Is that the Jim White of 'Venkys we are coming for you' fame? The same bloke who allowed Andersons crocodile tears live on his show? It looks like he is now on a crusade against bad owners.

I really think Mowbray is beginning to feel some sustained pressure for the first time in two years. It's how he responds to that pressure that could well determine his future. Despite him publicly shaming Raya I expect him to start tomorrow in a last chance saloon situation. The sentence below in his interview just give me that impression. “It’s a difficult one, because the goalie going in has to get the job done and then try and stay in the team. If he doesn’t, and the goals still keep going in, when do you go back to your original goalie?” the boss added.

And they glorified Venky's. I have no sympathy at all for them. What goes around comes around for them and their club which isn't even in Bolton.

It's a sad indictment on Mowbray that he might have to change to a back three because he has painted himself into a corner. He can't drop the centre halves because we don't have any more and this awful situation hasn't been addressed in nearly two years and completely on Mowbrays watch. I just can't see a three at the back coping with Nobbers pace and movement. It's not being smart after the event here - many fans I speak to say a centre half should have been a priority but Mowbray saw it differently.

After two awful performances at Preston and Wigan earlier in the season I am hoping against hope that there will be some redemption from Mowbray and his team over the next two games. However I fear the worst and the last few weeks have given me little cause to be even slightly optimistic. Mowbray needs to step up and get his selection and tactics right and accept his responsibility as manager. It's sad to say but I think our best chance of any result is if Preston come into the game over confidently. And that's a sad indictment on how far we have slumped.

He's making it out like he's doing them a favour by paying them. Hopefully he is there on Saturday to really feel the wrath of the fans.

For anybody with an hour to spare I can recommend a documentary on BBC Scotland called Real Kashmir FC. It's available on catch up. Don't watch it with kids around though. The Real Kashmir manager likes the f word. -
Thanks PB. I was wracking my brain trying to think of some old rules.

https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/football/rovers/news/17475892.mowbray-on-how-post-january-slump-threatens-rovers-season/?ref=mr&lp=4 On the poor defensive record, Mowbray added: “You’re not telling me anything I don’t know. “It’s right in front of your eyes. It would be great if we had the old rules of football where you could change the team when you wanted. “But we can’t. We could throw some youngsters in I suppose but I don’t think is the right environment for them. “Let’s win a few games and then we can throw them in and we will see how the season unfolds.” Does anybody understand what he means by 'the old rules of football'?

He's going to be busy as head of recruitment. Goodwillie, Orr, Best, Murphy, Etuhu and Anderson Jnr can all expect a call. -
I don't disagree but didn't Mr Play it Safe revert to type by replacing Rodwell and Rothwell with Evans and Smallwood in a double change early in the second half?
-
I would have thought that any in game changes are down to Mowbray with perhaps some input from his coaching staff. On Saturday he changed our defensive shape twice in a short space of time. In my opinion his constant tweaking and changing of personnel and tactics is confusing the players. I would imagine that all week in training they worked on defensive shape which they started with and within ten minutes of the game starting he changes it and a short time later goes back to the original formation. Baffling.

On Saturday Mowbray started with a back four, after about ten minutes went to a three and at the start of the second half went back to a four. I haven't a flaming clue why. There doesn't seem to be any logic to some of his decisions but he is content to name players who are making mistakes.

There were lots of murmurings of discontent at Rotherham yesterday. It wasn't chanting or anything but quite a few around were I was questioning his tactics and team selection. That's the first time I've heard anything like that at a game. And fans really do have an absolute right to question things.

Another example of our 'soft' mentality yesterday was when a Rotherham player was down injured on the right hand touchline as we looked at it. The ball was in Raya's hands and we were behind. Instead of launching the ball forward he kicked the ball out parallel to our penalty area. The Rotherham player had treatment and then they really took the mickey as they couldn't decide who was taking the throw. When they decided the ball was thrown towards the corner flag not direct to Raya. I'd wager the whole incident used up around two and a half minutes. The referee might have stopped the game when Raya kicked the ball into play but for Raya to kick it out was infuriating. -

It started last season when, for a team who finished runners up we conceded too many goals. We got away with it last year because of the poor quality of opposition. We shouldn't have to be scoring three or four to win a game. And the buck stops with Mowbray who seems to be passing that buck. -

Another baffling decision yesterday was bringing Reed on just after we scored the penalty. With us needing a goal and only a couple of minutes left surely another striker should have been brought on. Was this another example of Mowbrays absolute lack of faith in our £7m man? If that is the case why is he on the bench? Is Mowbray under pressure to have him at least on the bench to save face for somebody? Surely Butterworth would be a better option. One more unanswered question. -

Evans signed an extension in December until July 2021. And we've hardly seen him since. Edit: Sorry just seen your post. -

These last few weeks have given us far more questions than answers and some of Mowbrays interviews are both baffling and worrying. But unless he chucks a few kids in (personally I'd be amazed if he did) then he has very little choice to make any radical changes. It's really worrying and I'm already fearful about next season. -

And all the players in bold got new deals or extensions to their current deals John. And I'd wager every new or extended contract combined ate into a chunk of Mowbrays budget. -

It was bad enough having to sit through that today and to get stuck in roadworks on the M66 but then reading Mowbrays Teflon coated comments has put a tin hat on it. He hasn't signed a commanding centre half despite it being patently obvious to nearly everyone that we desperately needed one, he has persisted with a goalkeeper whose decision making is poor and costs us lots of goals and the most annoying thing is that he is the flaming manager. He is talking like defensive mistakes are something new but we have conceded too many goals since the start of last season and he simply hasn't done anything about it. The buck stops with him, he picks the players, tactics and organises training to prepare for games. If players aren't doing it then drop them. Too many of our players are in the 'undroppable' category and almost know they will be picked whatever. Mowbray spent lots of time today with his trademark head in his hands or berating the fourth official. For a long while at the beginning of the second half it looked like he had thrown the towel in as he sat forlornly in the technical area whilst Venus did the coaching. Relegation is still a possibility as I honestly can't see where another six points are coming from given the malaise at Ewood and inadequacies of the manager. -
I thought he resigned and took Rovers to an independent tribunal for constructive dismissal citing interference by Singh. Again my understanding is that Rovers settled out of court. Purely speculation on my part but the LMA would have supported him legally and financially in his case. What a bleak period in our history. Another reason to thank our owners.
