  1. WHAT?!? I agree with you about not putting Pedersen up front - I just don't think he's a striker. What I do disagree with is how can you claim "we will lose goals from midfield". Goals are goals and I can't see how it matters where they come from! Pedersen COULD score more than our other strikers put together in a more attacking role, so how would it matter if we lost goals from midfield? As long as we create chances then we're laughing really because at the end of the day it's about whether or not you have the quality of players to FINISH off moves at one end, and defend at the other.
  2. Always thought 'Gamst' seems a pretty level-headed lad. I think he still has a long way to go, and he certainly isn't the finished article that some people on here are pointing out! However, he's only 23, he's already a major star in Norway, and he seems to be constantly improving. When a player seems naturally able to get goals, then they will always have the basic needs of a forward sorted!
  3. They interviewed Souness on Sky Sports after the game. The reporter said to him: "Graeme, you were playing a top eight team today - what problems did Blackburn pose for you today?" or something to that effect. Souness' eyes dropped for a second and seemingly lost their sparkle. I think he realised what a terrible error in judgement he has made.
  4. Your spot on there Phil. I reckon if you don't free up at least one World Cup squad place for a promising youngster, you're going to surrender a possible advantage and the unearthing of a gem. Look at Wayne Rooney - he was regarded as just a kid until we put him into the team and look what he has achieved! Take a chance I say. Nobody is saying he's going to be our best player or even start any games. Let's at least try him in a couple of friendlies and see if he's made of the same stuff as the Roonster!
  5. I say we try him in a couple of friendlies for England. Now I know the lad is young and is very very inexperienced even at league level but even if we just put him on the bench, it will give him vital experience and I'm sure the likes of Wayne Rooney and Gary Neville etc will keep him firmly on the ground. It's also a chance to show the world the type of talent this country is producing. Can you imagine a future partnership of a 24 year old Rooney (with six years International experience) and a 21 year old Theo Walcott (with five years)? We would be the envy of the world! I say put them in young (but don't burn them out) and reap the rewards in the future.
  6. Theodore at a guess. If only he could play in the same team as a Simon and and an Alvin, we could all sing the theme tune to the Chipmonks cartoon. 'We're the Chipmonks, Alvin, Simon, Theodore, duh duh, duh duh duh do.' To hear thousands of people singing that would make my life complete.
  7. Yeah at least we've heard of Theo Walcott. Arsenal probably aren't going to sign him just because he scored a 'good goal' in the Italiano Minto Goalio Video 1996.
  8. Oh come on. Surely to god a club as big as Arsenal with hundreds of thousand of supporters would not risk £12m on a kid that 'may not even make it at the top level'. I'd say he's nearly made it now, and he's 16years old and been playing footie for a only a couple of years ago. I wonder how much they will pay him - I bet his parents are relieved because now he will be able to afford his own Scouts and swimming club subs.
  9. Mmmm that link - I'm sure both Grabbi and Andy Cole cost more than Kevin Pieman Davies.
  10. I don't prescribe to this theory of having goals come 'from all over the park'. A goal is a goal - simple as. Bellamy is running one on one against a keeper and looks like he is going to score, if he squares it to a midfielder and he bags, does this make our team any better statistically than if Bellamy (as a striker) would have bagged himself. I would try Pedersen up front if it meant playing Peter on the wing. Two points though. I have never witnessed Pedersen playing up front, nor have I ever seen Sergio Peter in the flesh. So I suppose this makes my opinion useless! I reckon we give it a do in the cup against West Ham.
  11. However the comic that is the NOTW has stated and I quote: "Middlesbrough are not keen on letting Steve McClaren go."
  12. Whooooo! Go Shefki! Aren't strikers supposed to do this? The only danger Kuqi posed when he came on was that towards his own football career.
  13. Please name these players before you make a very broad comment like that. I do like Kuqi but I accept the fact that he is one of the worst strikers in our division hence the FREE transfer and NO INTEREST in the player once he became available. I'm sorry but that is laughable. Dickov is twice the player Kuqi is. Paul is intelligent, quick and technically gifted - at least in comparison to Shefki. Dickov annoys his own supporters? ######! He doesn't annoy me, or any others that sit near me, and by the sounds of it Thenodrog - maybe we should have a vote? At the end of the day my view is this - we took a gamble on Kuqi The Friendly Giant at the expense of nothing. He's been pretty bad overall. He will do until we buy/loan a better striker - ideally some time early next week.
  14. I agree with The Walrus if he says Nakata shouldn't have been sent off - it was unfair and with it being a derby game and all the referee should have had more sense. However, when he says that Savage committed the same amount of fouls as Nakata and didn't get booked....so what that doesn't matter! What a boring game it had 0-0 written all over it from beginning to end. TO THE NATIONAL MEDIA - who's the thugs now then eh?
  15. I thought he would be celebrating the fact that he had played! Was watching the game in a busy pub with the sound turned down. Can anybody tell me what sort of reception Matt got?
  16. Somehow I can't really see it. I know Jansen has done well for us, but you have got to look at the facts: o Matt has somehow got the 'hero' tag. Don't know how, don't know why. He's a nice lad for sure and he did have a couple of seasons where he bagged a few. He made a massive contribution to the promotion cause, but in my opinion no more so than the other 'heroes' of that season like Friedel, Berg, Hughes, Dunn, Duff, Flitcroft etc. o He has done one of only three horrendous acts possible by a Blackburn Rovers player. Signing for @#/?s, signing for Nob End or signing for Wankies is a no-go, and he has done the latter. I'm sure many of us fans want to remember Matt for the goals, the skills etc, but unfortunately he is only going to be remembered really for wasting a career (arguably through no fault of his own) and then jumping ship to W-Wanderers. Matthew you silly silly boy. Having said all that 44 goals in 104 league starts for Rovers does sound pretty impressive. Soccerbase clicky Matt I wish you no harm, but I hope you never play for your new club.
