You'll have to go a fair way to find a center half his age who can pass out like he could at this level. However i'd take someone who puts himself first to the ball and the does the basics really well consistently over that any day. Like you say though the bombing full backs will cost us many times this seasons against the better teams unless there are very good quick center defenders covering.

If he was carving his career a league or two below Breretons all round game would probably look a little bit more effective. A complete knee jerk signing where the manager didn't know what he wanted him for and 2 years later the player still doesn't appear to know what he's supposed to be doing. My guess is he might turn into one of those flat track bully types where he'll run riot the odd game against crap opposition, then disappear completely the rest of the time.

I think Mowbray tried to integrate him quite a lot last season but he's never quite clicked. Sometimes we have to look at the player and it's probably time to try something different than this lad.

The 'product' has gone way backwards since 2006/7 and the bullshit has trebled so not sure why it's being compared to then really. Rather irrelevant in the grand scheme of things the point is it's another hefty price rise in the space of a couple of years. Yes they might have been a bit cheaper in some areas of the ground than some other clubs but there was a reason for that it wasn't generosity. It's been clear since he set foot in the place Swaggot has looked around and thought right i need to get these prices up and around what some other clubs are charging as soon as possible regardless. He's paid several hundred grand plus benefits to drive up income and cut costs that's what he's here for, his wages and his resume for his next gig. Won't give a toss how he does it i doubt he'd give a stuff if we entered next season with 5k fans paying around double what it is now and all sat in one stand. Squeeze as much as you can out of what you have, it's not emotive to him just business.

They aren't bothered at all like you say just figures on spreadsheets to the likes of him. The numbers go down the prices go up to compensate so it balances out and his wages are protected.
