Nuttall is physically further down the line than BB and probably just a completely different type of player than Brereton. He suits the target man role better at present and he carries a goal poaching threat whereas Brereton looks as if he might develop into one who can make himself a goal. Trouble with Nuttall he's also the type who needs to work his arse off every game to be effective and that's something that doesn't look like its dawned yet but then again he did have a brief bright spell then got potted again immediately. He should've been natural first choice all season to go up top late on when DG went off but Mowbray seemed to prefer to shove Dack there and put BB wide. I don't think that's helped any one of those but imo Nuttall will be shunted out of the squad to make way for Samuel when he's fit and he probably knows it. Don't think his face fits with TM but he wasn't really his signing.

Nowhere...unless he comes back on loan ! There had to be a reason for shelling out on those two although in all seriousness I doubt it'd ever be 442 even if they fit it. Probably one either side and big Dom up front. Frightening ...

442 first game next season... Brero and Arma ...its the future we've tasted it ?

Whilst we often say promotion was expected last season I can't imagine it would've been delivered without Graham and Mulgrews contribution and even Evans second half of the season. The senior pro's he kept proved a cut above so I can imagine him being a big part in recommending they were kept and probably promising them their wages would go straight back up and he'd get them another year on top as a sweetner.

Another man of forked tongue with influential Pune ear breathers methinks, that's worked before in getting players in-- that usually turned out to be bobbins.

Can't really say I've seen any hate for Brereton at all on twitter, the odd comparisons with Kevin Davies at Rovers has been about as strong as its got. The majority have just quite understandably been questioning the wisdom of the deal and its cost weighed against what the team needs in other areas. But we are firmly in an era where mock outrage rules and social media is a tool for some to try and seek out offence in something that isn't really there. Oh for the days people could just feel free to say their bit in the heat of the moment then forget about it and move on without the annoyance of some weirdo looking for their electric footprint to start an argument ?

Interesting he finally accepts this I was thinking about recently and at the beginning of the season especially away there did seem to be a shift to a quick counter attacking style with the ball on the deck more and it caught a lot of teams out. Don't think TM was comfortable with the fast starts and racing into leads only to keep getting pegged back and nearly throw it away again so quite simply he reverted to type until the inclusion of Travis shook things up again, Then of course he reverted to type again but take away the option of two defensive mids being his preferred choice and we'll then and only then really move away from that style permanently in my opinion. Sit back pass it around the back, try and draw the oppo out a bit and hoof it over the top for the knockdowns - rinse and repeat. If he continues with that he needs another good target man and to mix Dack up with Rothwell or another to keep it fresh one of the most bonkers things this season which has gone under the radar a bit now was him keep moving Dack into DGs position when he went off. How many times did that back fire this season ? Quite a few i'd say.

You might have a point as both only take the shackles off now and again in season and I also think both preach caution to their teams in the prep worrying more about modest opposition strengths rather than focusing on our strengths and their weaknesses. They probably cover all aspects to be fair but GB was over compensating for his lack of experience and Mowbray definitely over complicates things at times. That's unless they say completely different things on the training pitch and in the dressing room and give off a different vibe to what they say in public pre/post most games.

The Ryan Nyambe Appreciation Thread

Good news. Looked to me at one point like Mowbray was trying to force him out but he must've seen sense, now please no more Bennett at RB unless necessary. -
More bile on there and full time lurkers looking for fan v fan than there's ever been on here plus the blatant spin machines who are paid for their time but don't last 5 mins on other forums.

When you think Hanley & Duffy went for around 4 million each it seems good championship defenders don't always command big bucks. All the more bizarre we never actually sign any when they are that affordable ! Given that was a few years ago you'd probably be looking at 5/6 mill for DL from another ambitious or parachute funded Champ club. That kind of dough here would disappear in an instant because the initial down payment and following instalments wouldn't be very big and imo that is what gets committed to reinvestment rather than the whole package of any incoming transfer funds, minus the percentages etc of course. That doesn't leave anywhere near enough to slap down on a good enough replacement so keep him at all costs there is a very good player developing there.

That's why he should be given the armband, a good regular partner and the promise of a contract review by January
-
We know what TM is like with blind loyalty so if he feels Williams is the man he'll be no 1 partner to Darragh or more likely no 3 behind his favoured 1&2 DL and Charlie buoy. I'm not comfortable with that despite Williams new found status I think we need a starter capable dyed in the wool centre half otherwise again you are looking at 3 guys there who've all been converted to CH when we hit a bad patch and the anger starts and their back up will probably another converted player.

