  1. I'm failing to see any reason to buy one other than habit/blind hope. Absolutely everything is pointing to a further lack of investment in the playing squad, more neglect of our club and very likely a season ending with relegation to League 1.
  2. Probably the dullest game of football I've seen this season. And I've not missed a Rovers match.
  3. What he achieved with what he had available to him was nothing short of remarkable. The tragedy is that it would have only taken a very modest bit of investment to take us back to the promised land. In reality, the exact opposite of that happened.
  4. I was only 11 or 12, so watching it on Sky with my mates was my only option. But I'll never forget that emotional rollercoaster. Or walking down to Ewood after the game for the impromptu celebrations! Rovers in '95, then England's Euro '96 campaign the year after - 2 of the best summers of football I'll probably ever experience.
  5. I'm not sure, to be honest - JE knew what was coming and couldn't get out quick enough. I doubt we'd have lost all 3 of the last 3 matches, but I don't think we'd have maintained a top 6 position under him.
  6. He's fully on the club's books, recent posts confirm this. Just look at last week, suggesting that Calamity was being linked with Man Utd - after (yet another) display of total incompetence. He blocked me a long time ago for calling out the obvious flaws in a number of his 'stories'. Red top rag gossip merchant, nothing more.
  7. Let's hope Tony Coton wasn't there today - we need to maintain any illusion of basic level competence for a chance of offloading him. However, there was never anything in the story in the first place, just Nixon putting out a fluff piece. The first one looked soft today, but his actual diving technique for the second was beyond amateur. Play Toth, for God's sake. He must be sat on the bench wondering who Pears has intimate photos of.
  8. I was surprised how poor he was - struggled with basic passing and movement. You cannot tell me that we don't have better players in the Academy. I played LW in a charity match at Ewood last year and I was genuinely several shades better than ACD was today.
  9. You know what? I'm glad we're out of the play off picture - we'd be absolutely embarrassed against the better sides of the division. Last 3 games against the dregs of this division and we've lost all 3. We are going down next season, put your mortgage on it.
  10. Surely you're trolling? Pears has been the single weak point and reason we've conceded goals and lost games, far too often - and very much recently. Dennis has been decent, as has Dolan. But we need to step it up a notch in the 2nd half. Cardiff are atrocious and even we should be beating them quite comfortably. Wasting time after 5 mins is beyond embarrassing.
  11. Starting to wonder if a cardboard cutout of Brad would be more effective in goal than Calamity, at this stage.
  12. If, as it sounds, VI is writing this season off and planning for next season, we might as well play some of the kids and get rid of the shite. Unless VI is blind, he'll have already seen enough of Pears to know that he'll never be good enough to be a number 1. In fact, he is figuratively and literally a number 2. Michalski Brittain Hyam Carter Ribiero Travis Tronstad Dunn Gueye Tyjon (if he's fit) If the likes of Dolan isn't sticking around, then he's played his last game for me.
  13. Agreed, I was always impressed with Johansson when we played against Rotherham and he would have been a huge upgrade on Pears.
  14. And yet still didn't make a tenth of the regular errors Pears makes. It's not just the errors either, it's the lack of positional awareness, lack of any kind of bravery and his distribution is shite also.
  15. The irony is that I saw some of these fans taking selfies with actual Maggott, at a motorway service stop...
  16. Completely agree. We're past the point of different opinions or takes; he's clearly not competent enough and is actively costing us goals & games.
  17. If Ismael starts with Pears again in this one, it shows that he either has no bollocks or no functioning eyes. And if he does, we'll lose again.
  18. So I coach at youth level and I occasionally do some bits with the GKs. One of the absolute basics is keeping the core of your body behind the ball and, when catching, bring the ball into your core. Pears demonstrates neither of those traits. And I'd like to say that it's an isolated clip of his lack of basic competence...but we all know it's not.
  19. This, plus target Pears - as they did mercilessly, throughout the game. JE knows better than anybody how much of a weak point Pears is and took full advantage.
  20. All had scouted him and were interested - as well as some foreign clubs (eg Dortmund). Palace were just the quickest to move for him. He's clearly been destined for the top for some time and, in fairness, Palace has been a good stepping stone for him to get Premier League exposure.
  21. This is something that I still can't get my head around. From memory, TK let a few soft ones in and then sat out a few games due to injury. But he was, is and always will be several grades better than Pears and should have gone straight back in as our number 1. I'm not one for the conspiracy theories, but it makes you wonder how such a deep and consistent level of incompetence is allowed to carry on week in, week out. Pears is literally costing us goals and games, as recently as yesterday.
  22. I've been saying this for a while - Michalski is an England Youth GK and has impressed me the few times I've watched him. The alternative is either sticking with Calamity Pears, costing us a goal or two a game, or giving Toth a prelonged run to show what he can do. It's mind blowing that any manager with functioning eyes would actively put Pears in the first team.
  23. Honestly, any alternative is better than Pears at this stage. I'd even take Alan Fettis *shudder*.
  24. It's clear to everyone that he's an absolute liability - and is costing us games on a regular basis. Opposition managers are obviously targeting him as our weak point. This season isn't far from being written off now, so just drop him and put either Toth or Michalski in.
