Don't send your kids to school in Harrow unless you are willing for them to be subject to the products of barbaric slaughter. Thin end of the wedge as I've warned. Out standards are slipping, our humane slaughter methods are being compromised and our way of life is being eroded bit by bit. http://www.parentdish.co.uk/2010/08/06/halal-only-school-dinners-incur-parents-rage/?icid=main|uk-ws-bb|dl7|link3|http%3A%2F%2Fwww.parentdish.co.uk%2F2010%2F08%2F06%2Fhalal-only-school-dinners-incur-parents-rage%2F

I'd go with that criticism. Candles and menu's were first off the table. As for Parmesan and pepper.... I've never been in but I drive past frequently and imo it doesn't help itself. It always looks dirty and dingy on the outside.

Went to Preston today looking at new kitchens (I've only got 2 of those at the minute Jim. Could do with another in the west wing ). Anyway er indoors and myself dressed rather casually and unencumbered by any parasitical offspring decided to eat over there rather than come home and cook. Influenced by good reports on this board I took her to 'Pond' on Cannon Street. An excellent menu and the excellent Peroni on draft to boot. . Had between us the new potatoes, goats cheese and caramalised red onion with a peruvian lamb dish, scallops in chilli and a mushroom dish. Superb fare. If anybody goes choose what you like but do order that potato dish! It's spectacular. Lovely early evening dining experience which we will definitely repeat with friends, but next time we have decided we would likely get there and back by train in order that I could fully do justice to that Peroni.

Pies 2. Anybody travelling through Simonstone call in at the Fuzzy Duck sandwich shop and buy a cold pork and apple pie. Dunno if they make them or buy them in but they are superb.

Not as far as I know ...... mind you nothing and I mean nothing would suprise me about that eating place.

[Archived] Childhood Nightmares
thenodrog replied to Blueboy Downunder's topic in I Can't Believe It's Not Football Archive
Well I never! It's revealed here that the majority of parents don't think smacking does any harm. I don't think anyone's been on here complaining of nighmares re: a sharp smack on the legs either. Yet here we have some bloke who is CE of the Childrens society (ffs!) Bob Reitemeyer who reckons he knows better than the nations parents. http://www.parentdish.co.uk/2010/07/08/results-of-an-anti-smack-charity-poll-show-parents-support-smack/?icid=main|uk-ws-bb|dl6|link3|http%3A%2F%2Fwww.parentdish.co.uk%2F2010%2F07%2F08%2Fresults-of-an-anti-smack-charity-poll-show-parents-support-smack%2F -
Not been and I'm not going either.

So you suggest that we promote generations of useless individuals breeding on sink estates simply to provide a bit of hybrid vigour? Modern travel takes care of that. Personally I worry about you and others who cannot see the wood for the trees Billy.

At a loose end last night, er indoors was at the hairdressers and the fridge contents were less than inspiring so I bundled the kids in the car and went to the Millstones at Mellor. It was full and stiflingly hot so I bundled em back in the car and remembering your recommendation headed off for Darwens' La Salsa. As you say Tris good value and very well prepared tapas. We had 4 each and were suitably filled. Nice lunch / weekday evening venue, prob not quite enough gravity for a Sat evening bash. One black mark... I'd go again if the proprietor could manage to crack a smile. He looked like he'd lost a tenner and found 50p all night.

