The other teams are treating their games tonight as must win so we need to follow their lead. -

Or a very small piece of the 30 plus million they'll have guaranteed as income inside a year by the time they sell Sammie. If you aren't going to sign good players and still sell all the best ones you have you aren't going to pull in a good crowd it's basic football logic for any club. Constantly weakening yourselves and running a low cost high risk model does not appeal to a fanbase. So you have to find a way to compensate for that in order to draw in as much support as possible. Otherwise you reap what you sow. -

Cheaper options will be very welcome to some for sure but in terms of the overall picture it won't make a difference especially on the back on this last seasons mess both here and in India. Just knock 50 quid off all current holders and 30 off new/lapsed buyers. That should ensure another 9k maybe even grow it a bit to 10k which should be the target, one good cup game or loose change from Wharton/Raya covers it. A good gesture that won't break the bank. -

If you can find one anywhere on Ebay or similar Rovers did a promotion celebrating brochure which told the story of the season before that. I got one from somewhere and it's one of my prized possessions even though i didn't experience that season it's quite a story and remember there was no money around anywhere back then so they did it all with next to nothing running off their own income. Came so close. -

Rovers were on for a back to back promotion back to the top league but missed out on goal difference due to a 0-0 at Bristol on the final day. If Preston had beaten Swansea at home it would have been enough to see Rovers over the line but they bent over and got rogered. 5000 Rovers fans headed down to Bristol and clashed at various Mway services with Swansea fans heading to Preston. 'It was on that famous Saturday the second day of May we met a bunch of Swansea fans on the motorway, we said we'll win promotion, we said we're going up, but on the famous Saturday Preston fucked it up, na nan na' -

There is a Rovers terrace song relating to events in about 1980 that sums up the feelings towards PNE on these matters. For once though they do have something to play for. -
That's the first time its been in Rovers accounts as far as i'm aware and considering how bad they usually are it's a red flag. Simply put these owners despite their obvious spare wealth have played Russian roulette with the club because that wealth allows it. The attitude of i't's ok if we make mistakes, allow nonsense by our mates or just ignore it' because we can afford it has finally caught up with them. The ONLY reason we haven't ended up in Admin under this lot is that when there hasn't been money forthcoming for whatever reason there have been good players to sell. The accounts need signing off every year though with parental company guarantee and now that can't be given and if it isn't restored in the next set of accounts there is a big problem.

Pay as you go sounds good but also suicide business sense unless it is offered to newbies only. Half the existing ST base would probably plump for that then not turn up if we are shite or on telly or it's howling it down on a Tues night in Oct. The only real and proven way as plenty other clubs have shown is to make a whopping early bird discount over a decent period, a decent signing and not selling your best player would also help. Yes it might mean a hit but you've got to take that and forwarding thinking it could have been subsidised. In the grand scheme of things it's not a massive amount of money when you consider a decent cup run brought in an unexpected extra 1 mill or so. Terrible signings also like Fleck need ironing out that money would've subsidised a few thousand young adult tickets. As i think we can see though the incentive of those in office at Ewood is to protect their wage and hit certain targets which if exceeded my trigger a nice bonus. -

Cheston was the club accountant who for a spell ended up running the show, just like Anderson, cousin Vinny, Shebby, Agnew and the berk in the shadows now. The common factor being ? -

That horse has bolted they've missed the chances yet again presented to them by a couple of seasons over achieving. After this season and the nonsense off the pitch again next season is a hard sell even with 20 quid knocked off early bird. People have seen through the bullshit and know the only intention at this club by those running it here and owning it over there is to tread water year by year. No other ambition apart from the filling squad with youth to keep costs lower so it would take one hell of a radical price cut to boost numbers. Otherwise aside from hanging on to as many of the hardcore as possible minimal discounts and gimmicks won't have mass appeal. -
Already had one pile in straight away on twitter telling me all clubs who spend more than they earn simply have to sell players to make up the deficit, a trading model it was described as. To which i then had to explain the startling difference between a trading club and a sell to survive one, not least the irony being the whole idea of having wealthy owners is to employ capable administrators to plug that gap and keep the team competitive whilst navigating FFP. No Rovers fan should ever need the threat explaining to them about being just a selling to keep the lights on club the example of the nose dive to league 1 last time is still fresh in the memory of most.

There is no one in our squad that those kind of add ons should have been agreed to. Hope it is Telalovic and Leo because as you say safe as houses it won't be paid BUT whoever is agreeing it needs seriously calling into question. Maybe that's why Telalovic hardly gets a sniff if it's appearance related.

He probably doesn't care anymore and why would he. -
Yes at least 15k but any half decent half ready made replacement is going to want at least 10. Broughton will be fishing in the 3k to 6k pwk dept.
-
Should be relatively straightforward to find a willing player who'll put the graft in for the team and carry some kind of goal and assist threat. Sadly they want wages of 10k pwk plus so it's a non starter he'll already be looking for the next Telalovic/Ennis but hoping this time one finally clicks.

Rovers Rumours & Speculation

If they know they are going to be able to send a lump of money mid season then there might be a little wiggle room in summer but without a cast iron guarantee it's unlikely anything more than the usual 500k for a lad from Crewe will be available. -

Waggot is just doing as he's always done and that is covering for the owners and protecting his own position. All he's bothered about is getting to the end of the season then hitting his ST income target to ensure another year of wages. Year to year winger who has NEVER had a long term plan other than the cost cutting downgrading one because that's all he knows. It needs pinning on here that this is the second time in 6 months hes said the issues in India should be resolved. Also Broughton, he said publicly he'd been assured there''d be Wharton money to spend but he also said last season he'd have the same budget. Might as well scroll their words on bog paper the pair of them because that's where it'll end up. -
No idea what order but I'm thinking a win, 2 draws and 2 losses is on the horizon so pray that's enough though wouldn't be surprised if we drew 3 and lost 2 ... There are always twists and turns but get that next win asap and we can relax a little bit i hope.

Just silly when there's an away end holding 2k that will be three quarters empty and even if only 25 bought on the night that's £700 plus. Surely there is a window there that could handle that and more than cover its cost of opening for 1 hour.
