  1. That's an exceptionally negative line up for me. Essentially you've got 5 defenders, 3 midfielders, Sterling who half the time couldn't hit a the proverbial cow's backside with a banjo and Kane. If that's the line up then for me Southgate is guilty of overthinking it way too much. I would also have Rashford in ahead of Sterling who I expect to be a massive flop yet again. Guess the proof of the pudding will be in the eating as always.
  2. Conway was better than Feeney a few years ago but they're both pretty useless now which is all that matters. We shouldn't be handing out contracts on sentiment.
  3. Well overdue. Many congratulations.
  4. We need to be making sure Dack and Lenihan get what they want and not bothering too much about Graham adopting a take it or leave it stance imo. it's ludicrous to be offering Conway any form. of deal at all for me, he should have been shown the door along with Feeney.
  5. He's 33 in August. Why should he get the same now as he did 2 years ago when he was only 31? As one or two others have said we shouldn't budge and if anyone else is daft enough to be offering a longer deal and he can do better elsewhere he should go for it as he is very much in the Autumn of his career.
  6. Wouldn't bother if I was Rovers, it must be highly debatable whether he'll cut it in the Championship next season in terms of fitness, attitude and ability. We'd probably be better starting from scratch with a couple of younger hungrier players.
  7. Strewth.......I think people need some football to talk about badly. Roll on the World Cup!
  8. There was nothing to suggest during King's time here he'd be significantly better up front. When he played wide for us he couldn't hit the proverbial cow's backside with a banjo. The FA Cup games were right towards the end of his time here and he'd obviously made up his mind to move by then. Maybe Howe shouldn't have moved him from up top but many players would get their heads down and do a job wherever they were asked to play. King obviously isn't one of those type of players
  9. There's a lot of sentimental revisionist rubbish being spoken about King now he unexpectedly had one outstanding season in the Premier League. He didn't get in our side up front because we had two guys in there who scored 41 goals in a Season. When he had the chance to impress from a wider position he invariably stank the place out and only decided to put a bit of a shift in when he was looking to put himself in the shop window during the FA Cup games. Seems history is now repeating itself at Bournemouth, he's been asked to play in a slightly different position, his form has tailed off and the dummy has come out of the pram.
  10. Not sure I'd agree on the merits of Fielding v Raya but my point would be more along the lines that hypothetically we could also blow the rest of our budget boosting the squad depth by bringing in players as back up almost as good as our other best players such as Dack, Mulgrew and Lenihan but I' sure no-one would want us to do that. I'd far sooner see us replace the likes of Williams, Evans, Conway and Samuel with quality rather than worry about bringing in competition for Raya which to me seems pretty unnecessary.
  11. Raya is very good keeper imo and not far short of developing into an outstanding one. Fielding would undoubtedly be an upgrade on Leutwiler and if he is happy to come just to sit on the bench fair enough but I doubt that and overall it seems a very strange move to me, I'd have thought we had other areas that were a far greater priority.
  12. That's all he did! Doesn't offer anything much these days imo and in fact hasn't done for a couple of seasons at least. The money would be far better spent elsewhere for me.
  13. I've been watching Rovers 47 years, I Don't get a free season ticket. We're a football Club not a charity!
  14. It seems to be the general consensus within football that he is an excellent coach but a poor man manager.
  15. We all love each other really.
  16. I'd have thought that iin general f you can afford £280 up front you can afford £320 and if you can afford £33 p.m. on DD you can afford £38 p.m. etc. Guess we'll know when the final figures are released. Hope you enjoyed your experience at Ewood on Saturday btw. Will we be seeing you at Ewood 5 or 6 times next season when your busy social calendar permits?
  17. I assume you've got your tongue buried firmly in your cheek with that comment but it's still a bit harsh. A lot of people have a very strange definition of "riches" if working hard to make ends meet and at the same time juggling it with looking after your wife who's been ill is the yardstick!
  18. Unbelievable. That's Hodgson, Moyes, Pardew, Carvalhal, Lambert and McClaren who have found work in the last twelve months. Some of them were bound to survive if only on the basis only three can go down. I know a couple of QPR fans who are friends of a friend. Bet they're absolutely gutted.
  19. Thank goodness for that. We might be trampled underfoot in the rush to sign him otherwise. Not done enough for me overall but did have a decent scoring run at one point. I'd let both him and Conway go and look further afield.
  20. You Don't have to dig a hole for yourself by laying bare every last detail of your life history every time some one winds you up. By doing so, whilst what you say is quite correct, you come across a bit holier than thou and only encourage people to try to wind you up even further. What you do with your time and money and how you lead your life is absolutely nothing to do with anyone else and if you think a £50 p.a. rise is not a lot you're entitled to say so and for what it's worth I agree. Judging by my walk down to the ground Saturday I wouldn't mind betting many in attendance spent not too far shy of £50 on ale before and after the game. Good luck to them, it would be rude not to given the occasion and with it being a sunny Bank Holiday as well. However There's a bit of a difference in commitment in signing up for a 23 game season ticket and rocking up once a year for a promotion **** up in the sun when it's a tenner. I still Don't think the price in itself will deter people although I could be wrong. If there isn't a very decent increase in numbers following promotion then obviously the balance isn't quite right.
  21. Aren't we all jim? However, if we're talking about being "flippant" you started it by mentioning food banks when clearly anyone unfortunate enough to be in a situation whereby they currently have to use one Can't afford a season ticket whether or not Rovers implement a price increase.
  22. Why? It's also extremely patronising assuming that Blackburn is this poverty ridden hell hole where everyone has to use food banks and no - one between the ages of 18 and 25 can afford a normal price ticket. There's a cheaper 18-21 ticket anyway.
  23. Went into renew earlier and the guy in the Club shop said that the Direct Debit Scheme is now back with Zebra Finance and as such the scheme is no longer anything to do with the Club. He said I should get an e-mail from them in a couple of days with the details and if anything is inconvenient such as the monthly payment date etc you can probably ring them to amend it. If the figures released from the Club are correct I'l be paying 9 lots of £37 something for my ST in the Riverside which has a headline price of £319 then there is usually an annual cost of about £20 for the privilege of paying by DD. Hope we Don't end up with a flipping Zebra on the front of our shirts again though!
  24. The lack of maintenance on the ground has been a feature for many years not just during Venky's period of ownership. John Williams used to freely admit at the Fans Forum that there were jobs needed doing on the ground but that these were being overlooked because there were more pressing priorities, I.e. putting a competitive Premier League side out on the pitch.
  25. Yes, 3 days into the close season and one near meltdown already. Next one will probably come soon when Nixon or someone similar runs a story claiming that club X are big admirers of Dack and "could" be ready to make a swoop for him in a deal worth a half eaten mars bar and a box of liquorice allsorts.
