  1. Well hopefully we will bring in a couple of decent signings on a perm with one at least being an attacking player. Rich Sharp and the telegraph seem to change the story every 5 minutes the article in the telegraph yesterday suggested 3 loans and 2 perm today it was 3 loans and 1 perm with the perm being a centre half and now this tweet. Maybe I'm just better off not taking any notice of the telegraph but can help being worried with the season so close and the window closing soon
  2. Yeah mate thats what the telegraph are suggesting today
  3. But why sign Downing on a permanent it just doesn't make sense, if Mowbray feels he is not good enough to step up which presumably he doesn't if we are lining up another centre half then he should have been thanked for his service and not given a full time contract
  4. The new contracts have nothing to do with it though. If our budget was going on giving our existing players improved contracts then don't mislead the fans by telling us about exciting attacking players being lined up, the club can't be built on loans etc Simply say our budget has been used to improve our existing player contracts, We will have to use the loan market
  5. I know but Davenport and Rothwell combined is 750-800k we recieved 425k from the Mahoney tribunal so we have had a net spend of 400k max And I meant a centre back being our only permanent signing between now and the window shutting
  6. Even if a cheap deal if he isn't good enough and Mowbray feels he can't step in then he shouldn't have been signed. If another centre half is brought in then he won't be getting any minutes. Caddis,Gladwin,Hart and Downings wages combined could have gone on someone who could contribute as none of those will next season. Can't understand why Caddis in paticular was given a 2 year deal and whoever recommended Hart shouldn't be listened to again.Cant remember if it was on here I read it but I'm sure I read it was David Lowe who recommended Hart to Mowbraym
  7. Yes ok Tomphill but on Mowbray's return from India it could have been said by Mowbray that we have "limited funds, this season is about consolidation and building brick by brick". I don't see why we were told that we have a competitive budget,Have some exciting attacking talent lined up etc Less than a week away from kick off and we haven't replaced any of Chapman,Armstrong, Antonnson and Payne. I'm still hoping we are going to see something exciting happen but if only a back up centre half is brought in on a perm im going to be beyond disappointed. I'm not expecting millions to be spent but having only had a net spend of roughly 400k at this stage of the window is extremely disappointing and it's making me feel like the club are taking the piss out of the fans again and ruining the feel good factor that had built up last season
  8. Nuttall could be decent but even the manager was saying last week that he would like to send him out on loan so he can play games on a regular basis but has'nt been let out yet due to us not bringing in anyone. If Nuttall is still here after August 31st then it's obvious our transfer window hasn't gone to plan. I did think Samuel played well against Everton and I do think he has a little something so I'm not writing him off but like you I don't think he is a centre forward. Anyway I suppose all we can do is wait and see who we bring in and hopefully Sharp is wrong about only bring one perm and it being a centre half
  9. You would be confident going into the season with only Nuttall and Samuel as back up to Graham who we know will miss games through fitness this season? In fairness Biz I respect your opinion but even the manager doesn't fancy Samuel as a Centre forward, against Liverpool he played Dack as a false 9 and against Everton he had Samuel playing wide of a 3, even last season when Samuel got minutes it was rare that it was at C.F, certainly after the first couple of months of the season. Nuttall is raw in time he could develop but imo he is not ready for championship football.
  10. We are a week away from the start of the season and I would say one injury away(Graham)from being in a relegation battle. Could accept loan signings if our "competitive" budget had to go on a striker which left us short on funds. What I can't understand is if we are only bringing in 1 perm, then why are we spending what little funds we have on an area in centre half where we are well stocked. If Mowbray didn't think Downing was good enough to step in why was he signed on a permanent deal in the first place?
  11. Jack Harrison having a medical at Leeds. Mckay close to joining Swansea for 500 k. Fair enough Harrison is only a loan deal but McKay at 500 grand is a very good signing .
  12. It was the manager who said that you can't build a club with loan signings. I have no problem with us loaning players but if they come in alongside permanent deals. Are you not dissapointed that we have only spent roughly 400k this summer? Do you not find it odd that the telegraph are suggesting that our only permanent signing will be a centre back?
