Rhodes scores for Sheffield Wednesday against Norwich. Against Grant Hanley too. Go on Jordan lad. -
Not far out with the old prediction Lol. 0-1 down then Tomlinson comes on and we get to 3-1 up. Coincidence? Wonder how many points TM has passed up this season by overlooking Chapman, overlooking Nuttall and overlooking Nuttall. We coukd be nearly promoted by now ! That though is nitpicking slightly. Put Charlton to tbe sword and Howard Kendall's Club record of eight straight League wins is coming into sight around the corner and over the horizon. To equal and surpass that is all I want for Christmas! How valuable to us are Dack and Mulgrew. Back into cryogenic cold storage for them for another week. Well done everyone.

It would appear that the Oystons clearly siphoned off huge amounts of money from the Club into their own businesses Whilst our fortunes have declined, nothing like that would appear to have happened here. It's a pity though there wasn't another major shareholder about with plenty of money who could have taken the Walker Trust to task for not acting in their fiduciary capacity as Trustees when they first cut off funding from the Club then secondly a few years later sold the Club to owners without any previous experience of running a sports franchise. Hypothetically that would have been very interesting.

Terrible news. I suspect thats our season over as well unless Nuttall proves the salvation.

Just to update on this I was speaking to one of our blind fans last night and Rovers have apparently put in a temporary arrangement wheteby partially sighted fans can listen to the commentary feed for free via a laptop in a room in the Blackburn End. This chap was of the view that it wasn't as good as being on the ground with the commentary feed but was better than being on tbe ground without the feed. He's also under tbe impression Rovers are hoping to do something which would incorporate the best of both worlds. Well done to Rovers for doing this, i was fairly critical on this point before so it's only right I redress the balance. Any partially sighted fans interested in this service should contact Christine Peacock at the Club. You can also of course pay for the commentary feed at home via the internet. I follow or whatever it's called.

Sums it up perfectly. Nor was it a given he should have been playing down tbe middle when he was here imo as prior to the FA Cup games his finishing was absolutely atrocious and he lacked any composure whatsoever when presented with a chance.. I'd have put my mortgage on him being a colossal flop when he left hete, I dont think I've ever seen another player be so poot here then go on and be so successful at a higher level. I can oly think he never really wanted to be here in the first place but there were rumours as well he used to be very pally with Leon Best so that wouldn't have helped either. -

Sorry Chaddy you're speaking very much with the benefit of hindsight here. Whilst their respective careers currently seem to be going in different directions the fact is Rhodes performed generally very consistently here and King was generally terrible. You'd rather have Samuel than Rhodes? Deary me. Id ratber have Samuel than Simon Garner if they both had to turn out tomorrow but I'd venture to suggest SG was the better player! -
Not the finished article certainly but in a completely different class to either Conway or Bennett surely?
-
King was a bit of a strange one as although he was played outside of what with the benefit of hinssight was obviously his best position, he didnt show the merest fraction of what he was capable of until his contract was nearly up and wanted to put himself in the shop window. He should have been capable of a lot better here, even out wide. I do agree though that I cant see the point in loaning players from Premier League Clubs or Clubs in a higher division, Barrow, Samuelson, Emnes, Chapman etc then either not using them or sticking them on the bench. All things being equal they should be better than what we've got already and should be starting until its proven they're no better or worse than what we've got. If you're not going to use them fully you might as well just let a young lad from the Academy sit on the bench.

It's not good I agree but hardly 'cowardice". To play devil's advocate if he didnt feel right on that particular day for whatever reason and didnt think he could score, you might argue he was doing the courageous thing by passing on the opportunity to someone else. I do agree his career appears to be rapidly on the wane though which is a shame as he was a cracking player for us and a top lad to boot. If only we had a 20 goal plus striker last season and even now. Fans here dont seem to mind certain players who I would say display a certain amount of football cowardice. Who never try to make anything happen, never over extend themselves, never try to beat a man, rarely risk trying a defence splitting pass, or move into space for a return once they've passed a ball. In fact they seem extremely well regarded! -

