That *was* the January Window

I think working with an experienced keeper day in day out for 6 months would help both a hell of a lot but especially Leo. Nothing against Benson but he's a coaching manual coach he can offer nothing in terms of psychology and dealing with nerves and situations in games etc. Pears at least has his dad for advice. -

The eyes never lie. -
But they had to retract the digi ticket only 24 hrs before the game in order to reach 6k home fans by allowing regular physical ticket buyers to just roll up as normal. Like the previous idiocy with the BBE they probably lost a thousand punters so over the two games thousands of pounds have been lost in an attempt to save a few hundred. And yes it was an attempt at experimenting for future digital tickets only for every game which men in suits will be all over if they think they can do it all that way and then leave it to an AI system and get rid of wage earners. So just like everything else unless people stand up to it and say no and give them no choice but to not remove choices there'll be jobs lost and all customer service will be through chatbots. Of course it'll all be hidden neatly behind saving the planet whilst the systems to run these things will cost an arm and leg to install and that will have to be paid for somehow. And it won't all run on fresh air either.

Hence why we've never had a real board of directors to run BRFC the way a football club should be run. If we did it would have been a constant battle between board and owners as to what is best for the club not their whims and friends of the family self interested advice. Until we have an actual Blackburn based board of directors the same stuff will happen over and over whilst we stay in limbo to their finance. -

Yes and they used the money they had left in the pot the Jan pre covid which they didn't invest in players to extend by a couple of months several of those players into the covid era. Some of them had played no part anyway but they gave them extra wages anyway. We are talking the likes of Gladwin and then Smallwood who Mowbray, Venus and Waggot (North East cartel with a player on that cetain agent from the same areas books) to just sit on his nice contract and do nothing until it ran out and he went to his pre arranged deal at Hull. A full season where he also declined to turn out for the U23's. All that is in the public domain, they were taking the piss looking after their pals with the clubs money that should have been used to strengthen the team. Stinks and all on Waggots watch, then the money wasted on another ex Boro lad in Downing. -

We do know though that several of the players signed with the AA money were long term targets there was never any secret in that. They only actually dropped a bit later but we had long time registered serious interest that's why we got in front of any queue. The timeline tells us they weren't Broughton sourced signings because they happened as he walked through the door. No doubt he was involved and got them over the line so he'll have played his part after being tasked to go and get them done. No doubt Waggot covers his own arse as well but non of it should excuse GB for bringing in shite because he's no other option or he oversaw a couple of good signings. Although i'm sure he probably identified a few other decent ones but was kyboshed by the string pullers. His name is now over the football dept though so he'll be judged largely responsible for it from here on in and rightly so. Time will tell whether moving some out and replacing with 19/20 year old loans etc is a masterstroke or the final nails in the coffin. -

No he did neither he just explained that Szmodics wasn't one GB wanted and that Hyam and Brittain had already been put on the wanted list and enquired about by the previous regime. Which was mentioned anyway at the time both were signed and we only got them once Barnsley went down and Coventry suddenly came back to Rovers offering him at less than they'd previously valued him at. Long term targets they were. -
Mowbray himself talked about all sorts of models during his time here we even had the Barnsley model being quoted, look where they ended up. That is the most likely for us i'd say. He tried the Swansea model on the pitch which say his strongest squad/wage bill finish in our lowest position. They talked Brentford and all sorts of other crap but did nothing but just plod on doing the same old thing until the ownership decided on sweeping changes. Now what appeared to be a step in the fight direction is clearly turning into overkill and taking us on a one way ticket to league 1 again. These ideas should have been put into place properly years ago but the chances were all spurned and we now seemingly have zero other choice. Alongside the ownership those who should be held to account are Waggot and Shadowman who are paid hundreds of thousands to run the show for Venkys. And who hold joint responsibility for dragging us downwards again after a brief flirt with going the right way. Utterly useless to a man.