  17. What I can't understand is the fact that Kuqi is absolutely MASSIVE, yet he seems to have the strength of a six-year old David Bentley. I love the KuqiMonster but he needs to sort his head out before Hughes sorts it out for him.
  18. I don't normally do predictions but here goes: Rovers 2 Wanky Wanderers 0 Goals: Pedersen, Bellamy Attendance: @#/?
  19. Absolutely Phil. I think the club should consider the fact that if they are not willing to try new marketing ideas or indeed cut the prices of tickets, then surely empty seats might as well be given to kids (accompanied by paying adults of course! ) who can try the Rovers and then one day become full paying adults themselves. I for one would much rather bump our attendance up by a couple of thousand kids if we weren't going to sell those tickets anyway!
  20. I can't see it meself. Manchester United have gone from being a club solidly built on legends and very good homegrown talent - Charlton, Kidd, Pallister, Cantona, Beckham, Scholes etc - to a club propped up with foreign wasters with little talent or false intentions - Veron, Forlan, Ronaldo, Park Ji Sung, Heinze, Bellion etc etc etc. The grounds on which we were all once so jealous of Man United have since faded away and replaced with the sweet taste of mockery. United have also bought two more Johnny Foreigners today. The Glaziers will undoubtedly play their part in prolonging their misery, and will compound it by appointing a foreign manager as Alex Ferguson's successor. There next manager WILL be a foreigner unless Mark Hughes qualifies Rovers for the Champions League, or wins the FA Cup and League Cup in one season, or achieves something of equally inprobable magnitude.
  21. This shows how utterly attrocious the marketing department is at Blackburn Rovers Football Club.
  22. Some good points there M@tt, but for some of us this is exactly what we DON'T want. I want to turn up to Ewood, pay on the gate (I can't really afford a season-ticket) sit in my seat and watch the game. I don't want to be bombarded with cheesy over-commercialised extra such as non-football entertainment. I don't want to go and spend some more cash in the 'Rovers Megastore' or whatever. I want to pay for my ticket, maybe have a couple of beers and a pie and have a good time in a quality atmosphere. It it was up to me, I wouldn't even have a RoverVision set-up or music before kick-off. Why don't they just show highlights of the Rovers on the big-screen - in silence - and let the fans generate their own atmosphere like it used to be done!!! My ears take a severe beating when I go on Ewood now and it's not good. To me there are major issues Rovers need to look at: COST - Perhaps this is an issue for football in general, but there have been some good ideas above. MARKETING - Let's increase the fan base and spread the word! Let's tap up the 'disadvantaged' areas in football such as Blackpool, Preston, Lancaster, Chorley, t'other side of Burnley , etc etc. "Come and see the Rovers for proper football - just like it used to be", could be a good start. Or in the Burnley/Blackpool/Preston areas what about "Why go and watch a lower league team? - watch the Mighty Rovers for less!!!". Imagine seeing that on a bus stop poster in Burnley town centre!!! Come on Rovers let's milk that audience because it is defintely out there! TRAFFIC/PARKING - This is possibly more of an issue for Blackburn Council rather than BRFC. With regards the report - well done lads and lasses! A cracking read and just about gets all the relevant points across. Just one question though? Why on the BRISA logo, does it have the blue half on the wrong side?
  23. I don't. It was a guess, and would probably make sense.
  24. To be honest I always liked Paul Jewell when he was at Bradford, but then again you could say that they exceeded all expectations by staying in the Premiership too. I think the top five Premiership managers I sincerely dislike are: 1) Graeme Souness - for obvious reasons, but also the way he never seems to be able to muster the slightest of smiles. Now I know there are some miserable gets out there (Sparky being one of them), but this guy takes the p!ss. Everybody hates him. Even his kids. 2) Alex Ferguson - refuse to call him 'sir'. I think he underservedly takes 100% of the credit that is given to Manchester United, when there are some other factors that have played a part in the building of his club. Off the field, he has had the backing of a couple of the most successful chief execs around - namely Peter Kenyon. On the field, he has had the luck of having the early 90's youth crop. You give any club an 18yr-old David Beckham, Ryan Giggs, Gary Neville, Phil Neville, Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt, and they are hardly going to be moaning about the lack of promising youth. 3) Steve Bruce - his smug little face sums up everything I feel about Brum City. He thinks he's a better manager than he really is, and the way he left Huddersfield and Crystal Palace was truly sh!te. 4) 'Arry Redknapp - his twitch, as Col says, is very very annoying. He does not seem to possess any loyalty in his managerial career - Bournemouth, West Ham, Portsmouth and Southampton must all really hate each other and for one manager to manage all four seems very bizzarre to me. He's southern aswell which never helps matters. 5) David Moyes - just because I do. He whinges, he's managed Nob End and pretty much achieved naff all, yet still seems to be regarded in the press as one of the most promising managers around. He also got 30mil for a youth player and has spent it on nothing but plasters and bandages.
  25. Aren't Jemal Johnson and Matt Derbyshire both on loan at other clubs? I'm sure I saw a Matt Derbyshire playing for Plymouth against Leeds t'other night.
