Not been able to access the site for a while. It's good to have it back. Initially I was a bit disappointed with the Tuchel appointment as I really really wanted Pep and he was always at great pains not to rule himself out of the running so I thought there was a slight chance. The more I think about the Tuchel appointment though the more excited I am by it. He's a great tactician which is what we've been lacking for the last 8-9 years. Someone to push us over the line in tight games. He's also the exact opposite of the safe no risk appointments the FA have often made in the past so all credit to them in that respect for once. I can't believe a lot of the anti German sentiment in many quarters and less predictably from the Daily Mail "A dark day for England etc". It's not 1945 for crying out loud!. Who cares what nationality the manager/coach is if he wins us a bloody tournament?

These games against perceived inferior opposition are more or less irrelevant. The problem is this mindset that you can give the top job in the land to someone with zero senior experience just because they already work within the annals of the FA. It's pretty bizarre really. If he wasn't already an FA man there's no chance at all he would be given a second thought for the England job nor would a top Premier League Club come within a million miles of him based on what he has or hasn't achieved at the FA.

Agreed. The best thing they could have done was to play the game and win it in honour of their former friend. Which they were forced to do and actually managed. A far better tribute to him than sitting around and moping about it. Unfortunately tragedies do happen from time to time.

Carsley seems to view the role as an imposition rather than an honour and if the manager's heart isn't in it the players will soon also fall out of love with reporting for international duty and pulling on the white shirt.

Probably for the best. There was quite a lobby of support building up in the media before tonight to give Carsley the job. Promoting from within worked for Spain therefore it was the only sensible way to go for us etc etc Obviously the two things are complete and utterly mutually exclusive. Just because the Spanish guy was a huge success doesn't mean Carsley is the right man for the job.

Serves Carsley right for trying to be a smart arse and starting with all this false 9 bollux. Overall I just get the sense that Carsley lacks the gravitas to motivate and intimidate this squad of players. Gary Bower (in particular) and Mowbray used to come out with this crap about staying in the game until half time. It's complete lunacy. Is it easier to win over 30 minutes or 60 minutes or 45 or 90? Obviously the latter in each case. Surely the aim should be to be two or three goals up by half time or 60 mins and take the game completely away from the opposition as opposed to trying to hang on for the majority of the games then only giving yourself a relatively short amount of time to score a goal.

I usually agree with you on most things but on this completely disagree. You're entitled to your opinion but in mine Broughton was a complete bullshitter and imposter. Thought that from day one. The three strikers and the CB you're trying to defend didn't even score a goal between them or make a start for the Club respectively. They don't play for free, you cant defend them on the basis that they contributed the squate root of fuck all but we (possibly) broke even on the fee when they left

I absolutely despair every time I read the FF minutes. Nothing is ever their fault, there's a smart arse answer for everything even when they are clearly in the wrong and by and large the Forum seem to sit there nodding along in agreement legitimising it all. Credit to K Hod for asking the pertinent question about lack of transfer investment. What a disgrace of an answer from our so called CEO. Also have we not confirmed that this so called requirement to lodge an equivalent monetary bond is a complete fallacy and they only have to provide personal guarantees (which they won't do)? Every time you read the minutes it feels like there are one or two individuals at the Club such as JDT and Eustace (and since Broughton left seemingly the Recruitment team) trying to make us successful and the "Commercial" side and Waggott trying to run us into the ground. And the Forum just sit there and go along with it for the most part.
