[Archived] Mark Hughes - Good Choice ?
thenodrog replied to Ste B's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
What even though it was him that spent £3m on Lily? Kind words indeed waggy. -
I think even Ped would admit that his goal is a mixture of the above Flopsy.............a goal that is all passing and fluid movement followed by a moment of brilliance (or fluke)

[Archived] Poll - Falling Attendances.

Maybe the fact that fans know that any team can come up .........and then are 90% sure that they' have a humiliating season before going straight back down again and usually potless to boot. -

1. Where have I mocked BRISA? 2. Deeyell Bellamy! The last 2 pages are based on my suggestions! -

me too but there would be howls of outrage. Just think of the poor bergers that come to Ewood from long distance and at great expense and end up sitting next to some bloke from Mill Hill whose paid a tenner and who otherwise would be suppin ale in the Raglan? -

I'd agree with that! But if you look at the poll results (the majority of which I do think were prob completed from the heart rather than the head btw....... sorry guys) you will find that we are very much in the minority. -

But have you ever considered the efffect of bankruptcy of any particular club in your thinking? btw....... Nice criticism scotty. Well thought through, well laid out and far better than your normal rude put downs. I bet there was lots of earnest thought and metaphoric pencil sucking that went into that before you pushed the send button, but could you put as much effort into providing your own solution as I asked? Did you ever suffer bad results in an exam because you did not read the question properly? -

mhead.........don't be scared. As I've said many times they only criticise me cos it's all they can do........ they simply do not have any other ideas! I've asked em time and again to put forward solutions and suggestions yet all I get is ever more criticism. -

Easy to argue with that though Paul. Like that widely criticised £10 ticket of a few seasons back all it would do is seiously p1ss off ST holders. -

Oh right. That's umm err ....a very good joke guys...... and very relevent to the topic too. hardly worth 3 smilies though Paul. -
Deservedly so too and in a g o t m that could easily have represented goal of the season. I must say I thought the Beeb had undersold it by only showing the attack down the right. We had played some cracking passing football right from the back before their clip which should have been shown. Goal of the Month has become simply shot of the month.

Remembering things is not your strong suit either is it 'Philip'? Let me elaborate: Remember how many clubs were stronger than us for the 25-30 years since abolition of the max wage and before Jack Walker came along? About 30 imo. The advantage that Jack Walker and his trust fund gives us will inevitably decline. Like everything else in this world it has a shelf life. When that day comes we will cease to defy gravity but will inevitably find our own level which unfortunately is down amongst the lower orders. Worse still for Blackburn is the growing population of Asian descent in the town. The majority of which clearly do not have the same affinity with BRFC that we do, nor will they ever have imo. As this sector is increasing inevitably the number of indigenous people living in and around the town declines...... This board is an indicator of Blackburnians that have skipped the town and no longer visit the ground for whatever reason. Afraid the situation needs much more thought and action than you are offering Philip. Whatever course of action is taken it needs to be remembered that all negotiations are better if taken from a position of strength. One thing that people need to consider (which I'll wager few have in their headlong rush to diss me) is what would happen to BRFC if through necessity or foresight the directors of PNE and Burnley decided to merge their clubs? We'd really be up sh1tt creek without a paddle then. btw Where do Leeds United figure in all this? -

Oh that reminds me.......... Hows BRISA coming along? Is this going to be our future salvation? Strange how Scotty made himself look a stupid and churlish tawt somewhere on here by having a right old go at me (quite wrongly as it happens btw) by saying all I did was criticise other people! Obviously you've not got a mirror at your house have you Scotty? -

Right I gave my opinions and got ripped for them. Well OK but at least I've had a go at providing a way forward and not sat around acting gormless, with my finger up my own arsse criticising others whilst waiting for somebody else to suggest solutions. I even asked the 'learned' Philip to come up with an alternative solution to the problems now and in the future facing BRFC's attendances and viability in staying a top level club and the silence as they say is deafening (as we all probably suspected it would be). So now I'll pass the question over to you 3 smart arses. You are obviously all soooo intelligent that it should be a doddle for you. Or could it be that you have no experience whatsoever in a business environment and have never been required to make a major decision in your naturals? If I may quote Tashor........."Good luck to you - but I hope you remove your myopic glasses for long enough to ensure that you are not merely the musicians playing the dirge at our premiership funeral." Anyway off you go guys. Give us all the benefit of your combined intelligence and experience. We're all waiting with bated breath.......... ..............Otherwise shut the ###### up! -

