  1. Ha! But I won’t reciprocate. Smallwood is fast looking like our weak link sadly. It happens when other players get better and we bring in better ones. He needs to improve quickly and be more unsung hero in this division. We still need to keep improving all over the pitch. There’s no room for sentiment I’m afraid. Anyway, Mowbray has picked a bright, attacking side, we are playing well against a team “supposedly” far strong than us, and it’s 1-0 at half time and I’m supping a beer. Let’s enjoy it while it lasts.
  2. Let’s not go there. Just enjoy the game instead of looking for people to spar with!
  3. Get in!! We do look so good going forward at pace.
  4. How’s he doing with those channels though? Not seen the stats tbf.
  5. There is just ‘something’ missing. A deep lying playmaker possible.
  6. Mine too. I live in Blackburn and don’t have a radio apart from in the car!
  7. Hate that you can’t listen to Radio Lancs online due to “copyright reasons”. It’s on the radio!!
  8. If they can’t fit him in or develop him then they can’t command £8m sorry. Has to be a low initial fee, some add-ons and a sell-on. Talk about having your cake and eating it too!
  9. £8m for Forest’s fourth choice striker. A club who haven’t been in the PL for 20 years. Sounds ridiculous!
  10. Sky’s take on the formation. Quite pleased with that... only the gruesome twosome that worries me but we’ll see.
  11. Rovers change to a video tweet to avoid being pasted onto social media, yet a third party are already out with the team. Bet 10 will be pleased.
  12. Palmer and Arma stay, Graham on the bench. Smallwood, Evans and Bennett return. Travis and Rothwell on the bench.
  13. Ironic though that Travis is also a right back and is now seen as too raw to be in our centre midfield, and needs to go out on loan while Nyambe gets preferential treatment despite being similarly raw at first - and still prone to errors. Maybe Travis need to change his agent...?
  14. Not him per se but it is a less attacking than Armstrong. It’ll be interesting to see the line up after such an emphatic win last time out.
  15. Nyambe has been given game time in a much more exposed position. His early decision making was poor but he has grown a lot. No reason Travis needs to go elsewhere now.
  16. No I hadn’t realised - thanks. I wish you’d have told me yesterday when I made that mistake though. I did bring back Bennett to shore up the midfield in place of Conway. But I could be persuaded to bring back Evans or Smallwood in place of Travis as well. Where I don’t think we should let Hull off the hook though is with our attack. Palmer, Dack, Rothwell and Armstrong could cause them real problems. Dropping three of them to play Graham, Bennett, and Evans, and bringing Smallwood (or even keeping Conway) is a negative move and could well invite pressure and see us trying to play on the break with no real pace to capitalise on it. Despite Hull’s poor start (worse than us - they are below us) this was probably a game in our draw target column. Having dropped 2 points in our first two games, this would be an opportunity to upgrade that target and go for three points then make more conservative changes later in the game. Let’s at least go for it. 1 point isn’t that much better than 0. (That’s why they changed the win tally from 2 to 3 points nearly 40 years ago - to make teams go for wins more than draws). Fun fact: I actually like the Iraqi league version of the rule. It would give managers like Bowyer and Mowbray nightmares though. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/1994–95_Iraqi_National_League
  17. I would be delighted if we use the next 3 or 4 windows to assemble a fantastic squad of players. Just can’t see it though. Besides that’s not how football works. Agents will not buy into this scheme unless we sign them on new improved deals every season. I too am worried about CB. Lenihan and Mulgrew have history of bad injuries. We do not have decent cover in this area and would be looking at using Williams, Downing, Smallwood or even Nyambe at this stage. Good to have some flexibility but CB is a position you need to be commanding. None of those could really step in and be a rock. Maybe I’m being overly ambitious to expect such a player to come in as third choice but it’s what we need if we are going to have a squad strong enough to compete right through the season. EDIT: I’d feel a little more comfortable if we had a short recall on Wharton or if it looked like Grayson or Doyle or even Magloire were getting any first team (bench) experience.
  18. A quick where are they now since that Jan 2016 window... Jackson 29yo ex Norwich - now at L1 Walsall ?? Bennett 27yo ex Norwich - first team ?? Ward 31yo ex Norwich - on loan at MK Dons ?? Graham 30yo (loan) - first team ?? Grimes 21yo (loan) - on Swansea’s books but perennially loaned out ?? Gomez 31yo (loan) - now out in Cyprus ?? Looks like he was playing the loan game and pulling in favours from players he used to work with. Getting Bennett and Graham through the door and Ward as cover has to make his permanent signing score 2.5 out of 4. Overall 2 great, 2 reasonable, 2 poor. I’d have trusted him to spend money on the right players and the right characters. It does just show though that the Rhodes money was never really Rovers’ to spend and was likely a ‘special’ deal - as rumoured - that turned a profit (as a transfer at least).
  19. Let’s not just make stuff up. Bowyer brought in DJ Campbell before Lambert joined.
  20. Lambert is much maligned on here for some reason. I think it’s bitterness because he left but yet faced with what he was faced with when Venkys didn’t give him the Rhodes money I have to admire his morals to stand up to them. Bennett is one of the players I credit with turning us around as a team and as a club. He spoke very highly of Lambert.
