  1. Sadly, that's largely true for the yoofs who attend.
  2. China in your hand - T'Pau (Great shout btw RoyRover)
  3. We don't need to invent the tune. You hum it, I'll sing it.
  4. Robbo for England? We do need some more player chants though. The last one was probably Salgado (oh oh o-oh). What chants are they?
  5. Elysium - what an action-packed ride. Think District 9 (minus aliens) meets Mad Max (a bit) meets Running Man but good. Ignore the pretentious reviews and enjoy.
  6. It's all down to the pitch. Winning the toss has been the decider in every test.
  7. It won't be zero for long, it's just an incentive to get people buying new cars, with smaller engines. But worry not, that money you don't pay is being paid by someone else on your behalf when their tax went up significantly to compensate. I highly the Exchequer is out of pocket, quite the opposite I'm sure. Enjoy your free rides though... think of it like being on benefits while tax payers look after you!
  8. Bogus argument. It's a tax on vehicles, not individuals. The vehicle they travel in/on will be taxed. Except for bicycles... It's something we should aspire to though. It's easy for town planners/politicians we can't adapt ALL the roads so let's do nothing. Makes sense. If you were to cause an accident, at least you won't get sued! Didn't realise there were policies for cycling. I guess when it's not compulsory, other finances will take priority for a lot of people.
  9. I can sit in my driveway polluting as much as I want with a SORN. Face it, it's road tax - by stealth, if you prefer. Bikes should be taxed by the same token. Use the money specifically to improve the road systems to incorporate safe cycling, and everyone's a winner! I'm curious though, you are insured for cycling?
  10. On the topic of the mealy term, Vehicle Excise Duty, and in Abbey's defence: if it isn't really road tax, why do I not have to pay if my vehicle is kept on private property (SORN) and only pay it when it is on the road? Let's not pretend, eh.
  11. Cyclists are not, and never will be equal on the road. At least not until they can cause the amount of damage to a car and driver, as the driver and car can do to them, in a collision. Cyclists always seem to think that they have right of way. They need to reduce the risks that they take as they have a lot more to lose than a car driver. By the way, cycling two abreast is fine apparently, and you should give a full car door width when passing. So you just want the whole road then?
  12. Two abreast may be legal but it makes for a dangerous combination when cars need to overtake - especially when they aren't paying attention because they are chatting.
  13. I'm not a big cyclist although I have experience road riding. I can tell you it can be pretty scary when cars and lorries don't watch out for you - especially when crossing over roundabouts. For that reason I always give a wide berth to them when I'm driving and allow them across in front of me if the are turning. Some cyclists do also need to be mindful of other road users and stop thinking they have equal share of the road. There is an unofficial hierarchy on the roads, with large juggernauts at the top and those OAP-mobiles at the bottom, with cyclists second bottom. I base this on who would come out on top in a collision. Cyclists are not invincible, and don't always have right of way, as many seem to think they do. My biggest bugbears though are when they ride through red lights (thanks for that, David Cameron) and riding two abreast.