Are those figures taking into account any promotion/relegation influence? The fact that 2nd div (old git) have lost Sunderland and West Ham's home gates would surely have some negative effect. -

Thats a strange choice to quote, it doesn't match your rude (as usual) reposte. Anyway, and for what its worth if you bothered to study the replies of the poll above you would have to admit that merging could have a positive influence on 80% of the objections voted for. Makes you think eh Scotty? Then again it'd take more than the honest opinions of most of the regular members on here to achieve that particular feat wouldn't it? -

Despite many clubs allowing disabled supporters on free, and despite empty seats on Tuesday night Peter Kenyon's Chelsea have more than doubled prices for the disabled from £21 to £48+! http://www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,2002390...5430106,00.html Yet another reason for a total boycott of Stamford Bridge this season! What a message that would give out. ps (You'd better tell Pittard and Birdy b4 they get their tickets waggy! ) -

I went to Darwen Grammar and I can tell you that 80% of Darreners support BRFC! With the others supporting Bolton. (MU supporters dont count in any discussion re local support). The situation that I was really referring to was regarding Blackburn Olympic. How mant supporters of the would have said 'stuff it! If Olymic fold I'm never going to watch t'Rovers'? Yet all their kids did ultimately! Time heals all wounds. As for your questions, I'll answer in my own order. A Big Bang theory would not work imo. 2 Clubs would need to start the initiative to work in the long term. BRFC if they can remain strong and one of either PNE / Burnley. Preferably when one gets relegated or goes skint...... the latter would make it much easier incidentally. That would give us the whip hand in any negotiations. 1st move would be to begin a period of entente cordiale. We could loan our surplus squad members and poss share the Brockhall facilities. Our reserves could play as one combined team with their reserves (subject to league approval) at either Deepdale or t'Turf, under the chosen new name (Not LU hopefully) and in the new colours. Once people get used to the ideas they might just get into the idea of supporting 2 clubs (as it used to be) albeit 1 very much in front of the other. The above would be simple and would cost nowt only time and a lot of pr and positive spin, but hopefully it would help change entrenched attitudes in order to move onto the next stage toward total integration. In the meantime Philip I (as I am sure we all would and BRFC too) would welcome YOUR solution to the worsening situation. Continue as we are doing and we will see 4th Div football at a half closed Ewood Park with a supermarket on the car park and Khabbadi on nthe pitch every other week. And however much you FLB, CLB and SG say you would prefer that to merging with one or more of our neighbours I bet you will all have packed in. As an aside I find it revealing that it appears that the people with most objections are from away off and never go now! What is it with you guys.. irrational homesickness? Is BRFC really all you have to hang onto in your distant lands? Do dreams of childhood memories long past which distract you from todays reality? Does Ewood hold womblike qualities for you? A psychologist would surely enlighten us. -

Thats the ultimate irony! If we all went to the match Gray would be out of a job! The fact that Sky do it so well is why the crowds are turning away. Catch 22. Pro Footballers really are terminally thick aren't they? -

OK Philip I'll humour you. Lets go back a century or so............ One professional club in Blackburn and Darwen? 1) Where would they play? 2) What colours would they play in? 3) Which clubs would they absorb? 4) Would this be a merger of equals or would some clubs get more shares than others? 5) Which season do you propose this would start? 6) Would you simply fire all the lower division players brought into LU? What year do you think they will be English Champions? or to (mis)quote recent similarly myopic contributions "I would rather stick pins in my eyes than watch Blackburn Rovers. The idea is ludicrous." and "In other words...Blackburn Rovers. Would you support this team? Certainly I wouldn't," imo you all need to think things through a bit more before you post. Let the scales fall from thine eyes! Never say Never.