Oh I don't know morton. Rem the chaos theory....."When a butterfly flaps its wings in Brazil we get a hurricane of the coast of Florida".
-
Corrected for you. Kamy / morton...... Funny how I answer your two's questions openly and honestly yet when I ask a a couple of very reasonable questions in return you both run for cover. Tell you what I can't edit now so just ignore question 2 and answer Question 1. Now come on 'tell the truth and shame the devil' the pair of you. Kamy... This is a thread about restaurants and food and every post is about an aspect of such. I object strongly to all sorts of things.... On the grounds of cruelty fois gras is a no no for me, veal too. BUT If anything it was your post that was a diversion from the topic. You talked only of halal meat and never mentioned any restaurants at all. Don't you turn into just another board whistle blower will you?
-
I'll answer that immediately..... Quite probably Kamy. I like IndoPak food and that goes with the territory. Unfortunately I am offered no choice. You say there are two KFC's and Subway's in Blackburn and one of each. So there is indeed a choice. Right well there are literally hundreds of IP outlets in Blackburn but do you know of any that offer a choice of meat? Hallal / Non Hallal? I don't I'm afraid. You suggest that I'm a hypocrite so what does that make you? I'd suggest a kind description would be intransigent and intransigence is not an edifying quality for any immigrant communities truly seeking integration is it? Now can I hear your answer to question 1 above?
-
Whether he will or he won't it is unfortunately his personal choice. It is still a sin and a crime in this country to cut the throat of a fully conscious animal in order to bleed it to death but until the law is enforced equally and without exception hallal meat is to be expected in muslim outlets. This is all being quickly eroded though when non islamic restaurants, food chains and even catering wholesalers now view see the selling of hallal meat as a sales issue. 'They wont eat anything else and our lot don't seem to bother' seems to be the current missive. This is a christian country but any christian will have far less choice of menu than a muslim person in a. Blackburn and b. the Trafford Centre. It's foot in the door tactics that are working through the negligence of our kid glove authorities. Anyway let me ask you a couple of questions morton. 1. Do you condone cruelty and unecessary suffering of millions of animals for no scientific or moral reason in our abbatoirs when proven humane slaughtering equipment is within arms length and not used? If so why and on what grounds? 2. Do you think in the future that hallal slaughter will become the norm in the UK through expedience?

Don't be too cock a hoop abbey. Whilst a battle against the basic barbarity of a primitive religion has been won the war will undoubtedly continue.

Get saving up marky.... the thing that constantly lets these places down is the cost of drinks. Stanley House is no exception and the drink prices were ludicrous. Our party all enjoyed the food but drank very sparingly. They should address this issue cos good though it is Stanley House rarely seems busy and a quiet restaurant is so often the beginning of the end.
-
The food is obviously very good but I find Northcote a trifle OTT and stuffed shirtish. Only been the once but to the restuarant at Stanley House but I found the quality excellent and the dining experience a little more relaxed.

[Archived] Benni Mccarthy - Gone
thenodrog replied to adam lodge's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
Correct. Shame that he put weight on and lost fitness but my memory of him is for his skill not his weight. Having said that the change in squad attitude after he left was dramatic, but whether the two events were connected I don't know. -

The suprising thing to me is that he will be letting his country down in the World Cup. I thought when he was here that that might be enough to motivate him to get fit. Obviously it isn't. -
Afraid not. Sorry mac.

People from this mboard crammed together and drinking all day together.......... interesting might be an understatement.

Went again last night with er indoors and another couple and I personally enjoyed it even more. Definitely not a night for the veggies!! Superb well done sirloin steak and excellent home made chips. Normally these type of offers can see cheap meat / small portions / dry oven chips etc on offer but this really was good. Very agreeable wine too and very agreeable price at 40 quid each. Only fly in the ointment was that we blew at least the same again over the bar afterwards! Couple of minor cribs from the rest of the table one med/rare was closer to med/well and the alternative blue cheese sauce was not 'blue cheesy' enough. Just as an aside most restaurants now don't use beef dripping to cook 'proper' chips cos apparently it's not suitable for veggies (just like with most things these days the effin minorities are screwing the majority over yet again ) . But on 'steak nights' I think an alternative chip pan should be used.

It's like seeing Walkelys Clogs in Jimmy Choo's shop window.

A huge step in the right direction. http://www.projectprevention.org/ I've said as much many times over the years. imo an open policy of offering a one off payment of £5000 for a vasectomy should reel many of the druggies and dollopers in, save money, reduce taxes and overall prove a huge long term benefit to society. All our skewed benefit system is doing is lowering the quality of the national gene pool.

Thats certainly smart marketing.

Black pudding? Afraid I can't easily think of anything less veggie! What is it?
