That's why he's here and that is where his experience and expertise lies if we look at his previous clubs. Both going backwards at a rate of knots and downscaling as they went along, not his fault of course but he was hired for a certain task and wasn't building them up or promotion. So what does he know about building a club up ? Nowt, it's all about watertreading and penny pinching in his 'How To' guide.

That would be 2 years running costs and nil reinvestment apart from his wage to loan in a 19 year old with no championship experience from somewhere. -

'Starts' at ten million i.e just to get a foot in the door before we talk about the rest. -

There is no debate to be had about Wharton with anyone unless it's starting at ten million. -

What i'm saying on that one is it wouldn't surprise me that seeing as he arrived from a club like Spurs, to much fanfare about potential and we paid at least 500k he's probably on 4 or 5 grand a week. Whereas the lads he's competing with like our own trainees and those on their first pro contracts will be on a lot less. Things like that is why wages tend to be closely guarded until something seeps out. Of course could be way of the mark but this is the club under Mowbray, Venus and Waggot that paid Leeds 11k a week to borrow a kid like Poveda. Then didn't cover themselves for the possibility of injury so we paid him whilst he was back at his parent club getting fit to go elsewhere. This is what we are dealing with at BRFC with those who run the club so on the wages front literally anything is possible to be honest ! -

Trouble is at some clubs it would cause issues amongst the players and headaches for the chairmen. I mean who would be remotely surprised if someone like Markanday was on a lot more than some of our other young players because he came from Spuds with a fee. -

Yes he'll be on around that now so i'm sure he's more than happy for now because that's a massive uplift inside a few years. -

I'd say going from 3 grand a week to 6 could just as easily be classed as life changing money. -

Some of us base our opinions on the information and facts we know about and apply some logical thinking. Doesn't me we are right but it's likely to be closer to reality than pure guesswork ignoring facts. -

Did we actually pay that much ? I'm not sure we did at all although the overall deal might reach that much. Yes he will now be one of our higher earners but no way is he on basic pay of 15k pwk after coming here on half that, They are driving the wage bill down that's the whole idea of moving some of the players on. 15k pwk guys are being replaced by 10k pwk players and and 10pwk journeymen are being replaced by mostly youth on sub 5 grand. -

JDT said himself he was one of the more expensive boys and one by one they are getting rid of the double figure wage earners there is no doubt in my mind easing Travis out is now mostly down to his wages. If the gaffer was going to use him they'd have kept him a bit longer but he'd have been shifted anyway by summer imo. -

I think Rovers do a lot of bonus heavy related contracts which isn't a bad thing and iv'e no doubt he earned 15 grand last week. -

He's practically part time though isn't he ? I mean how many times is he up here aside from game day ? And it seems he now only covers half the goings on with GB now in charge of the football operation so i'm sure his role is less hands on that some higher paid guys. I think we've seen evidence of that aplenty recently when he doesn't seem to know whats going on because it's all let to various other dept heads. Very smart way to do things when you want to avoid accountability for anything. -

Come on don't be so silly Szmodics was probably on 5k at best maybe 6 when he came here he'd hardly have been on huge wedge at Posh. I'd say he'd be delighted with 10k pwk plus bonuses now here and who was bidding for him to drive his wage demands up anyway ? Some people really need to get their heads out of dreamland with this wages lark this is Blackburn Rovers 2024 we are not paying everything double figure weekly wages, not for one second. Especially not foreign imports that Siigy would be nowhere near here if he wantted 15 grand a week ffs. -

He was signed by Coventry in 2017 when they were skint and he came from being loaned out to 3 or 4 clubs so no way was he on big wages there. We picked him up for a modest fee when they again needed money and we just aren't signing players on big wages anymore. I've seen it mentioned he's on about 9k pwk here now and i'd say that sounds about right there is no way he's on Ayala style money. He didn't come free, wasn't on 30k before at a big paying club and didn't have much pedigree for higher level football. -

Just shows how full of shite he really is as when things were going bad at Coventry he was doing the same sob story of being so far away from home. Some Sunland fans were commenting how weary and fed up he looked this season during their non winning run, he'll not see out 2.5 years at Brum i'll wager anyone on that. He'll start well then it'll all tail off again in 12 months time and they'll be moaning about him. Could however get interesting if he does get a big budget. -

No surprise there and he'll be plying his trade at this level for a few years yet before they sell him to Fulham or a parachute loaded champ club. -

I very much doubt that as they both came in on lower wages so no way have they been trebled here. I'd say a more modest amount of c10k as will Siggy. That's 3 of them for the wages of 2 of the previous high earners that's how it works here now i think. -

Hmm but Mowbray and Venus were experienced manager and assistant who also apparently doubled as some sort of DoF so i reckon there were costing a reasonable amount. Replaced by a head coach, 2 assistant coaches and a DoF but all from abroad and novices in terms of Championship experience so i don't think it would be massively more costly. They wouldn't have done it otherwise. -

Dack was c18k, Ayala similar as you say a free from Boro were he was on c30k Hyam and Sammie will be on half that tops and a lot of the kids will be on a few grand per week as opposed to TMs squad of a few years ago on average championship journetman wages of 10k pwk. There is no way that the football wage bill hasn't been considerably reduced in the last 3 seasons unless the coaching staff are on huge wonga. -

They are unlikely to be replacing the wages of Dack, BBD, Ayala, Kaminsky ete and not that long ago most of TMs first team squad were on double figures. The squad is now chock full of promoted youth, loans and cheaper wages they've been driving it down for a few years now. No way is Szmod on Dacks wage or HYam on Ayalas etc. Costs will have increased for basic things like they have for everyone but the actual first team squad wage bill should be significantly less than it was 2 yrs ago never ind 3. Maybe that freed up room for the pitch job and bus lease and so on but the actual overal losses at Ewood are still eye wateringly high compared to some other similar sized clubs. Are they still paying off dollopers from yesteryear or are there other people on the club wage bill we don't know about ? Next accounts should be interesting. -
He'll have known damn well about it he'll have ok'd it or maybe even arranged it. Part of his skillset he told everybody about several years ago was opening up stadiums for use 7 days a week to maximise income. Making the most of everything they had to offer so he's done a deal with the fast food mob to let hire out areas for whatever they want. Again it's at his door this and he won't give a flying one, half his staff probably have free tickets.

Yes on about him and although i'm concerned about the finance side of it i became more worried when i read the bits saying he's proven good at attacking but less so a defending. In a lower league than us but apparently it's ok because he's termed a modern defender ! Bloody hell i remember a young Colin Hendry being termed a modern defender because he was great at throwing himself face or genitals first at everything at both ends of the pitch. Why have those real defenders just disappeared over the last decade i wonder. -

So another defender from a lower league with no championship experience whose attacking stats are probably better than his defensive ones. Exactly the opposite of what we do need in the team right now.
