  1. Think that's a bit harsh Ste. You don't know, as well as all the other members on here, what the terms of Matt's contract were. You also don't know the ins and outs of the accident itself. To say someone was 'buggering about' on a motorbike is a load of old shait too - he was a moped (apparently), not going very fast (apparently) and (presumably) wouldn't be 'buggering about' if he was on the verge of becoming an England player. We all know the guy is/was a sensible young lad, and it was simply an unfortunate accident. And to say "he's had three years worth of wages...", well it wasn't exactly his fault that he wasn't being played and the club were bringing in his replacements!!! All credit to the guy for keeping his head down and working hard, but also not saying anything in the media when other players certainly would have. Cheers for the memories Matt and ta-ra.
  2. Mark Lawrenson is a tosser in more ways than one. He knows cock all about the game and I find it laughable that he presents Match Of The Day, the most well-known football show on Earth, alongside Gary Lineker and Alan Hanson who obviously know what they are on about. Even on the rare occasions that he gives us praise, I can sense a hint of sarcasm. Prick.
  3. Absolutely agree with you there Eddie. I for one am sort of hoping he doesn't go to another Premier League club because I can't imagine playing against a team that has Super Matty Jansen in it. I also really really hope he doesn't sign for one of three clubs; @#/?s, NobEnd and W@nky Wanderers. If he did, I would still remember him for the great memories but have to instantly dislike the guy for becoming a scummer overnight. It's sad I know, so please Matt don't do it. Having said all that, I doubt Bumley and NobEnders could attract him if there was a lot of interest. Matt does live in Manchester though so Bolton, Everton, Wigan etc could be realistic choices. My money is on a return to Crystal Palace (you can go there Matt) or a similar sized Championship club such as Wolves, Leeds and Sheff Utd.
  4. Just imagine if Kuqi had have signed for us when he had a trial with the club in the 1999/00 season (i think)! Now I know the guy isn't a world beater, but surely is better than the likes of: Kevin Davies Ashley Ward Egil Ostenstad Marcus Bent Nathan Blake Ben Burgess James Thomas Kaba Diawara (remember him?) That big Spanish guy who could head ...and that's just off the top of my head. And Shefki was FREE! Happy days!
  5. There's no denying the fact that Kuqi is becoming a cult hero more and more with every match. I can't wait to see a confident Shefki Kuqi playing alongside a fully-fit Craig Bellamy. That partnership for me has all the makings of a cracking team!
  6. That has to be one of the most obvious comments ever heard?
  7. Hold on a minute I think we need to be a tad fairer here. Just because somebody keeps going on about the same subject matter, it doesn't make that argument pointless. Let's talk about another member Jan - now Jan is constantly referring to the Scottish clubs, and more often talking about Graeme Souness. Has she/he had any warnings or talking-tos? Phillipl likes to bore us with facts and figures which I fully accept may be interesting to others, but to me it isn't. The difference between these instances is that the majority of posters on here disagree with Vinjay. It seems very disappointing and unfair that a voice/opinion is being drowned out on a public and supposedly democratic messageboard, just because the view of that person is not one of the majority. In response to you Scotty, I knew what Jan thinks about Souness ages ago, I knew what Jim thinks about Souness ages ago, I knew what BluePhil thinks about muslims ages ago, but most of all I know what I thought about this messageboard ages ago.
  8. I think it's too early for both players to make this comparison. Both have been out with injuries, Bellamy more so which incidentally could perhaps justify his lower price tag? And if it's only about value for money, why aren't we pumping more millions into the youth academy to produce multiples of young talent, rather than spending (as you said) £6m on Cole, £6m on Ferguson and £7m on Grabbi - two of which were a waste of space, and the other being pretty ordinary for such a large price tag?
  9. Hey everybody, although I strongly disagree with Vinjay's opinions regarding the Walkers, I must say that his arguments about posting on here are very valid. I'm not under BRISA membership and I've no intention of joining, but does that make my opinions void? I think the mods/administrators/BRISA members/bosses/control freaks should do more to distinguish brfcs and brisa as separate entities. Please don't attack me.....
  10. Possibly, but probably not I would have thought. If rumours are to be believed, Bellamy will be nearing fitness when the transfer window comes along anyway. I would personally give Kuqi and Gallagher a go with perhaps Jansen and Dickov on the bench. Our striking options are poor, but the Kuqi/Galli partnership is untried and has the possibility of a little man big man partnership that could strike off. But then again I doubt it. How gutting is it to see Andy Cole performing out of his skin for City now?
  11. Halsey is a Wanky Wanderers supporter. Nuff said. Tosser.
  12. Yes, but when a player leaves such a big club as Birmin...... I'll get my coat.
  13. I don't think Kuqi is a bad player to have on the bench to be honest. He's a big lad, will do plenty of running and could do well to come on in the latter stages of games in the sort of 'Duncan Ferguson supersub' role. I think the manager needs to look at bringing a striker in in the next transfer window. I'm sure I have now said that sentence for the last consecutive nine years or so! I think we can all agree that Bellamy is a class act and his name is the first name on the teamsheet. We just lack support for this top player, and Kuqi/Dickov surely isn't the answer. Sure, both these players can do jobs in their own ways, but I don't think either player is up to the standard that warrants a starting place in a midtable Premiership team. We really need to look at lower leagues for some fresh talent to spark the team off, and I honestly think that with two top strikers our team would be the dog's danglies. Names like Lee Trundle and Andy Johnson immediately spring to mind. The problem is that none of us actually know how much these sort of players will cost, or in fact how much Rovers have to spend. The club should try to be more ambitious midseason and think along the lines that a striker that helps us climb two places in the league table could help us to an extra £1m in prize money come the end of the season. Maybe a loan signing is the answer? Louis Saha anyone?
