Attendances: A cause for concern
tomphil replied to SIMON GARNERS 194's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
It's a collective. They also keep him in a job when he should have been potted and pay him the thick end of a million quid a year. We know the owners role in it all but to constantly try and move any culpability whatsoever from Mowbray is wrong. I wouldn't expect us to sign someone like Tosin or Harrison Reed, who Mowbray wanted to play second fiddle to the likes of Bennett, Evans and Smallwood. That had the square root of nothing to do with the 4 absent heads in Pune. By his own words he was offered big money after promotion to try for the double bounce and by his own words he declined it. He then spent 6.5 million on a young project signing that has taken 3 seasons to bear fruit. Then he'll be sold probably despite these owners offering him a double or treble your wages contract. That's where Tony's head is at in this job, by the way will you be moaning about wages if BBD actually signed a new one ? Who directed recent seasons budgets into Downing, Trybull, Johnson, Holtby etc ? Doubtful it was the Raos unless they are still involved where they shouldn't be via their 3rd party friends. -

The amount of good players who'll leave one way or another in summer won't help. All this building the team, club, journey stuff will be proven to be a load of old bluster again when guys like Hedges are being brought in to replace them. Tony will be hailed ( mostly by himself) as the messiah again keeping us in midtable. -
Club before country.

Don't worry there;s always Sunderland, Ipswich, Pompey and Sheff Weds to fall back on for the scaremongerers. Also it's interesting that it could be Coventry who all but kill us off in the top 6 this weekend. -

A division higher but unlike them we'll probably be selling another star striker - 2nd season on the trot - for 15 million plus. So there should be a bit of wiggle room in the finances and a need to pacify fans because - for the 2nd season on the trot - he won't be replaced. -

Well since promotion from league 1 he's managed to create a year on year decline in ST sales and home crowds in general. Only this season has that trend been bucked but we still aren't back to pre Coyle respectable numbers. During that time he'll have earned over a million pounds in salary plus benefits etc. Real food for thought. -

As is life with everything now it seems but you'd think a smaller fan friendly club that desperately needs all the support it can get, new, old, casual, would still be able to provide a more hands on service. -

I don't think its been awful just a bit misquided and lacking in areas we really need to complete the jigsaw this Jan. -

Bone idle they are. The people paid good money to dream up this shit are where the cost cutting should begin. -

I suspect the hassle of being moderately successful for a third of this season and the trouble of trying to boost crowds and manage fresh expectation has got one or two yearning for a summer reset. Back to 8k, max pricing, team of loans and kids with bigger earners and stars moved on. No expectation, no hassle happy midtable days. -
Good fight although clear Martinez is done now so i hope he retires. Well done to Warrington, not sure how Vegas would cope with thousands of Leeds bell ends knocking about.

That's why they'll all be getting new ones otherwise it's a massive change or find someone who will just work with them and vice versa. Option 2 is Venus or Johnson stepping up of course, neither is a good idea imo so it really is going to be the devil we know. Just pray that they hand out sensible contracts not 3 years or more.

The transition to possession which effectively wasted two seasons needs an airing here as well. That was down to him and lets not forget his delusional comments as it went pear shaped. He frequently said he was happy after defeats because he thought certain individuals played well. That was bizarre in itself but gave a massive indication as to his mindset and how he sees himself in a different light. Hes rightly had credit for ditching it this season so he isn't getting panned for the bad stuff whilst the good is ignored.

For crying out loud he was orchestrating the first half of that Derby game and we were plain awful and losing 1-0. He sat in the dugout the vast majority of the second half and Venus was clearly instructing the team and prepping the subs. We won 3 - 1 so maybe we should be crediting the coaching staff for that before the manager. He was back orchestrating it on the sidelines the game after, we were poor again mostly and lost.

Maybe Blackpool are just holding off on sales at their end because they haven't got the massive allocation. -

Neither. Just a very experienced second level plodder and always has been and mostly does what its said on the tin with what he has to work with. One good season every 4 years, one bad one and rest of the time middle of the road, capable of over achieving for small spells and under achieving for slightly longer ones. Far more at home and much more comfortable plodding along in mid table and jiggling with the team every week to keep everyone happy. Not driven or ruthless enough for promotion but very driven to maintain the status quo and his job. Works for an ownership that seems very happy with this. -

He remains one constant rather suspicious presence with i suspect fingers in a few pies. -
Billionare owners who employ poundshop people to run and manage the club. Jack would've employed better.
-
It'll take until the accounts come out to really know but i'm of the opinion it was just covering money already put in for running costs. Go out into facebook and twitter land and there are still people thinking there'll be a 16 million summer war chest for Mowbray. Not that he'd even spend it if there was.

250 sounds a good number for a price in order to sell 10/11k season tickets. Ewood are you listening ? No need to piss about changing prices every week next season, get most in in one hit please. -
The main issue is if he comes back this summer with a shiny new 3 year contract then has a 1 in 10 run before Christmas... That's entirely possible and we know he won't get sacked even if they wanted because it would cost to much. So any new contract should reflect what we've learned from his management and what they actually want from him. It should be nothing more than a one year rolling deal or two years absolute max. I think it's nailed on we are in for a rerun of the last 4 years though with the chances of relegation again just as strong as any top 6 finish. Fingers crossed for the remainder of this season because it is a pivitol point in the clubs recent history.

Nothing at Rovers is ever sorted properly until the summer summit meetings with the full ownership crew. Any time between June and August depending on family holidays and other stuff. And nobody will rock that boat. -
I dread to think how much the management and coaching staff are costing.

We can't live in fear forever because the day will come he moves on or retires or just needs a good break from management. The scaremongers and snowflakes in our fanbase need to get to grips with this and understand others don't see why the club should have to dance to his tune until he decides to switch the music off. It's about Blackburn Rovers not any individual and at some point to move forward for the club and him there'll have to be a parting of the ways. I think most would like it to be an amicable one where we say thanks to each other and wish each other all the best. So those upstairs should be monitoring this season and last very closely and have a plan in place. Something a bit more dynamic than digging out the HSH unwanted list. -

They seem to prefer to waste millions rather than invest it.
