is Shebby pulling a few strings from beyond the grave? ) Has zero previous experience in that role. Friedel as manager / head coach = no ta. Has demonstrably not cut it in that role. Absolutely loved him as a player, but that means nothing.
  18. I can see Pearce ending up at QPR. He’s very London centric. Just can’t see him upping sticks and moving to Lancashire at 60.
  19. This has a nostalgic whiff of Ray Wilkins (RIP) has bought a house in Wilpshire 🙂
  20. Agreed, I think he will make the step up. No-one could’ve done a better job with the resources available at Wycombe. I won’t mind if we end up with the likes of Farke, but history tells us that’s unlikely.
  21. He’s the favourite for that job. Mr Nixon reckons he’s also on our shortlist. Maybe QPR have always had him as their top target and were just waiting for the League One Play Offs to conclude. I reckon that’s where he will end up.
  22. This is the problem at the rudderless ship that is Rovers. Just randomly deciding to have a Director of Football, without knowing what exactly that entails and who is accountable to who. Dogs Dinner.
  23. ……but not promotion with Wednesday. Agreed, an upgrade on Mowbray. I’d be happy enough with him, but there are two or three others I would prefer. I think the difficulty in getting the likes of Carvalhal and Farke will be they will have very firm ideas about how they plan to do the job, which may well not match up with what Rovers are offering, eg back room staff and Director of Football. If we could get Webber from Norwich, that would appeal to Farke, but how likely is that? We are asking Venkys to finally do things the right way. Enough said.
