  1. I ate there fairly late last night and the Specials menu was decimated by stuff being sold out.
  2. I'm no great cricket fan so I've probably missed this but do we actually know what he did to deserve his exclusion?
  3. Either you are taking the pee or you need certifying. Nobody wants to even live either near a runway or under a flight path yet you recommend sitting right next to one for a nice meal and a beer and paying to park your car on top of that! Whats next up for you Tom.... a barby in the middle of Switch Island when the weather warms up a bit?
  4. Odd thing Gav.... I used to love a good curry a few years ago now I've gone right off them. tbh I prefer a chinky these days although typical English/continental from the plethora of good gastro pubs in the Ribble has replaced both these days. Reminds me ....gav have you ever played golf? If you want to try I've a set might suit... my sons grew out of them at 12.
  5. Darwen's been good for Asian restaurants for 30 years + now but aren't there plenty of good quality eateries around Bastwell and within a couple of minutes easy walking distance from your home Gav?
  6. I thought we'd been a significant export market for kangaroo meat for well over a decade BUT only for use in dog / cat foods! Once BSE had been identified in cattle and over 30 month beef it was banned from use in the manufacture of pet foods. I suppose now that over 30 month beef is back on the menu for pet foods that those aussies needed to open up other markets for their 'Roo'.
  7. No doubt another legacy of Munich 58. That disaster did more to increase the Man Utd support base than any other single event imo.
  8. Whats the Greater Rishton Food Festival like these days Abbey?
  9. His test and county records speak for themselves Al.
  10. I don't rem him as a player but he was my favourite in being the best, most informed and shrewdest commentator. A pleasure to listen to. He was to test cricket what Peter Allis is to golf majors. All the same 84 is a pretty good innings but it does highlight the dangers of too much sun. I guess that leaves Sir Geoffrey as the best source of incisive and informed opinion.
  11. Just as an aside boars have a 8-10 minute ejaculation producing up to a pint of semen. Unless..... http://www.ebaumsworld.com/video/watch/81620442/ Shocking eh?
  12. Unless you can qualify that then all I can say is a. what a stupid generalisation. and b. Not that I expect much else but what a stupid 'Like' from the resident messageboard numpty who in the post above had just criticised a BMW driver!
  13. Some people simply do not value their lives though do they? Today I was at traffic lights turning right, the lights went to green and I waited until there was a gap in incoming traffic and was able to set off as long as I wads quick about it, but as I turned I was square on to numerous schoolgirls sauntering across the road in full hijab who simply couldn't have seen me bearing down on them becuase I certainly could't see their eyes and worse didn't even look either way! No doubt if I'd ploughed into them I'd get done because the law is like that but on the other hand they'd be dead. So odd that they didn't appear to care and must play this crazy form of Russian Roulette every day. Maybe not but the cyclist is dead and the driver lives. Weird that they gamble so readily with their own lives. See my post above.
  14. Just more local disruption and inconvenience I expect. Perfectly good purpose built velodrome in Manchester to ride their bikes around and people who haven't contributed a fig to the roads want to wreck our lives. Whats wrong with these people? If he isn't I predict half of them won't finish the course.
  15. My mate reckons the blue elephant is very good. That can't be too far away can it?
  16. Correct cos when you flatten one on a country lane there are no witnesses.
  17. Champagne socialism is alive and well around these parts it seems. 'Let them eat cake' eh Gav.
  18. Oooops! http://www.aol.co.uk/video/john-inverdales-terrible-gaffe/518695696/?icid=maing-grid7%7Cuk-ws-bb%7Cdl5%7Csec1_lnk2%26pLid%3D335658 'Slip of the tongue' just makes it funnier.
  19. Aspinall? ...... Cheshire company, Cheshire prices I guess. I'm down to go soon but I've a feeling they might struggle in the long run. They need to be very careful food and service etc MUST match up to the higher price. I saw this happen to the Butlers Arms last year. Really good new decor throughout, but a menu that topped the Clog and the O&O for prices and prepared by a poor chef. Chef's changed for the better now and there is a very good 'Market Menu' providing excellent value with two courses for a tenner, but the damage has been done. People are ever willing to try a new restaurant but a bad experience makes them unwilling to return.... and bad news tarvels fast. The original Chef was awful and I understand isn't even cheffing now but ultimately it's the owners fault. There are so many good eateries around here that they can't afford a slip up and they are the ones with it all to lose.
  20. Well done roverzee. The green eyed god aint nice to behold. Still speaking of that pair and their ilk old George Orwell had it about right about some of those pigs being more equal than others didn't he?
  21. What word would you employ instead pb?
  22. Hardly! He's just a disciple from the Church of Latter Day Champagne Socialists. Aint that right PB!
