That *was* the January Window
tomphil replied to Herbie6590's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Brittain, Carter, Hyam, Pickering, Hill, Travis, Tronsdat ... That backline and defensive mids etc is more than capable enough to defend but we are more preoccupied in most cases with trying to make them look like Brazilian footballers. The right system we'd concede less but of course we'd create less because if we don't look to play through teams from back to front there isn't much at the other end to create it's own stuff. If there was, as has been needed for years, some sort of target man in the squad and we could offer some threat from set pieces we'd be capable of pinching a few results. -

That's exactly how they look at it imo. Squad half full of academy grads, one of them probably worth 5 mill say and another worth 4m, a few you could sell now for a million if you needed. All book value and 'profit' potential seeing as no fees were paid so nothing is owing. Bankers look at that and say yes we are satisfied to keep your overdraft at 10 million due to 'book value'. -

It could easily be done, 5 mill rising to 8 with add ons, that's how they'd do it i assume. Sounds good but there's no guarantee you'd ever see enough triggers to get the full fee however 5 or 6 mill guaranteed would be attractive to a skint club. -

Well yes the better the team and it's progress the better chance of the good players being worth more. If you're looking to make young and average players attractive to other middling sides in your division though, well...... -

Well the last bit isn't happening it's going the opposite way and will probably still keep doing so unless the gaffer changes tack or we somehow get several half decent bods in. -

I could absolutely see them selling Szmods for something around 5 mill plus add ons and Trav for a million plus add ons. Then Wharton in summer and the whole package of those deals could be 15/20 million. Running costs for next year ! -

Birmingham were a big ambitious club then not the shell of the one they've now been for years. Exactly the kind of club that we if run correctly should be bettering in the present day, same for West Brom perennial under achievers. -

It will be another new low if we start selling our best players to West Brom or Brum. -

We watch with our eyes not our sentimental leanings that kind of attitude got us 2 years more of Mowbray than we needed. The table doesn't lie, results don't lie and neither do performances and yes there were issues for all to see in the winning run. We got away with a bit from having more players available obviously and a few on form. To be honest we probably just over achieved for a spell like a lot of teams do in this league and i think what we've seen recently was always going to happen. Both good and bad teams now have our number i'm afraid. If you cannot play the way you want too because of absentees then you have to change it up even if it's more negative sometimes. There has been no sign of that we continue in te same vein whatever the team selection and we continue to make it so easy for teams to run us over, without in a lot of cases them having to even play well. Imo we've been poorer as a whole unit most of this season than we were last. Obviously we've lost players and brought others in but instead of perhaps trying to cover our clear weaknesses it seems JDT has seen fit to try and move the project forward. On the pitch regardless of us not being able to cope due to lack of quality and signing players to fit his system. It's a bit of an odd way to go about things when results are so bad and the goals against column is abysmal. Remember this is the guy who said at the beginning of the season he'd rather will 4-3 every week than 1-0 or 0-0. -
The irony of saving paper in order to get a certificate to pin on the wall ! Netzero summed up.

I agree he looked ok compared to other sightings of him but again him starting before Ennis shows what a piss poor signing that is. -

And the starting 11 the game before was more than good enough to go to Huddersfield and get something. -

He hasn't got the nous i'm afraid and it's no surprise because when has he ever been in this position before ? Won two titles being able to put together the best team at arguably the biggest club and biggest budget in a league that probably isn't as strong as this one. He's a great 'on top' manager and i firmly believe if he had a proper budget last season we'd have fought for promotion to the wire. When we aren't getting 'on top' of teams there is absolutely no plan B and awful in game management. I know we are a young squad but there is no need for schoolboy football and its lame excuses. -

Yes and we've been here before. If we are doing ok and fans are saying come on Venkys invest then we can go for it with this fella or the last guy all you hear is don't call the owners they are investing 20 mill per year. We struggle and it's clear as day that the coaching and team selection is part of the issue it then becomes 'oh it's all the owners fault'. Balloon of a fanbase we have. On a matchday it is up to the coach/manager to eek out a result or two with whatever he has to work with. Lets face it we can't be that bad if we keep getting praised by opposition and we had enough about us to be in a decent position not that long ago. So there is always something there to work with. -

The coach doesn't mention the coach anymore, perhaps hes realised that isn't the issue. Then again i reckon most teams owned by billionaires would go down to Southampton and stay over the night before. Did our lot or did they spend the day on the luxury bus we don't own ? -

Yes he shouldn't get away with no responsibility either. Every game he's sat there with his notes looking like someone who has just turned up to do an assessment for a third party. Then further across the bench we have Lowe sat there looking confused, wtf do these lot offer apart from putting cones out for the warm up ? I might be wrong but weren't Sheff Weds a bit rubbish when Remi was there ? Continental coach, continental style, pleasing on the eye when it works but creating your own problems when it doesn't and it's going to need to change here. -

tomphil replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
No pal he can be part of the solution for sure but sadly as time goes on he is part of the problem. On our arse yet no start for Ennis and he throws on Telavich and Markanday, 4 changes yet still play the same way. Yes we are weak as piss but the selection and tactics are down to him. Again i thought we were ok yesterday but the same old stuff undid us and there just isn't any nous on the sidelines i'm afraid when we really need some. -

Well just in and i can honestly say again we were't that bad but we weren't good either. Too easy again for the opposition and this coach and team haven't got the first clue how to dig out any sort of result. Shithouse CEO and Shadowman, tax dodging owners and a welk for a coach. The End. -

It's essential if they are expecting a bid for one of our defenders. One out one in remember. -

The model is one out one in so someone will be going out on loan at least, maybe Telavich or however you spell it. -

1300+ going over for this so nowhere near the full allocation but another terrific effort all things considered and about time there was some reward. A nil nil would be celebrated but i suspect he'll just go for it again so lets pray we are on the money tonight. -

Any extra bods are welcome at the min but is he even coming now and can he make the step up ? Yet another young development player isn't going to solve our recurring problems but i suppose it fits the model and the excuse book. Who is making way if he's coming in now ?