  14. Noticed on Match Of The Day and in some national newspapers that there is some very bad press surrounding Robbie Savage's laughable attempt at trying to get Van Persie (?) sent off. Although the reaction by the Arsenal player cannot be condoned, surely plain cheating cannot either??? Just wondered what everyones opinion on the matter is? I feel Savage can be a liability at times, and although I don't feel he is a poor player, I feel playing Steven Reid could work better for us on occasions.
  15. Erm, excuse me but what makes you think that is better than any on this board? Why aren't you posting on your 'first' team's messageboard anyhow? Or are they all just pathetic low-life poorly-paid miniscule-IQ level members on there?
  16. You say that but I would say that about all home games bar Chelsea and perhaps Arsenal. And even those we should have a good crack at. We must make Ewood a fortress!!!
  17. I agree. Take the religion factor out of the derby in Glasgow and I fail to see how it can compare to a Rovers/Bumley derby, a Rovers/Wankies derby or even a Rovers/NobEnd derby. The fact that we rarely play these clubs (exclude Bolton in the past few seasons) only intensifies our derbies. Jan - you seem very bitter, maybe it's bordering on jealousy? I find it hard to acknowledge the views of a football fan regarding derbies, when they claim to support two clubs (albeit in different leagues). How can you appreciate what it feels like to support a club to the hilt no matter who they are playing and how they are doing? Who do you support if Rovers play Celtic? Do you support Celtic more than Rovers if they win the SPL, and did you support Rovers more when we won THE Prem in '95? Please tell me because I really cannot fathom the logic of a split loyalty football fan.
  18. Absobloodyexactly! He only did what most of us would have done in that era with that kind of money. Legend - only wish I could have seen him play live.
  19. Why don't you take your petty little arguments away with you into your silly little mini league. Us big boys in the English Premiership have better things to do than listen to your farcical claims of being big clubs. Rangers and Celtic are simply two football clubs in Scotland that happen to be much bigger than the rest of their competitors. Incidentally these two clubs happen to be in the same city therfore their support is divided between Catholics and Protestants. End of story as far as I'm concerned, they are in no way comparable to clubs in proper leagues.
  20. Thought Emerton was very ordinary and frustrating until his (deflected) goal. After that he was good. I'd still drop Emerton for the Chelsea game though. He does not possess the quality/confidence to beat any quality defender, and his laid-back attitude will be suicidal against a top class team who will be likely to struggle against anyway. Not that I particularly dislike the lad or anything, and I really hope he finds his feet, but at the moment I would leave him on the bench and perhaps carry on with Bentley.
  21. Peter Crouch is an excellent footballer. It just sounds wrong.
  22. Well yes you would think that it is stating the obvious. However, club directors seem to disagree. If I buy a season ticket and it works out that I get four games 'free' (I don't know the exact number of games), how is that worth my purchase. Without a season ticket I can pick and choose my games, not bother going if I want to do something else, save money if I want, go on holiday without thinking about which games I'm going to miss and not have to fork out £400 or so. Now if the club made it really worth it to buy a season-ticket, we would: o Have money upfront before the season starts for transfers o Have more bums on seats o Be offering a cheaper service to our customers/supporters and potentially attract more in the process Empty seats don't offer any profit whatsoever, so why not just lower the prices and see what happens?
  23. The club must make buying a season ticket more worthwhile to fans.
  24. Hold on a minute. Surely you can't both have partners that is the manager in the Blackburn Ladbrokes that this guy visited? Unless you are the sa......
  25. Well you are entitled to your opinion of course, but I would say that one of the qualities that Gray does not possess is that of pace. He isn't slow, but any player with a trick or two up their sleeves seems to give one the perception that that player is also pretty quick. I'm guilty of the same - Pedersen, Pires etc. I would suggest that Gray is not that much faster than Matteo, and taking into account Matteo's overwhelming physical and defensive presence (compared to Gray), Gray would be the wrong choice at left back when playing against the likes of Chelsea. I would also question the comment "our recent defensive problems...". I don't think these exist to be honest. OK, we conceded three against the Geordies (which doesn't exactly sound like the most successful of defensive performances), but I'd say that wasn't down to pace at the back. Shearer's goal was simply a player smashing the ball has hard as he could, Owen's goal was a header, and N'zogorogibiasdogobogia's goal was purely down to a uncharacteristic positional error from Ryan Nelsen. I would agree, our defence DOES lack any significant pace but have yet to see it highlight itself as a problem. Most Premiership defences lack the pace of their attack, possibly because like us, they prefer to have some big, ugly bad-breathed neanderthol at the back.