"Cowardice"? I've no idea what you're referring to but Id imagine you're exaggerating somewhat. -

Just caught the second half of the Sheffield derby. Fantastic game and the young lad Brooks playing for SU was absolutely sensational. Best performance I've seen from a youngster in many a year. -
Excellent post from blueboy. Don't understand all this "he's better as an impact sub" tosh. If he's our most dangerous attacking player he's our most dangerous attacking player end of story and we'll never know if he can sustain it for 90 minuts unless and until he is given the chance. Even if he cant manage 90 minutes, surely it's better to play him for 75 and bring him off with us hopefully in a favourable position than limit him to 15 or 20 and expect him to plait sawdust in that time. What do people actually mean when they say he's an "impact player" or a bit "naive" etc. Do they really mean "I refuse to start him as he's only 19" or "He actually tries to make things happen as opposed to going sideways backwards and rarely venturing into the opposition third" The only sort of player I would define as an impact sub is someone who isnt good enough to start but a big lump you chuck on with 15 minutes to go to try and chuck his weight about in the opposition penalty area to try and cause panic and confusion in there (Kuqi). Otherwise, if you're a team's most dangerous player you're the most dangerous player and should be starting regardless of whether you're 19 or 35.

Redknapp came on Talksport within 10 minutes of being sacked Saturday and was bright as a button, so obviously wasn't too distraught at getting sacked. In one breath he said the reason they struggled is that the players he inherited weren't good enough and they couldnt get anyone in over summer. In the next breath he said they brought in FOURTEEN (One four) players two days before the end of the transfer window and he'd only had a week to work with them! Rowett didn't seem to have too much trouble getting a tune out of the players Redknapp thought werent good enough. Good when he gets it right but can be very dangerous for the health of your Club can our 'arry. -

"JLo whistled contentedly and sailed merrily on his way collecting 15k p.w. having seen off yet another manager." How many's that? Kean/Black/Berg/Appleton/Bowyer/Lambert/Coyle/Redknapp. Some going. -
No pressure then........... If he's better than Williams he'll do won't he?
-
I thought he had all the physical attributes and athleticism needed to become a ferocious or even merely a half way effective midfielder but the energy work rate and mentality were exactly what he did lack. Anyhow enough about him. The "King" is dead. Long live the King.
-
Whilst I'm not a particular fan of 'arry's if he substituted Lowe on his debut he presumably wasn't happy with his contribution on the day and I wouldnt have thought it would take him long to suss out he's crap. I cant see him persevering with him season after season like various managers did here. More importantly, as everyone else has said Smallwood looks a far better player. Not sure about that bloomin' song for him though although there was a little kid about 5 years old behind me singing the whole thing with tremendous gusto throughout yesterday which I thought was wonderful.

Completely agree Paul. For the able bodied fan Radio Rovers has been as much use as a fart in a wet suit for many years even pre Venky's due to the fact they had to toe the party line and try to extract the positives out of a 3-0 home defeat etc. That however does not address the question of visually impaired fans. I hadn't read this thread and wasn't even aware Radio Rovers had shut or was shutting down until I spoke to a blind chap last night who was absolutely spitting feathers about the demise of Radio Rovers. I tried to explain to him as diplomatically as possible that this is the way of the world these days and you dont get much for free and without knowing the options I surmised they would be trying to push people towards subscribing to some sort of service via the internet. He wasn't having it though and if it is the case that any available feed doesn't have any audio then that is very poor in this day and age and horrendous pr for the Club as if it could get any worse.

When Tony Mowbray goes for his meeting about next season it should be face to face with one or more of the Raos who inform him that Senior has been potted, that he as manager will be solely responsible for choosing players within the allocated budget and any money saved on Seniors wage will be added to the kitty. What the hell do we need a Director of Football for in League 1 and how much has he earnt already off the Club for the dubious privilege of bringing in Joao on loan.? I've nothing against Joao per se but neither manager seemed inclined to pick him as he wasn't their choice. Ludicrous.
