I wouldn't want Hodgson. He's very much in the Mowbray mold, albeit has operated at a much higher level for most of his career. Maybe we can't be picky and he'd be classed as a coup at this stage.

Bang on, said a few times iv'e always thought Mowbray is like a lower league Hodgson.

Asks too much from some bang average players, attacking full backs, complicated systems. Multiple in game changes and doesn't know how to recruit good center backs or target men. Doesn't make the best use of the backing he had and an obsession with playing guys out of position.

That's before we start with the waffle and demeanour.

It was better. 'Much' better is maybe a stretch. It was decent apart from the core weaknesses. The terrible two in central midfield, and for much of the time, like today, a flimsy defence. It was briefly solid in the centre of defence at least, but then we promptly lost Hanley and Duffy. I can't recall if that was before or after Cairney left.

Cairney wide was a criminal misuse of a player by shunting them wide. TM would have been proud of it. He was actually more effective even there than the current incumbents though. Was fuming when we sold him on the cheap.

Cairney was sold first from under GBs nose allegedly.  Just before the season i think although might be wrong on that.

It opened to gates for the fire sale though.

  3. Rothwell is a bit like King in that he can carry the ball from one end to the other almost easily at times. That's when he often comes unstuck but it's something to work on and he has valuable skills.

His manager though is just another limited ambition guy who's terrified of more than one flair player on the park at a time. Just another boss who doesn't know or doesn't want to harness a real talent. Rather have the ball going slowly and safely sideways and backwards so he doesn't have to stand up and bark orders.

I'm surprised they haven't installed a tea and biscuits bar at the back of the dugout for Mowbray !

Also i love the attempt at dressing it up as letting Rothwell go gives a chance to keep Armstrong. More spin and bull.

You could argue that all of that is just tactics. Its when priorities such as youth development or style become more important than results that thing go awry.

The summers talk and the seasons objective has been top 6 but it transitions into the above as time goes on and targets drift out of sight.

The only game or journey Mowbray is on here is the long one to his retirement and that of his gaggle of buddies.

Comfort zone plus 10 he's on here and he realized that years ago. Talk the talk, don't walk the walk then change the talk to suit. It just doesn't matter the owners nod along and shrug their shoulders in tandem.

For one reason or another he’s not been a regular starter for Shrewsbury although when he’s played he’s usually done something. From what bit’s I’ve seen he’s not been playing as a winger but more in the Dack style of position.

I think the injuries he’s had have robbed him of that explosive pace he once had. To be honest I think Shrewsbury is his level now.

They probably can't stretch to what he wants for a wage so he'll get another contract here and be loaned out again.

I just can't see Mowbray ever using him properly in this division and to be honest i'm not sure he's up to it.  I sense an old pals act again here.

That's a waste of nasal evolution. The rest of us can smell his bullshit from miles away.

    Evolution not revolution remember !

That's Tony mantra which the groupies are still clinging to - lets see what we've spent the last 3 years evolving into next season..........

Hopefully Venkys where watching owner rom Leicester City yesterday, it was encouraging to see him embrace the win and enjoy the celebrations with his players. When covid is sorted in India it would be nice to see the owners return and engage with fans and players.

They came over to see the Queen in Blackburn a few days before a match. Then fired off and didn't bother watching their 15 million per year 'baby'.

Just about sums the whole thing up.

  8. Not sure what he's going to concentrate on.  He said defenders were coming years ago then just scrabbled about for a couple of loans. Next he decided to change to possession football which was obviously partly to help our soft defense.  Keep the ball off the opposition and we won't concede as many.

Well it didn't work because we couldn't win in the main and still let in poor goals. So what he's going to try now god only knows.  What we do know though is it'll be over complicated and still blighted by too many changes and rotations. That's a given with his management.

So, THE only stats that matter are the win column and the points column, too fans but not to anyone at Ewood it seems though.

Probably not much more than you, how much do you make? Like I said stats do lie.

Well they don't tell the truth do they really ?

How do you explain constant 60/70% possession stats but losing more than we win ?

