  1. (Puts on Lloyd Grossman "Through the keyhole" voice) "Who would work with a Coach like that?"
  2. The Coventry experience doesn't fill you with confidence even as a number two.
  3. Yeah, there was quite a bit of talk about him for the ROI job when it last came up. Apparently the Irish FA is in a right state and most Irish commentators regard Duff as someone who doesnt suffer fools gladly - and that's putting it mildly. They said he wouldn't last 5 minutes in that job. So for the same reason cant see it happening here either. Might be hugely entertaining while it lasted though.
  4. I hope it doesnt. It makes no sense whatsoever to be interviewing Boateng either as a potential Head Coach or as an assistant without having a HC in place.
  5. Agree. Whilst Im sure most of the fanbase would regard the last 2 head coaches as roaring successes, Waghail probably feel quite hard done to in the above respect. I bet they're gagging for another Mowbray type who is content to plod along in 12th to 15th drawing his salary and who wont put them under any pressure regarding new signings or contract renewals etc.
  6. If you're on about Cooper, it was said on Talksport this morning that he wasnt ready to return to the game yet.
  7. I dont even want Lowe to be appointed permanently but completely agree. I did joke the other day that the most likely thing to get Lowe removed would be winning four on the bounce........
  8. I didnt really take mentions of Boamorte and Boateng seriously but if either of those 2 are appointed its impossible to view it as anything other than downright sabotage. In Boateng's case at age 49 he has zero managerial experience at a meaningful level. Last role was less than 5 months at Coventry as head coach, they bombed, then he was sacked when Lampard was brought in. And for the poster who said look out for a Boro/Birmingham/Coventry link he had 6 years as a player at Boro then the ill fated spell at Coventry recently. Got the stench of HSH and Waggott all over it.
  9. Suspect you've nailed it there in as far as it's possible to do so Ian. Excellent stuff on Talksport btw.
  10. What is it in their conduct over the last few years that suggests to you either management or owners DO want promotion?
  11. They often seem to get paid off over a period of years these days.
  12. Nah, leave him where he is, he's doing badly enough thank you very much.
  13. Might seem that way now to some, but not if we lose a couple. "it's yours until we lose one" might work. If he is exceptionally successful there'll come a natural cut off point after which the odd bad result shouldn't matter.
  14. If Nixon is to be believed, around 150 of them already have!
  15. That's that one crossed off then.
  16. Well, we've not appointed anyone in employment since Appleton so the odds favour us appointing someone unemployed to avoid having to pay compensation. Appleton isnt the best example to use in favour of appointing anyone in employment admittedly.
  17. I think the question is not "Wiil they be interviewed?" it's "Why would we even bother" Chaddy.
  18. So 1) Foreign 2) Crap. (And cheap) 3) Unemployed ?
  19. Might be the one occasion when our aversion to spending money turns out to be a blessing in disguise.
  20. However they "used to" go beyond it upon request - for Armstrong/Gallagher/BBD etc etc. What we really need is for them to do "a Jack" and say "Here Jurgen, what are you doing pissing about in an office at Red Bull? Get your arse over here and get back to what you really love doing". Instead they now appear to be complely indifferent to us (at best) and we're far more likely to end up with George Boateng.
  21. A play off chasing Club having its manager walking out at this stage of the season must be fairly unprecedented. Having said manager walk out to join a Club in 21st even more so and as such it's brought the welcome glare of the National spotlight onto the owners tenure for the first time in many years. I think that spotlight needs to stay fixed firmly in position and the appointment of Gerrard would certainly achieve that for as long as he was here whether he was a resounding success or a massive disaster. For that reason alone I cant see Waghail opting for Gerrard, let alone the fact that the likely cost would have Waggott choking on his cornflakes. The more I think about it, the more I'm warming to the idea though, especially given some of the other names mentioned in the betting. We just need someone to come in and not change too much but have the players motivated enough to run through a brick wall until the end of the season.
  22. Dont know. I didnt listen to the show this morning, sorry. Sadly in a way the two wins have probably taken the heat off the owners somewhat.
  23. It will only be relatively nominal won't it? 300k sort of level?
  24. If they cant attend when King Kenny is here, they're never likely to are they?
  25. Probably been said already but what a horrific list that is. We have a more or less unique opportunity (on a short term basis at least) and that's the best we can do? If theyre the best 12 names, god help the other 138 alleged applicants. Out of those 12 I'd only be reasonably happy with Duff or Gerrard ( neither of whom seem likely to me) or ok with O'Neil and Carsley. The other 8 I'd be gutted with.
