  1. I think he'd do well for Blackpool if played regularly, a lazy arse at times but most young modern strikers tend to be for some reason but he's an out and out goal poacher rather than grafter or target man. He'll poach a few.
  2. Remember him from early years starting going on Ewood as a youngster he stood out with his hair and sheer put it about effort when he came on. Always liked him then he just seemed to disappear no idea why but surely he was handy to keep around ? Came across him on twitter a few times he was clearly still taking a big interest in Rovers, lesser grafters than him retire from the game loaded these days they really don't know how lucky they have it. RIP
  3. 3 million down plus add on's Not a bad deal for a young English striker.
  4. If Dack is still expecting to be a shoe in starter he needs to up his ideas with the options developing because so far he doesn't really look up for the fight.
  5. He really wants to come then....?
  6. Ideal scenario really for a club in our position right now although probably disagree about the flaws bit with TM if it does happen i think it's more down to him suggesting it.
  7. Long held suspicion since he was dropped for a spell last season that he'll be forced into a move eventually i think they smell a few more million in transfer funds here. January will be interesting where he's concerned.
  8. Most windows we seem to get a questionable oldie/busted or dodgy looking signing - This season so far it's Downing " " " " a middle of the road punt where in theory it looks right but in practise it's a 50/50 whether it works -- Johnson " " " " an investment that costs money is young and British but raises questions as to why we can invest in that but not where it's really needed in team " " " " a youngster or two from a big club to bluff out the squad but probably not cost much " " " " a complete meh squaddie or 2 often with an injury or injury record " " " " An eye brow raising WTF So all in all on track for a standard window so far just a few more boxes to tick but why it's often a similar pattern who knows.... Like someone above said this window and the last has called out just for a few quality additions in the right areas not just bodies or scattergun grab a player whilst we can. Mowbray himself spent from last Jan to the start of this window spouting the same.
  9. Hand on dick, brain in neutral.
  10. Everything that's happened at Wolves seems to be what was supposed to happen here but it'll be really interesting to see how it unfolds
  11. Well we certainly should be seeing something resembling a v Charlton starting 11 so pray for no knocks or anything. Pool 2 Rovers 3
  12. Well like i said his agency has 5 of our young players on its books including Hart and Mick Rathbone works for them so maybe favours get done both ways. Not suggesting anything dark at all we know football works this way and to be honest i seriously question whether after the gaffers contacts our scouting goes much further than what certain agents can dig up or move on for us still. Modern football.
  13. At 21 it's not a bad idea keeping Wharton around even if they keep loaning him out lower down they probably feel they'l get their money back from flogging him to a lower league club at some point if he doesn't improve. His agency seem well in at Ewood with no less than 5 of our youngsters on their books, must be cheap or something.
  14. Nature of the championship is very topsy turvy so high scoring games and surprise tankings are never unusual and it'll happen again. What we need to cut of if we want to be successful is the volume of ball watching, dozing and individual errors. Not easy at this level giving what there is to select from so the only real way is buy and pay better quality.
  15. The amount of time half the players were out on the piss told it's own story plus other tales, it was a holiday camp mentality and i think he went along with it because he knew he was only ever going to be a stand in whatever he did. I don't believe he had much say over anything but that's another debate, inexperience the major factor though.
  16. Quite simply it's these kinds of things that separate the good managers from the average run of the mill average joes. They all have their favs, weaknesses etc and most to a certain degree have to contend with some sort of hidden remit or interference in the background. In GB's case his one legitimate defence was inexperience and a huge dose of loyalty to the academy prodigy that they thought they could turn into a multi million pound player who's now turning out for one of the worst sides in the area and probably not being paid. In TMs case i think it's sheer stubbornness because he's so many lads he doesn't want to upset.
  17. Mowbray clearly states promotion is the aim Posters get excited Mowbray spends on attacking talent to add to the good ones already here Posters get excited Mowbray fails to address what he clearly stated was the weak point in HIS team despite being able to spend millions Fans get concerned Fans get told by other fans their expectations are way too high mid table is acceptable IT doesn't add up lads.
  18. I think the non buying defenders theory is purely down to the manager and what he tells the owners and for those who are thinking he's keeping pressure off himself he wouldn't be if he spent millions on some defenders and we started leaking goals again badly, finger would point directly at him then. I think we all know that if Boro were offloading a 30 odd year old defender who's legs had gone TM would be there with a short term contract for him but for now i reckon he's telling his bosses we are better going with the younger ones to develop and sell and the well paid old head in Mulgrew. The keeper situation will have been both a headache and a well timed scapegoat. It's down to the manager.
  19. We've heard previously that they question why people they pay big wages to and big money for aren't playing so no surprise if this is true. It will also mean the old favs are usually regular starters whilst they are here and also the Rhodes always starts when fit theory from the recent past.
  20. 15 million quids worth of strikers loaded onto the books in 12 months quite understandably adds to the weight of expectation although that might be wiped out with the sale of Dack so Pune will be happy.
  21. I'd go with this it fits they way things unfold. I've also long thought they get the operating budget to cover costs/losses signed off and are allowed to use or create a little headroom in that and do what they want. i.e the likes of Downing. Above and beyond that for actual transfer fees they probably have to present their case to them individually as and when rather than drawing off an agreed set amount, wait an age to get the final answer, again probably having been told it'll be a yes hence lining players up only to be told no, hence missing out and looking a bit foolish. Then of course probably get told at the last min somebodies coughed up some wonga but wants it investing in a certain player or type of player he can double his money on ! A lot of 'probablys' but this is Venky Rovers.
  22. I'd like to think that's the idea with Johnson and maybe Downing able to pick out good passes from the middle something we haven't had in years. Travis obviously adds some dynamic to it being able to operate further up the pitch but i still think he'll favour the defensive approach first as part of that is too protect the paceless centre defence.
  23. Mostly sit deep at home and invite the other side on looking to hit long balls to DG or counter but most teams look to do similar so less pressure to deal with. Similar approach away means inviting constant pressure from bold teams and getting caught forwards countering usually looking to get back into a game. This is why i've always felt a core style with 2 defensive mids is counter productive and even if it works in the middle it's pretty pointless forcing them wide when you can't stop or defend crosses well.
  24. Nobody created anything people are discussing what the manager said i don't know why that's so hard to deal with i could understand if people were making it up. Might as well put a blanket ban on manager interviews, it would be worse if no one was interested in what was said. Anyway, roll on the season...
  25. Has he sold his goalie though..... ?