And if we are talking stats lets drag up Jason Lowe, certain good stats every week. Coinciding with being the worst player most weeks, running around a lot, touching the ball a lot doesn't make you a good player pal.

It's all about what you do with it.

I respectfully disagree. Whilst he may not mention being away from his family every week, his overall demeanour is that of someone who finds managing the Club an absolute chore.

When we started playing again after the first lockdown he made it pretty obvious he thought we shouldn't be playing at all and that therefore he wanted paying for doing nothing. At that time when the season started we were in an outside chance of the play offs but tailed off dramatically. Unsurprising given the manager's lack of enthusiasm.

This season he has mentioned being away from his family on several occasions. I don't want him to do anything now as I want him gone but the solution would have been either for him to move them down here or resign. I can't imagine he needs the money and family comes first at the end of the day.

There will be numerous managers out there who would consider managing this Club to be an absolute privilege and who wouldn't talk the Club down at every possible opportunity.

He first started whining and whinging about it during another mid season death spiral a year or two ago. Along with saying how hard work it was and how he struggled with leaving players out after they'd trained hard all week.

Only ever starts this crap when he comes under scrutiny for poor form, sob story for everything he has.

Look at Johnson’s stats. Number 1 for distant covered and pass completions. Facts don’t lie, you need to revaluate your perception of the guy. You obviously didn’t like him from the offset.

How from that post smart arse do you deduct i didn't like him from the off ?

My perception of the guy comes from watching him play i don't need dressed up sums to decide if hes been any good or not.  Like i said handy player but not enough left in the tank to be a mainstay in the team. And the slow pace possession game doesn't suit him, fans concerns stem from being caught in two minds in too often in dangerous situations.

On your day you're a good player though Jonno, come on how much are you on then ?

You’ve got me thinking here. What if the plan had been exactly as envisioned BUT with the purchase of land from the neighbouring Brockhall Farm to enable a bigger single complex that didn’t downsize the total facilities?

Now I’ve said it, I’m amazed it wasn’t the plan.

It was just a cash grab that's why, get the PP and flog it or use the rise in value for external borrowings.

Plan B is now run with a trimmed down cheap wage bill next season and hope for the best by looks of it.

Who else at a decent level would sign either of those two . Shrewsbury is about it for either of them.

Plenty for a grand or two a week but probably non for the wages here.

In Bennetts case it looks like a typical TM move, there's a deal on the table son until you decide what you want to do. So that might drag on all summer.

It's long been the case in this era that guys who've bled good championship wages here end up in lge 1 when the Ewood gravy train runs out.

  14. Johnson is solid and has been handy to have around but -yet again- the possession stuff doesn't suit him. One of about half a dozen that it didn't and it was a major reason they struggled for results last season.

When it was a bit more blood and thunder or counter attacking he looked better. The problem with him is simply this, he struggles to maintain a high level of fitness for whatever reason.  That's probably why he ended up here, TM liked a collection of half fit midfielders he could rotate.

Out of those that have left both him and Bennett will be on the lower end of the pay grade, or are prepared to be.  That's why they remain.

I can believe that. He said exactly that in an interview with Andy Bayes not so long ago when he was questioned about our poor form. It angered me as his response to mild questioning was basically "I don't need this" and he gave off the impression that he was doing us a favour by being here.

I see he has got "honesty" and "integrity" in there again as well as mentioning his family. If he ever does get sacked here, just watch the sympathetic reaction he gets from the press as the fans are made out to be 'ungrateful', 'spoilt' and so on. Only at this club, under these owners, can such a charade play out.

He's been sacked for less than last seasons debacle at all his other clubs in the last decade. 2 wins in 18 is a horrific tailspin for any club and to take no responsibility for it whatsoever is even more horrible.

What's even worse is the deluded little mob who go along with that. Just what they expect to see next season with the same manager but possibly a lesser squad than flunked last season i'm really intrigued to know.

And these owners are as big a shower of muppets as they ever have been. Keeping faith with this lot who've got everything they've asked for over the last 4 years yet look set to have us on the verge of the drop again.

    Wake up FFS !
