  1. Fulham deserved to win as they controlled the game for large parts without really creating too many chances. We ended the game with players all over the shop in what looked like disorganised chaos. Interestingly when we had all the strikers on Fulham went to a back five and Parker looked worried. Perhaps if we had been more adventurous from the start we might have got something. I don't think anybody played particularly well and a couple aside nobody was particularly bad. I felt sorry for JRC as he looked uncomfortable in the role he was given. Gallagher once again looked like an expensive flop. As the end of the season gets closer the real worries for me start with loan players going back and out of contract players who will need replacing. Using the awful January window as the yardstick I can't see us really improving the squad with new players. I would like to see some of the youngsters given game time as we paddle along in mid table.
  2. He also said they have three separate audits that are undertaken but he didn't say who by. He also said the EFL are satisfied with the accounts.
  3. Excellent news that Tony will be on the pitch before kick off. Hopefully everybody makes an effort to get there slightly earlier to give him a real ovation.
  4. I went last night and the fear that many have regarding our finances (including FFP) didn't seem to be a big concern to Waggott and Cheston. Cheston doesn't seem comfortable being questioned but Waggott is quite relaxed and open. He talked about honesty and humility and he came across that way. I have spoken to him previously and he listened and took on board my suggestion. In short I trust him. I spoke at length to another senior figure and he asked me about the negativity towards the owners. I told him in my view they need to explain why certain events happened. I said they need to be contritional if they are ever to regain trust and perhaps reach out to lapsed supporters. He said he would feed that back but in all honesty I can't see it happening. Mowbray is passionate about football and comes across as having real enthusiasm for his job and the players. He gets carried away I feel at times but I can see why players want to play for him. I haven't changed my view that he has taken us as far as he can. I wasn't totally enamoured with Radio Lancashire and Andy Bayes who let certain agenda items drift along. I thought the debate about where away fans are and recycled cups were inconsequential to the meeting and maybe more appropriate for the Fans Forum. All in all it was pretty much as I expected having spoken to people who have been previously.
  5. I hadn't picked up on the numbers being the same - good spot. How would that work in a 'working model'?
  6. https://www.lancs.live/sport/football/football-news/inside-blackburn-rovers-finances-what-17494957 This article pretty much lays bare our financial issues. With FFP looming large I can't see anymore big spending either on transfer fees or wages. It mentions 154% of income spent on wages alone now. In my view the only way out of this mess is bringing the kids through and selling them on.
  7. Indeed he did at Wigan. That was season ending too. I also remember Lenihan going up front after treatment at Southend in our first League One match for what was a broken metatarsal. In those two instances we had used all our subs but irrespective it seems like had practice.
  8. Cunningham, Rothwell and Holtby all returned to the pitch after lengthy treatment for their respective injuries. I really don't know if going back on exacerbated their injuries medically but I can't honestly see them going back on as a good thing. Anybody know if this would have been the case?
  9. I was at the game and I thought Brereton was distinctly average. The goal aside he didn't offer too much and was playing as an orthodox centre forward. I just don't see many positives about him. Of the other senior players Williams was the best and Johnson, after a shaky start dominated midfield along with Davenport who was fine. Samuel was more in the Brereton category for me. I was more impressed by both full backs though. Both looked to get on the front foot but they both had a physicality to them which they will need if they ever got a chance in the first team. And Hilton looks ready to at least displace Leutwiler on the bench.
  10. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/51350811 A really bizarre situation arising from VAR in Spain. I found it quite funny that they had to get him from the changing room after his wrongful red card. Significantly this was in the Spanish Second Division. VAR in all its splendor will be in the Championship soon.
  11. Wow. That is so touching and sad. Tony is a Rovers legend, that goes without saying but most important than that he is a gentleman. I had quite a few dealings with him and his humility and warmth were apparent. Massive credit to Natalie too.
  12. There is no doubt he acquitted himself well and showed himself to be capable and able to cope with Championship football. I just think calling his performance excellent is extreme.
  13. I thought Rankin-Costello had a decent game but saying he was excellent is extreme. None of our players were excellent. Had he been excellent I'm sure he would have played the whole match.
  14. I replied to your email last night.
  15. Not strictly Lancashire but it's good to see Barrow seven points clear with a game in hand in the National Conference. With a strong Rovers connection there getting promoted would be terrific for them and the area. Conversely Chorley are eleven points adrift.
  16. Thanks. Will the agenda be issued in advance of the meeting and do questions here to be submitted in writing?
  17. I thought that in a pretty dire match we got away with a point which I would have taken at 3 pm. The swirling wind made things difficult as players from both teams continually over hit passes. For me Travis was our best player and his vision to see the give and go for his goal shows how he is developing an understanding of the game and his role. I hope Holtby isn't going to be out for long as he is one of our best technicians with the already absent Dack and Rothwell. From my vantage point he didn't look right after his first bout of treatment and I hope that sending him back on hasn't made it worse. I also saw Williams stripped and ready to come on. I thought it was going to be for Lenihan who appeared to be injured and not moving right after a challenge. Thankfully he stayed on. Points gained away from home like today can be valuable if we can win at home. That will be tested to the full next week against a really good Fulham team.
  18. I wouldn't mind going if they aren't taken up.
  19. I have to say I haven't got a good feeling about this. Equally as worrying is the potential of injury to one of several key players which could see our season capitulate in a mirror image of last February.
  20. It's a message board where people's opinions differ but ultimately count for nothing. The point is that I don't believe Mowbray will blood some of these younger players. It's sink or swim time but Mowbray is still wearing arm bands.
  21. Fans on messageboard should influence things then? Mowbray is the only person who can control this situation. Many see the youngsters as a way forward - what's your suggestion?
  22. So would I but I have grave doubts that he will. And if he does it will only be when our season is confirmed. I watched the under 23's last Saturday and was mightily impressed with some of the younger group. Two French lads in particular caught my eye. In a nutshell it's the only way forward in my view but the manager has to come out of his 'safe' mode but, as I said I doubt he will.
  23. But surely if there were potential FFP issues the owners and Waggott would have pulled the plug financially and given him nothing. Something once again is massively amiss.
  24. In fairness I'm sure Mowbray said he had money left over from his transfer budget in two of the recent windows. They were comments I was scratching my head at. It is my belief that he operates with complete autonomy and his decisions are not questioned here or in India which is totally unhealthy for a professional football club.
  25. To quote Cantona: When seagulls follow the trawler it is because they think sardines will be thrown into the sea.
