  1. It is odd that Nyambe hasn't signed on for anyone yet.Missing pre season for whichever club he chooses to join puts him behind in claiming a place in the starting 11. Perhaps it is true that his agent is looking for a deal beyond Nyambe's ability
  2. An 18 year old without a senior appearance for Man City signed for Southampton for £14 Million this summer. Playing for a City reserves would probably give him a better chance of playing for England u-20 or u-21s than playing for our first team. Not saying I agree with that but it's the way it is.
  3. So if a big 6 club is offering 10-15k a week like they often give top young players then we should match it? Far more highly rated young players don't live up to their potential than the ones who actually do. Yes we should be making him a good offer and doing our utmost to get him to put pen to paper but I also don't think the club should be open to too much grief for not being able to compete with one of the top clubs for his signature
  4. Again do you know we haven't made him a very good offer? Don't come back saying "obviously not good enough". We can't compete with the big clubs like most others including teams in the premier league
  5. Tell me 47er what the club could have done regarding Phillips? My point on Haddow Is we werent competing with a big 6 club for his signature. But we were competing with at least one premier league club, and we won Like my post said every club outside the so called big clubs is vulnerable to losing their better youngsters because those clubs can afford to set a talent up for life we along with most other clubs can't do that.
  6. A big six club can offer a contract that can set him and his family up for life. This happens to premier league clubs aswell, losing their prized youngsters to big 6 clubs.Even other day an 18 year old Arsenal were desperate to keep left for Chelsea. You say "our" journey to becoming the modern day Crewe like we are the only club at risk of losing its better young players to a club with far more financial clout and standing in the game. Did I see your post praising the club for convincing Haddow to sign a new deal turning down premier league interest? The problem is the rules, making it so easy for another club to poach a young player who has spent a considerable time at their current club
  7. Yeah but we lost deadwood that were on decent enough money.Bj 10k per week and Davenport who wasn't even making the squad half the time.20 k in wages there.I honestly think there is a high probability Garrett would contribute just as much as both combined and what's he on?Couldn't the savings there go to paying a higher wage to a better player? I have to question the wisdom of Tomosson taking the job on if he doesn't even have enough money to go to the likes of Barnsley and take Styles and Brittain. He might claim to not know what's going on but by the way he is speaking specifically after the Accrington and then Dundee games about Davies etc he came across to me as someone who thought we had the finances to complete a few deals
  8. So that reported interest in Anel that went Sheffield United wasn't true? That wouldn't have been a loan as he was out of contract next summer
  9. He had 6 months left on his deal when Liverpool bought him. If he had been under a longer contract and a team wanted to buy him at that time Preston would have been looking for at least £5 million for him. He was one of the better defenders in the Championship at that time.
  10. I still call bullshit on Hourihane.Only a couple are genuine itk and even they get stuff wrong. Even if (I don't believe it)Hourihane did turn us down says more about him going to play in league one rather than testing himself at the highest level available to him and the decision most likely would have been due to playing time.He wouldn't get in ahead of Buckley alongside Travis imo. And as for Cantwell...you reckon the club contacted Nixon to put a story out to fool us stupid fans into thinking we are looking at decent players?
  11. Cantwell hasn't gone anywhere Hourihane turning us down is bullshit Apart from a couple on here saying they would like Colak has there been one legitimate link that we made an offer for him? It's enough that we haven't brought anyone in yet. We don't need to make things up to slag the club off when there are enough legitimate reasons to give the club grief over
  12. If we were serious about Davies then the deal Should have been done last week before Rangers sold Bassey for £20 million
  13. Nixon saying Rangers are close to an agreement for Davies
  14. Agreed, I wasn't saying it will definitely work out for us here my post was more in response to the post I quoted were the poster said it isn't seen over here as it doesn't work.
  15. It is coming more into the English game and the same set up is seen at quite a few clubs. Farke at Norwich was Head coach ,Webber led the way with signings. Huddersfield last season Coberan was head coach someone else led the way with signings Klopp at Liverpool, has the final say on targets(like JDT will) but Edwards came up with the lists of players for Klopp to choose from. Other clubs are going down this route and tbh I think it is the correct way to go(once a head coach doesn't have a player he doesn't want forced on him)
  16. Rangers and Burnley want Davies now according to the sun and Nixon https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/19223493/ben-davies-liverpool-transfer-burnley-rangers-stoke-blackburn/
  17. Blackpool have accepted a bid from us for Bowler?
  18. https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/19223405/blackburn-ben-brereton-diaz-sevilla-transfer-news/ Nixon
  19. Do you still think we don't need any comment from Broughton?
  20. Before that.He had agreed the Boro deal pre Broughton. I can't say 100% he was offered £22k per week but I can 100% say that is what Lenihen said despite what JB says
  21. Another poster on here said about the 22k per week contract offer from a different source than me. My ex house mate from London has known Lenihen since childhood, was at his wedding as I was and when asked Darragh said the last offer he received was 22k per week.It was too late and he had already decided on Boro.
  22. A championship club can't be paying their top talents what the top 6 clubs pay them.Be realistic here A city ,a Liverpool, a united can afford to pay an untested 16/17 year old 15k a week and get it wrong. Agree about Lenihen and the others. But the structure and ceiling has obviously been looked as Lenihen did get that offer. And Travis an academy graduate signed a long term deal last season and would have got a significant increase on his money
  23. Lenihen was offered 22k per week that is from the horses mouth. Travis was happy to sign a long term deal last year. If we lose Phillips not sure how the club can be criticized for it?He is the top young talent of his age in the country and every big club in the country is looking at him. Do you honestly believe even bottom half prem teams don't lose their top talents to top 6 clubs when they come calling? It happens all the time. If he ends up at one of those clubs fair enough but if he ends up at one of the big 6 then it's unfortunate for us but not too sure what you expect the club to do put a gun to his head and force him up put pen to paper? City ,Pool, United ,Chelsea etc pay some of their under 18s 15+ grand a week
