  1. He's making a point of placing the ball back firmly in the Club's Court once again. "The Club needs to provide those players". I also like the comment: "I received some good advice!" (From the supporters) Yeah "Oi Tomasson, Get some f'in players signed!" 🤣
  2. Take it or leave it, The info supposedly comes from the player himself. Why on earth would Brighton let JPVH go for £3m at this stage? I'd have thought we might be able to get him for c £5m in January (that's pure guesswork on my part) but of course we might get gazumped before then by a Club not as limited by FFP or might decide we need someone in before then.
  3. Great news! I'll be signing up. Further to what Sparks said I was wondering if there was a super duper dog's wotsits membership which allowed you to pull up the content of specified contributors without getting banned! 🙄 🤣 In all seriousness, well done and will be subscribing.
  4. I wouldn't completely rule out the possibility of JPVH coming back at some point chaddy as I understand he is keen to return but I don't see it happening yet as he only has 12 months left on his contract at Brighton and as things stand they want a fee well in excess of 8 figures for him. You might scoff at that but of course we are in the same boat with BBD and whilst I don't want him sold at all I'd be very disappointed if we let him go for much less than our reported £20m asking price. I'd have thought JPVH would be a more plausible target in January at a reduced fee but of course we could get beaten to the punch by a Club not restricted by FFP. We'll have to wait and see.
  5. Does seem very far fetched that we'd pay that in wages to a loanee but refuse to go to that sort of level to keep Lenihan/Nyambe/Rothwell etc. Particularly as the money is allegedly there for the right player in terms of fees but the new wage structure is generally something set in stone unless it's to try and protect the value of a 30 goal striker such as Armstrong.
  6. Double post again, sorry must have a slow connection.
  7. I think it's fairly clear that he's asked to take a line that doesn't antagonise or upset the Club in any way and it's primarily for that reason that his output isn't worth reading imo. If people do get any value out of what he writes then that's fine. I don't recall ever reading anything he's written and thinking "Ooohh that's interesting, I didn't know that" however.
  8. Tend to agree, the initial optimism that the signing of Brittain might open the floodgates is dissipating somewhat. The cold facts are we've lost four absolutely key first team players and four or five loanees from last season and only brought one in. There's still time for a flurry of activity before the opening game but by the same token it needs to happen.
  9. Might be a nice chap but his output isn't worth reading imo, only ever comments on rumours or confirms stuff after it's happened and when things aren't going so well and a critical appraisal is required, it isn't forthcoming. Little more than an additional mouthpiece for the Club.
  10. Can't see BBD going anywhere this window unless someone comes in with a suiltable offer. And nor should he imo, we're short enough on quality as it is without losing him as well. I wouldn't be selling for any less than £15m this window or £10m in January.
  11. That's some softening of stance Glen, are you certain you didn't partake of the hallucogenic bourbon creams? We'll have to put them to the ultimate test next, try them out on Gav and if they work on him maybe we can send a crateload over to Putin and stop the war! In all seriousness through I also have to compliment you in asking a series of pertinent and searching questions and thank you for recounting what was said with such terrific recall. Fascinating reading. I'm not privy to the fine detail of discussions with some of the other fan groups but I am aware that like yourself most seem to come out with nothing but good words about Steve Waggott on a personal level in terms of how attentive and accommodating he is and also seemingly considerably more confident about the future of the Club than before they went in. Would you say from what you have heard so far you've had enough encouragement to maybe work in tandem with other fans groups to try and help steer the Club in the right direction?
  12. Mowbray speaks with forked tongue. IMO.
  13. I know many do not accept this, but I am of the firm belief that one off funding was made available and was already in place in January and not used! It does seem from what has emerged today we bid £1.5m for Styles in January.. According to the Peterbrough Chairman we also bid for the player who went to Bournemouth (Dembele was it?) so that's £3m right there and we also spent 800 k and brought in a couple of loanees. Nowhere near what I believe was available but indicative of some funding being available nonetheless.
  14. Not if we get in first with them both! BBD might be available if they want to shell out £50m of it though.
  15. Wow, that's weird. Noel was very young and "Tom Thumb" must only have been early 50's? Both right wingers as well.
  16. Aye all right. You clearly didn't have a clue who Johnny Price was when you replied to CLB' s tongue in cheek post about "Price" being a winger. Understandably so unless you're getting on a bit like me.
  17. Bit harsh probably. Whilst I agree there's still much MUCH more to do in terms of recruitment I'd say this lad theoretically looks in a different bracket to the calibre of player we've brought in over the last couple of seasons. (Pickering, Edun, Hedges etc) Let's hope it pans out that way and let's hope there's at least several more to follow.
  18. A case of a little knowledge being a dangerous thing. Way before Chris Price's time when dinosaurs still roamed the earth we had a diminutive right winger Johnny Price 71-73 time. 5 ft 2 inches and signed from Stockport County I think he was. Despite his size he was a good un as well at old Division 3 (League 1) level. One of my favourite players growing up.
  19. Optimism seems to be reaching dangerous levels on the back of just one signing today. Probably safest to approach it from the view that we're now "only" two or three key first teamers and five loanees down from last season and chalk them off one by one as further bodies arrive. Once they've all or nearly all been chalked off then we can start to feel optimistic imo.
  20. On JPVH, I've been told he would love to come here permanently, however he only has 12 months left on his deal at Brighton and as things stand they want a massive fee for him which of course is their prerogative. As it is our prerogative to ask for a massive fee for BB. Whether or not they'll get it of course remains to be seen so whilst I'd say it's unlikely to happen at the moment it might not be completely out of the question some way down the line. Suppose it depends on whether or not he breaks into their first team.
  21. To me it's looking increasingly likely that he'll be staying this season. Venky's don't need the money and it's starting to look unlikely that anyone will offer anything approaching what we're asking for him. In my view that would be a good thing bearing in mind how thin we currently are in terms of quality throughout the side.
  22. Wouldn't touch Poveda with a bargepole. £10k p.w. for him to keep Ayala company in the treatment room? No ta.
  23. I think people make the mistake with Gallagher of thinking he's this up and coming young prospect who will improve whereas in reality he's 27 in a couple of months and isnt going to get any better. If we want to be successful Gallagher simply isn't good enough and imo if anyone offers the money back we paid for him or even 60% thereof we should snap their hands off. He's not on his own in not being good enough of course, it's far easier to count the players who are. Massive window still ahead.
  24. When Waggott was trying to flog off half of Brockhall, was it not established that we get a grant towards it's running of c £1.2m p.a.and that therefore it's actual cost to us is c £1.8m ?
