Above all else we need the 3 points tonight to get the show back on the road regardless of performance so we'll have to see if it works but...... Mowbray has quickly reverted back to his true colours imo. Couldnt wait to chop Dolan after 2 games in which they were ALL terrible. Conversely, Evans who barely ever has a good game, comes in out of the cold, has a stinker, and retains his place. -

As long as Evans is nowhere near the squad I wouldn't be that unhappy. Edit: looks like he is, how the hell does he warrant a place in the side? ? -

Might turn out to be our key player. Even more so than Armstrong or Dack in isolation. -
We've had all these arguments over the last 2 seasons. What you say is of course correct but another way of looking at it is we're 3 points off it after ONLY 5 games. Extrapolate that over 46 games and....... We're also 3 points off 18th. Massive improvement needed on performance levels shown in the last 2 games. I'd say we need 4 points minimum from Watford and Coventry.
-
This. Can anyone say we really looked up for it yesterday? We didn't really look that arsed, moving the ball around at snail's pace and standing about completely stationary waiting to receive the ball. We've done exactly the same as in recent seasons, get into a promising looking position then chuck in two terribly lame performances. The new faces may help but there'd have to be a complete overhaul of the general attitude and tempo as well. If you didn't know any better you'd think someone else like Johnson had been in charge of the side for the first three League games and Newcastle and that Mowbray had resumed duties for the last two.
-
Here we go already, "let's give him until Christmas" etc. Hopefully we won't have played ourselves completely out of contention barring a miraculous run by then. Seemingly we have the players to mount a realistic challenge this season, we just need the manager.
-
Well, Hughton's win % age is certainly better than it was before 3 p.m. today......
-
Bloody Mowbray can't wait to get Gallagher on can he. Scapegoat the 18 year old. Back to the future.
-
Dreadful first half, playing at exhibition pace, Forest could just line up behind us and watch us play the ball sideways and backwards all day. Evans is a truly abysmal player, like having ten men.
-
Very harsh. You can't really accuse the owners of not backing Mowbray since he's been here. Following relegation to League 1, no high earners sold, Dack and numerous signings in, Armstrong in on loan in Jan to seal the deal. 1st season back, £7m on BB, £3m on AA. Numerous other loans. No pressure to sell. 2nd season back £5m on Gallagher numerous other loans. No pressure to sell. Middle of a pandemic, Ayala will be on big money by our standards, numerous other players in, no pressure to sell. We just need Mowbray to perform a lot better than he's done since we were promoted now.
-
Good to hear. If he slots in on the left with Dolan on the right which I'd like to see that would be harsh on Brereton who has also started well but if he's even better so be it, there shouldn't be any sentiment in football and that's where Mowbray has gone wrong over the last couple of seasons imo.
-
Chelsea probably thought the same about Palmer. Just saying Be extremely harsh on Dolan if he has to split time on the pitch with this lad after the way he's played
-
Hope we manage to get the Liverpool lad done in time, for some strange reason he's the one of today's signings I'm most excited about. We've gone from having a 34 year old spearheading the attack to potentially having two outstanding young talents with a combined age of 35 providing much of our threat. Much more like it.
-
Yep, did more for us than anyone in the promotion season other than Dack.
-
? ?
-
Thanks, hope he comes in if he's as good as everyone says and will be a fairly regular starter. If he doesn't get any game time, don't see the point.
-
So......is he out of contract in the summer then? ? I know all that, but if he does particularly well presumably he'll attract a great deal of interest as a free agent and we might miss out.
-
Definitely.
-
Sorry, I don't make a habit of watching Liverpool's Carabao Cup games or under 23 matches. Must try harder I suppose. He wasn't a name on anyone's lips yesterday though unless I missed it.........
-
Must admit, I assumed Douglas was going to be a permanent signing. Disappointed it's a loan as if he does well we'll probably be priced out of a permanent move for him and we'll be back to square one again. Not if he helps us get promoted though.
-
Because when transfer windows come round, no-one ever suggests we sign a particular player but as soon as we are linked with them, no matter how obscure the player is, all of a sudden everyone knows their life history, inside leg measurement and solemnly declares they are the greatest keeper/defender/midfielder/attacker ever to lace up a pair of boots and we absolutely must have them! ?
-
Not sure, I seem to remember in the back of my mind something along those lines being suggested quite a while ago.
-
OK, take your word for it. People seem to be having kittens at the thought of 18 year old Dolan playing too much let alone a 17 year old. If they're good enough, they're old enough in my book.
