  1. If he wants to leave that’s different - but, imo, he’d need replacing with a new number 1.
  2. I’ve looked up that 22-23 prices (for where I’d sit) were £25 for mid week games (of which there were 4 scheduled when the prices were announced) If my adding up is right, we ended up having 10 weekday matches, 3 of which were cat A so £35. By sheer coincidence, attending all these matches (in JWC) would have cost me exactly the same (£280) with or without your suggestion. But like I said, my personal decision wouldn’t be based on price (although value would be a consideration) - and I’d consider your suggestion to be ‘of value’ for the following reasons: I may ‘win’ or I may ‘lose’ on price, but I think this would be negligible in either direction (this is clearly dependent on how many matches get moved to the week) I am out of the habit (in a big way) of going to matches - joining such a scheme would ‘encourage’ me to get back into attending on a ‘somewhat’ regular basis. Having said all that, you’d probably have been happy with a yes or a no 😁.

  4. ‘Back in the day’ when I knew I’d miss 3-4 games a season, I’d just factor this into whether the price was a good one (for me) Now that it’s a certainty I’d miss all the Saturday matches, the price would have to be very low (probably unfeasibly so) for me to consider this to be of value. I guess there could be a price where I’d at least ‘look into’ the cost (and time involved) in getting to Blackburn by train (would also involve a bus!) - but I’m not sure what this would be. I imagine for most fans price is by far the most important factor, and for many it will be the only factor - like I said I know I’m in a fortunate position regarding the ability to pay.
  5. This Kaminski video is a couple of years old but given a Pears one has been posted, I thought I post this one too:
  6. If I was to buy a ticket it would be in the Jack Walker central - which is currently £529 (I don’t know what the ‘early bird’ price was) That’s £23 a match, which to be honest, I’d probably pay - but I’m in the fortunate position of being able to afford to do so. My ‘problem’ is I’m not local and we only have one car, which my wife needs for work on Saturdays. I think I’m a ‘case in point’ as to why flexibility can be as important as price -if they offered a mid - week only season ticket, I’d probably be interested (at the same price per match as a full season ticket) Clearly they’d have to make an ‘educated guess’ as to how many games would be mid week, I don’t see this as an ‘insurmountable problem’.
  7. I’d be interested in SW’s answer to this: If the club’s data shows decreasing ticket prices doesn’t increase ticket sales, why did they start doing offers and bundles towards the end of the season…
  8. Not much though (I thought of it 😁) - but I take your point regarding SW…
  9. Personally I think he’s stupid and he thinks the fanbase is stupid.
  10. They could have course said it’s x price before x date whichever league we’re in and after that date, the price remains the same if we didn’t go up, but increased if we did.
  11. Maybe I’m giving him too much credit, but I wouldn’t put it past him creating these bundles just to ‘show’ that lower prices don’t make a difference. Like you say, he’s comparing two things which aren’t comparable - it’s just whether or not he’s aware that he’s doing so.
  12. I think they’re also reliant on fans taking them at their word - which seems ludicrous given the last 12 and a half years. I get emails from the club re tickets, including season tickets - but no follow up to find out why I’m not purchasing or what, if anything would make me do so. Maybe they’ll claim GDPR prevents them from doing so, but I don’t believe this is the case.
  13. Thank you for this 😀 I was going to comment on the use of ‘consultation’… All your suggestions sound very sensible - which is probably why they’ve mainly been ignored. Regarding the bit in bold - you can’t persuade someone who doesn’t want persuading As I just commented (in response to SWs reply to Glen) - has the club offered any ‘proof’ that cheaper prices won’t increase sales - or do they just fall back on ‘our data says…?
  14. Taking my bits in bold in order (I only skim read your reply so apologies if you’ve brought these points up already): Jim won’t like this 😁 Is he able to prove this? Would he be willing to share this data? It’s also a regulated industry so there’s no argument to be made. I disagree that it’s a slightly higher price - but if people couldn’t take advantage of the early bird (aka couldn’t afford it) - what makes him think they’ll be able to pay the higher price??
  15. Thanks for this - what were these recommendations? (apologies if these have already been mentioned elsewhere)
  16. Just to add to my earlier post: re point 5: he’s claiming their data says lower prices won’t mean more sales but point 7 suggests they think higher prices can mean more sales - sounds very back to front to me. re point 7: I think someone said our figures last year were 9300, so minus 10% but plus 1500-2000 = 9870 to 10370. The club says ‘around 7000’ took advantage of the early bird offer - I think it’s safe to assume this wasn’t over 7000. This means SW is expecting 2,870 - 3,370 people to buy at the higher (or even higher still) prices - that would be around 30% of all sales. I’d love to understand the ‘logic’ behind his ‘thinking’…
  17. Thank you for sharing this with us: 1. Can anyone from the RT and or FF confirm this? 2. It doesn’t matter how many pay days you give if people don’t have that level of disposable income. 3. Whoopee fucking do 4. A cherry picked figure which he surely can’t be using as something to be proud of 5. He’s seriously suggesting that lower prices doesn’t equal higher sales - what utter utter tosh. 6. And if my uncle had tits he would be my aunt. 7. expecting these figures based on what???? 8. what was the criteria for these awards - and what’s that got to do with the price of fish.
  18. and understand the importance of the ‘intangible benefits’ of more bums on seats.
  19. I’ve found an LT report from 2009 saying we’d sold 17,500 (Blackburn End and Riverside almost sold out) with three weeks to go ‘til the start of that season. The report includes John Williams defending the decision not to extend the £199 offer* to the Darwen End. It mentions they were hoping to match the 95/96 figure of circa 19,000. *3rd cheapest tickets in the whole league (behind Huddersfield and Accrington) Williams also talks about how good it would be to get even more fans in the ground - no mention of the extra revenue though…
  20. By way of comparison, Luton’s highest paid director had a salary of £662,414 plus pension contributions of £7,378. I’ll leave others to decide which club got the better value for money…
  21. Our last set of accounts had our highest paid director (presumably SW) as having a salary of £271,413 + pension contributions of £1,321. If it’s any consolation, this is lower than the previous year’s figure.
  22. Or, just ignore this thread.