  13. I would have accepted it if they where honest about it.But we have been told all summer that we have a competitive budget, we will see some exciting talent coming in etc etc To date we have spent 400k max if you take into account the 425k we recieved for Mahoney
  14. So yesterday it was 2 perm signings but now it's one which will be a back up centre half.Absolute joke
  15. That's my worry chadster that we don't have the money to do those deals. Despite my ramblings I do hope that I'm wrong and that Mowbray has someone decent lined up
  16. Why do we keep getting told we have a competitive budget then? They are charging me to lie to my face. I thought the lieing to the fans had stopped. I'm on one tonight and I do hope I'm wrong but come on how many things have changed in this window, first the manager said he wanted a goalkeeper to challenge Raya now there is no mention of goalkeeper ,We wanted our buisness done early, I didn't expect that to be Austria but we are less than a week away from kick off If they weren't given much money if they said at the beginning then fans would be angry but would be more likely to rally round the team and manager If a player like Chapman is available at that price and you have a competitive budget then you take a chance. If managed correctly and if he is only an impact sub he can still create a bit of magic that will win us a game.He is doing well pre season
  17. I'm still clinging to the hope we have someone decent lined up that might cost a bit and for whatever reason it hasn't fallen into place yet but I'm telling you im gonna be majorly pissed off if deadline day comes around and we throw in a couple of pathetic bids for decent players that we know won't get accepted to just to show they are trying. Competitive budget for what to at best finish 14th.
  18. The mail are reporting that McKay from Forest is close to joining Swansea for 500 grand,he would have been a decent signing. Il be honest I bought into what Mowbray said about having a competitive budget now I'm thinking iv been a fool. The thing that annoys me most is we actually have a decent set of fixtures to start the season off but we are not giving any of the potential incomings a chance to bed in. I'm not buying when people bring up the crazy market as an excuse,Mowbray has been in the game a long time , enquiries would have been out before the trip to India we would have known the prices.
  19. Have we been linked with Oliveria? He would be a good signing
  20. Exactly this, people bang on about they don't want to see us making the same mistakes bringing in the likes of Best,Etuhu etc for big money and on big contracts and then in the same breath say they trust Mowbray. If they trust Mowbray then surely they would like to see him have some money to work with. I'm not saying we should be spending 5 or 10 million on players but spending 400k here and there on players will get us nowhere. If the club doesn't show any ambition then our better players like Dack will be agitating for a move away
  21. The problem is to date we have brought in 2 perm signings, Davenport and Rothwell for a combined 750-800k factoring in we recieved 425k from the Mahoney tribunal thus far we have spent a paltry 325-375k. I want to see a little ambition, happy with the Palmer signing and would be ok with the Nmencha signing but only if the two perms brought in(if they happen)are good enough to improve our first 11. Rich Sharpe has been tweeting tonight that one of the perm signings will be a centre half, whoever comes in in that position will be a back up player. I will be dissapointed if we only bring 1 attacking player in on a permanent deal.Would you not be dissapointed with that?
  22. Chaddy, nobody is saying they don't trust Mowbray. The market is what it is,the price of players has gone up we can complain about it all we want and to an extent I agree we shouldn't be going crazy but after the good season we had last year and a bit of a feel good factor returning to Ewood and the rise in season ticket prices then I expected the owners to back Mowbray a little better. To date we have spent about 800k on 2 young players which is nothing really.Like I said I wasn't expecting millions to be spent but I thought he might have been given the funds and the go ahead to bring in 3 or 4 around the 2 or 2.5 million mark. The owners always release statements telling us they are committed to getting the club back to the premier league if that's true then they need to be loosening the purse strings
  23. When the Palmer deal first broke both in the telegraph and SSN said the paperwork would be completed on monday
  24. I disagree.I thought Armstrong played well as part of a three behind a lone front man and if I was him I'd be working hard to make that a permanent position. I don't think he has the height or strength to play up front on his own and it's rare you see teams playing with two strikers these days. I agree he isn't an out and out winger but either side in a three I could see him developing into a very good player
  25. Wharton is left footed, id presume that when Mulgrew is injured then Mowbray would put Williams in at centre half and Bell at lb. Wharton will benefit from playing every week, I know there is an argument that he should have been loaned to a league one side but imo I don't think there is a huge gap between league 1 and 2.It could be that Mowbray feels he needs work on the physical side of his game and coming up against big lumps every week will toughen him up. I don't believe for 1 second that we will be signing Greer. Has there actually been something concrete that he will be joining or is this on the back of him being at the festival?