The thing is though he is quick enough to take credit when we do do something if you listen to interviews. Yes of course he credits the owners as well but there is plenty of we and I so it all works both ways. Had we got a couple of those players signed up on improved terms before the rot in their minds had chance to set in then sold them later i'm sure he'd have been crowing about what good worked they'd all done. Which would have been fair enough but to be absolved of any accountability because everyone assumes it's always the owners fault doesn't really wash if we are being truthful. We know the issues with them but they do actually pay some people very handsomely to do certain jobs. -

He runs the club here in his title of CHIEF EXECUTIVE and you are doing the assuming that these decisions are being made or not made 3000 miles away. In his role as CHIEF EXECUTIVE of Blackburn Rovers football club it is his job to ensure these things don't happen whether that is by insisting the owners sanction contract talks well in advance of deals beginning to run out or even if he has to do it off his own bat. As CEO he has the legal right to do such things because that is his job unless it's contractually specified that it isn't. The buck stops with him and after so much financial damage has been inflicted by letting so many walk for nothing, one who cost 6 million, then if he was prevented from doing anything about it he should have tendered his notice. Don't forget we also had a manager and his assistant basically publically advising these lads to walk several months before most did. Where was the CEO then ? As far as the info we have it all came about because he low balled some of them then used covid as the reason to them totally stop contract talks. Then he said the initial offers remained on the table and it was seemingly a case of sign them or don't but that's it. Only towards the end did they then panic and start claiming they were pushing the offers to the hilt in some cases. Clowns. -

Buy high and let go for nothing isn't the model Brentford started with yet we can see an example of our stupidity just landed in the Prem at Sheff U. Imagine if he does well and Villarreal get a fee for him ! Waggot and/or the shadow idiot should have been sacked for that alone never mind the others who walked for nothing. That is half the reason we are where we are now. How can you pay people to boost income and grow players to sell when they end up doing the exact opposite !!! Brentford model my arse it will always be the Venky Model here AKA the penny wise pound foolish dud model that is designed to lose them money. That's why they are being investigated. -

Yes as time moves on i think that is evident and as mentioned to be fair to him his zero budget means that's all we can go after anyway. However to do what these lot are now trying to do i.e have a competitive Championship team propped up by cheap but experienced capable players whilst filling gaps with good potential it needs a really really shrewd performer. As does the technical area as well. -

Except their model had a completely different starting point and they didn't need 20 million a year just to sustain the Championship model they were already trying to run. Total different dynamics to us i'm afraid that's why it will never work here unless we A. Go down first - i'm sure that's a consideration in Pune towers judging by what's going on. B. Go bust first, get rid and start again. -

And when we sell it's to pay bills because of the awful ownership that despite chucking money in for losses continues to stifle the club from going anywhere. If we sell a player for 10 million we'll be very lucky to ten percent of that reinvested and the immediate replacement would be a kid on loan. -

Someone somewhere has been trying to get Joe Gelhardt into Ewood for several years now. Third party advice..... Usually when no one else wants him, is he any better than Leonard and Vale ? -

Correct they are two who might as well stay we aren't replacing them with anything better if we aren't bringing experience in. They are ou players so wtf is the point n replacing them with someone elses inexperienced and struggling for fitness kids. Markandy should be down the road somewhere and so should Leo with someone with more experience stepping into his berth for now. -

I think we are literally begging players now for little contribution in return for giving them mins. As i feared it would end like this once we switched the focus to youth we are going to end up with way too many being used for first team places. -

Judging by what we've seen so far and his previous experience it looks like Broughton should just be tasked with bringing in players for the U21s and academy. -

He needs the boot before he loads us with anymore unmovable rubbish then as i thought his saving grace was signings like Sammie. We already know the club had Brittain and Hyam already on their lists so it's hard to credit him with those. -

Leo looks like a schoolboy in the headlights and his confidence is shaken to the bone but to me he's looked like that since he arrived. He's a complete novice in this league i don't care how many games he's had in a pub league of the one International cap he's nowhere near it at this level yet. In an ideal world he needs a loan a league or two down so he is dealing with the high balls, crosses and rough stuff game in game out. Just no presence to the lad whatsoever and opponents smell that fear a mile away. -

Jon mate we desperately relied on one player to pull us out the mire. So yes got the job done comfortably in the end against lower opposition but the weaknesses remain for all to see, just way too easy to score against us for anybody. -
Yeah it's relatively normal support for a small club but if it was us of course we'd be getting pelters. Have to say by Burnleys self styled overblown away fan reputation i think it's pretty poor to be honest. Like us though a while back these act as stark reminders that the jonny come lately's onto a Prem bandwagon are just that.
