I disagree, I'm not saying we need 5 wingers what I'm saying is I would be worried going into the new season If it was Chapman and Kent brought in,One or the other I'm ok with. Chapman has injury issues and Kent had a poor season last year. I would be happy with Chapman signing but we need at least one wide man who can come straight into the side,Mowbray has already said Chapman wouldn't be starting
-
Sorry I meant out wide.I wouldn't want to go into the new season with Conway,Bennett,Chapman and Kent as our options out wide. Be happy with Conway,Bennett,Chapman or Kent and another who will come in really improve the team and be a regular starter.Imo Maddison has what it takes to make the step up and could be a bargain for whoever gets him
-
We will agree to disagree. We can have this conversation at the end of the season...if Nyambe is regularly targetted, costs us points, has a poor season and looks out of his depth then I will hold my hands up and say you were right. But if he has a good season I will hope you will do the same. He did have a good season last year and you are in the minority who thinks he didn't
-
Agree with you on Nyambe, he still needs some help with improving his game but I do think the things he lacks can be coached into him. I would like us to sign Chapman and I wouldn't be against signing Kent but id be worried if those where the two we brought in and nobody else. Chapman has injury problems and Mowbray has already stated he wouldn't be starting.Kent has just had a very poor season. I'd go for one or the other, with Chapman being my favourite as we would be more likely to sign him permanently.
-
Give us some transfer news to discuss then? It's linked in to transfer talk as we are discussing the merits of signing another full back. If it bores you then don't read it.
-
I am a season ticket holder yes I missed two home games last season due to work. He did have a good season and he was not targetted and if you think so then I'd question wether you attended last season. I guarantee a lot more people thought he had a good season rather than a bad one. The people slating him are the the ones who have been on his back from day 1.
-
Not sure about wing back but as a full back Nyambe is good enough still young and improving. He doesn't get targetted every match either. Are you one of those who once he makes his mind up about someone that it?It won't change. Nyambe had a very good season last year, he wasn't targetted every match. To suggest otherwise is just nonsense
-
I do think he can step up Chaddy he is at a good age , he has just had a great season and he could prove to be a great signing. It's relatively cheap compared to some other players being sold. I do rate Kent but he did have a very poor year last year and if Liverpool do put penalty clauses in his deal where we have to pay x amount if he doesn't play could end up costing a tidy sum if he shows the form he had last year. Like Maddison has looked talented whenever iv seen him but granted I have a life so I don't watch 90 minutes of peterboro unless playing rovers so I don't know what he has been like over 90 but his stats are very impressive I wouldn't be against signing Kent but only if we can't get someone decent on a permanent deal first like Maddison...we take Kent on loan and if he has an ok but not spectacular season we might get Liverpool to sell him but if he does have a great season they will probably take him back and either give him a chance there (doubtful)or sell him to a team who can afford to pay more than us
-
Not looking for an argument with you or criticizing your opinion but can I ask why you would prefer to sign Kent on loan ahead of Maddison? What is it you don't like about Maddison?
-
Wilson in paticular would be an excellent loan signing. I really would love us to sign Maddison and a decent striker. I'm a big Danny Graham fan but have my doubts he will stay fit and playing 3 games in a week will be too much for him most likely. We can't be going into the season with only Samuel and Nuttall as cover for Graham. I'm relaxed about the situation though as I think we will make signings but hopefully we can at least get a couple in the next week to.10 days
-
Me too
-
I'd definitely take Maddison before Kent. But I have seen Kent a few times and there is a player in there and we may have a better chance of signing him on a perm,Woodburn and Wilson we wouldn't have a chance of signing permanently and Wilson has an awful lot of clubs after him on loan I'd say it would be hard for us to get him
-
Mowbray wants a goalkeeper doesn't he?
-
Perthblue made the tweet up.jesting with Biz.Its not a Nixon tweet

We definitely need more attacking options but since going down Raya has secured the number 1 spot much better option than Steele.Nyambe has improved and is now a better player than what he was,Lenihan and Mulgrew have developed a good partnership at centre half, first half of the season we went down they where playing midfield so most certainly our back line is stronger than when we went down. For me Smallwood is an upgrade on Lowe who was playing in his position when we went down.Hopefully Davenport can show some quality and nail down a position in midfield but if not we have Evans who played the season we went down so no difference. We now have Dack who imo is a better attacking option than anything we had the season we went down. We need 2 first choice wide men and a quality striker to compete with Graham for the lone front man role but still in my view we are in a much better place than when we went down
-
The telegraph stated Mowbray was looking for 6 signings but that was before Davenport and Rothwell were brought in
-
New deal for Dack close according to Sharp from telegraph
-
Mulgrew is getting on and I'd be presuming he would want to be keeping his options open as he will only have one move left in him.I don't envisage a new deal for Mulgrew at this point,I think both parties will want to reassess at the end of the season
-
Or clubs are waiting until they have replacements lined up before they agree to sell? We obviously don't have much money so we can't be affording to over spend and get the deals done quickly by paying a premium. We don't know what conversations have been had...taking Armstrong as one example , conversations could have been had with Newcastle but they could be telling us they won't release him until they have people in themselves,Chapman it could be down to Pulis wanting to have a look at him before a decision is made.Fact is we don't know, none of us do. I want new signings that will improve our first 11 as much as the next fan but I don't want us to be over spending on targets either
-
I'l be honest I don't blame the club for not spending 2 million on a league 1 centre back with only 12 months left on his contract. I don't expect millions to be spent but I do think we will bring in a couple over the million mark. 500k for Davenport isn't cheap to be fair he looks a good un and hopefully will be a bargain. But as it stands he has played a max of 20 senior games so spending 500k on him isn't penny's.
-
Sharp from the telegraph has been pretty adamant that Edwards wasn't one that Mowbray was targetting so not surprised it's not us who have agreed a fee.Decent player hopefully TM has someone better lined up
-
Presumably the majority of those 105 goals conceded where when we were last in the championship? Since then Mulgrew has played centre back full time rather than in midfield. Lenihan has grown into the centre backs roll and Nyambe has improved also. We need some attacking options in as a priority minimum 2 wingers and a striker before we go bringing in a centre back imo
-
He hasn't scored goals or hardly played in the last 2 years wouldn't be calling 3 million for a year blinding buisness just yet
-
Think Marshall was 1.5 mill
-
3 million is the cost of the whole package including his wages. The loan fee wasn't 3 million
