  1. Pretty similar soundbytes coming out to when we 'missed out' on Bauer. Just before he signed for PNE who were on 10k pwk max cap at the time. Then we signed Downing and Tosin who would easily have cost at least 30 grand per week combined for a year.
  2. To offer him 15 grand per week so the Telerag can say we just missed out !
  3. Both of them went to the wall due to ownership change. Bolton didn't go bust through paying big wages the previous owner took that debt with him. Wish people wouldn't keep dragging them up as comparisons because they aren't.
  4. Yes even if they only used half of it due to restrictions.
  5. Have all these as well it was quite good to be fair. Just shows what people can come up with when they stick to what they are good at. Straying away from that paints a not to pretty picture.
  6. No but if it does then added to all the other outgoings there should be a nice bit of room Downing would be well into double figures. That's still supposed to be available for him to come back so it should be put elsewhere.
  7. This is the situation now, all previous managers quite rightly could point to damage already done previously. Most added to it. Now this very much is the Mowbray roadshow. Nobody outside the ownership ( who although no doubt still cackhanded) have backed him to the hilt. Nobody to throw under the bus now it's his squad 100%.
  8. The wage cap is likely to be a certain figure used as a whole for squad wages. Therefore if they got the likes of Mulgrew out then it should free up a good weekly wage again. It doesn't necessarily mean they can only offer potential signings ten grand per week. Room should still be able to be created.
  9. Bigging up stuff like last time and all the money they'd spent on the training ground etc. You can have all the kit in the world but a car still needs fuel and a driver. Sometimes it all comes down to the very basics.
  10. So Waggo finally checks back in... Bid for several players but agents, wages, player to blame. This has gone up that's gone up, stadium cleaned when we've gone up. Lockdown, Covid, Govt to blame. Checks out again ...
  11. I have a large collection of 90 Mins magazines it was a belter at the time. Fresh interesting and had a bit of vibe and culture about it compared to the other stuff, a bit like most things in the 90's to be fair. Great decade for sport and music. Great decade to be young, i miss it badly ?
  12. Well if names get passed to the owners agents to check out and give the ok (and invoice for it) who represents all that ? Him i'd wager, he's got to be more than just a messenger/spy.
  13. How much of CM's reputed 16 to 25 grand per week are Fleetwood paying i wonder ? My guess would be not very much at all but i reckon Mowbray would prefer Charlie Bhoy well out the way. Poor do all around leaves nothing to spend but still cheaper than paying him off i suppose.
  14. It's no surprise at all it's another year of 'transition' whilst we see how the kids do. It's another year of set in stone jusifiable excuses for a middling finish. Another year of value and experience into the squad. Also another years no pressure wages for everyone, another year of mammoth funding adding to the owners tab and another year of not trying to get out of this league. Easy street.
  15. That's what i mean about pushing the boat out a bit for someone who's going to be worth it. I think they are terrified of that gamble on the back of the striker signings. How can you ever build a promotion side with that sort of approach.
  16. I just think they are a bit too half hearted about it given the shoulder shrugging mentality around the place. Ok you're not really going to compete with the wages of a Prem club but for some of the signings if you really want them you might have to go that extra yard. Funny how he'll tip up 20 grand per week for a 35 year old ex boro boy or let Smallwood sit on his contract draining wages, or the money for Tosins loan. Seems if they need to they'll find it so who is reluctant to get some decent defenders in really ?
  17. Low wages probably which meant our offer was very attractive plus he's coming as number one not back up as the majority of Mowbrays signings start out.
  18. Not like buying a car though at fixed amounts it's more structured to the selling club getting as much as they can as quick as they can these days i'd wager. Big lump up front then another couple of juicy installments followed by dribs and drabs of fancy add ons over the contract. The accounts showed nearly 6 million paid out for new additions the season BB & AA signed. Fair to say there was some hefty deposits there.
  19. The accounts tell a different story as has bits in the paper. A fair lump went down on Brereton and he's been here a few years now so that won't be far off paid up. Also it was Gallagher was 3 million initially going to 5 with add ons so there'll have been a fair bit down up top on that. They often have to do that now in order to nail the deal.
  20. He might have for all we know these things never really come out until after something happens like a bid or an expression to leave. If he was just tied in to an extra year then it would just be a standard 3 or 4 year contract. Surely the 'rolling' on bit has certain triggers to it or at some point all parties have to agree to let it roll i doubt it's all one sided in favour of the club. Unless he's on a right big wage of course.
  21. I thought it worked the other way i.e they want x amount, club say that's a bit too much but we'll give you the option of another year as security instead. Players agent might then say ok but we want a sensible 'trigger amount' to compensate should any bids come in. Once it's agreed and signed then it's enforceable for all parties.
  22. Policy is they won't pay for defenders it has to be sub 1 million so they might be worth 4 times that in years to come. Up front they'll pay more because it can double up quicker. Not many decent defenders around for sub 1 million and less than 15k pwk though although other clubs seem to find them. I'm sure somewhere there is a decent center half whose club might be tempted to sell for 2 or 3 million but he might be 27/28 and TM & Vs are scared of ready made signings. Outside of a short loan that is !
  23. Nothing getting past that lad !
  24. Maybe the wrong one got sent to Wigin !
  25. Pretty certain the manager was hoping the rest he'd had would have revived him. If theirs one thing about TM he gives certain players more chances than we care to mention. If there's another thing we know it's that it also takes a long time for the penny to drop but when it does it drops hard.