Slunk off apologetically was the description I think, probably expecting some stick so not surprising.

Getting a bit fed up of comparisons to PNE if i'm being honest, go speak to some of their diehards and they are still envious of the set up and budget we have at Rovers. They still think we buy our way out of trouble, 7 mill on BB, funding a Cat 1 Academy and our overall wage bill fuel that view and compared to them you can understand it so I think it's about time they got left out of the debates. We've only been below the Championship one season in about 7 years and I don't think they can say the same so over all who is the more Championship set up standard club ? We should be as good as if not better than them in the bigger picture, i'll be expecting we should be next season.
-
On the pitch every time I've seen Bolton this season they've grafted hard that's why I felt a bit sorry for them, the team at least. Very workmanlike but nothing whatsoever upfront the most toothless team you'll see. Must be soul destroying playing in and watching that every week knowing no matter how well you play or hard you work you're still going to lose. Not taking anything away from Rovers but I think they could've turned in the worst display of the season yesterday and still won but good to see the two young strikers settling matters. So nice to have a pressureless routine victory its been a while since things have been so relaxed.

A good championship experienced defender with something left in his legs will do me !
-
I know we are crying out for a good centre defender but I hope that's not where he's looking for one ?

I was a massive Souness fan, still am but he did lose the plot and i'd have sacked him earlier so whichever agent manufactured that Newcastle move and 4 mill compen was a genius even though it probably wasn't done for the benefit of BRFC. Just goes to show though no matter how good the manager and no matter the success and how much the fans like them there tends to be a shelf life. But when a manager is winning games again his shelf life clearly isn't up whoever he is. I feel this season with TM the turn around recently has a lot to do with horses for courses finally and putting the right people in the right places to do the right jobs. Its meant dropping Mulgrew and breaking up his favoured midfield combo but so be it I pray he's learnt from it and sticks to that ethos from the off next season.
-
Hopefully he fills out and develops a bit of mon strength over the summer, might be a big money deal but he looks what he is a very young raw player. I've a feeling after a full pre season here if he gets used correctly he might come in handy next season. Still need another good biggish striker in the squad though imo.
-
Similar stuff trotted out in Bowyers time I think he said he needed 6 windows to bring in players good enough to challenge but also get rid of loads of unwanted overpaid and largely useless players. A fair enough assumption at the time but we know what happened part way through that.

There'll always be the problem on the sheer distance and time differences that has caused massive problems in the past and that'll not change. They've had nearly ten years now to come up with a viable process that negates that, other clubs manage it. I think trust issues have also played a part but now they have a guy they supposedly trust and who has delivered the only modicum of success under their tenure in righting immediately the wrongs of relegation to league 1 and has invested the one significant one off sum they allowed ( Brereton aside) in a player who's been a success and will probably move on for ten times what was paid. With the modern technology available now that actually allows live meetings wherever you are in the world there shouldn't be a need to go over there be it voluntarily or summoned. It's hard to know who's calling the shots on this as I thought we were under the impression if Tony asks Tony will get, he's continually told us there's been funds but he hasn't spent them so why does he need to go all the way over there to ask again for something that is supposed to be sat thee waiting to be spent ? Is the crafty goat after yet another contract extension ? Let's not forget we also have an official middleman who's supposed to do these things, what's he up to ?

The whole idea of having a proper CEO was to plug gaps like this he should be able to lay out the managers plans and vision that's his job to oversee it he runs the club for them in Blackburn. He could be in India in the next couple of weeks whilst the manager continues working with the team. It's the exact set up other managers have asked for in the recent past.
-
Exactly but that's what we are up against. We have a CEO now so he should be securing next seasons budget as soon as possible then the manager can start to work on his main targets asap. It explains the scattergun approach we usually have to just get bodies in for the sake of it late in summer or miss out altogether. Not difficult to see why we probably didn't move for anyone in Jan when it has to be first agreed face to face in India if it's a significant amount of money. No time for that mid season but then again it now should be Stevie's job.
-
I think the Indian trips are all about getting a face to face audience with Madame and hubby as surely Balaji and the other one are easy enough to come across with the former frequent London jaunts and the latters Zurich visits. Tony needs to leave Charlie Cheston & Steve Surcharge at home and take his kids, Mrs and and a king sized lemon drizzle along with a grand plan of buying Bradley Dacks and not Ben Breretons and he might just come back with a transfer pot in return. Then when he's coming through customs they should stamp 'defenders' on his forehead so he doesn't forget get again !
