Can't see Armstrong ending up anywhere other than Newcastle. He'd be fine for a lower-half Premier League club, and a return for Armstrong seems to fit the bill perfectly.

Ironically, he'd probably go from being played as a main striker here to playing as a wide forward in the Premier League.

If they want a wide forward, they could spend that £15m on Sam Gallagher instead!! 😲

Always felt Armstrong back to Newcastle would be a likely option.

A £10m plus Dwight Gayle may do a job for all parties?

That article seems to suggest a 40% sell on fee to Newcastle!

So even a £25m sale would only realistically give us £15m to spend on a new players

    +Waggot tax

    +Venky tax

Leaving us around £2m for players.

If we had £15m left from selling Arma, we wouldn't be spending that money on new players.

Are the Preston fans happy with that appointment? Fairly underwhelming I would say

Sometimes these types of appointments work out but more often than not, they start well and then fade quickly.

This bloke is 53 years old, never been a manager before in his life and has spent the last 7 years being an assistant to the bloke they just sacked. Those 7 years by the way, being the only 7 years as an assistant or anything close to in his career and he never played professionally either.

Feels like an appointment straight outta the Venkys top drawer. Driven largely by one factor, he'll be the cheapest option around.

They couldn't have picked a less inspiring choice if they tried.

No club can or will be FFP compliant with no matchday income in 14 months and counting.

We are releasing 15 players and likely to sell our biggest asset for millions.

Why are we worried about FFP?

If the league still hand out sanctions for breaching FFP rules after the last 14 months, it just reinforces thay they aren't fit for purpose.

Oh for a manager who cared half as much as Paul Warne clearly does.

Now that is someone desperately unfortunate from a covid perspective. Massively hindered them with so much fixture congestion.

They so nearly did it as well. No sentiment from Mick McCarthy, who lets be fair will see Rotherham like Gareth Ainsworth would see Burnley, but they certainly had nothing to play for apart from to stick one to a Barnsley rival.

Eh? Didn't you see Mogga shrug his shoulders and say "Doesn't matter if we win or not" the other day?

The man bleeds blue and white!

Not too much of a problem with the starting line up, I'm actually quite intrigued to see how Buckley/Travis/Davenport get on.

But why the hell are Douglas, Bennett, Evans, Johnson, Downing and Elliott on the bench.

Should be giving the youngsters the experience over people who either definitely won't be here or definitely shouldn't be here next season.

I quite like the midfield 3 of Trav, Buckley and Davenport.

    Hopefully it works well.

Player of the Season award should bring more attention to Kaminski and probably put a bit more on his price tag.

Lets remember that we need to sell him this summer unless we can sort a new contract.

Why the hell did he get a shorter deal than Pears?

    Because he isn't from Boro

    Agreed.

I wonder why he hasn't signed a contract extension?

Any investor seriously thinking of any return on their money would be expecting PL football for an appreciable amount of time.

It isn't going to happen, even a one season term in PL would not create a windfall, sadly.

    Just thinking this.

If you invest in something, you want a return. The ONLY way anyone would get any return on us is via promotion.

If Venkys actually find someone stupid enough to hand over millions of pounds for Venkys to make decisions with it, then fair play to them.

After watching the car crash over the last 11 years, surely anyone investing any money would want some serious say in where the moneys going? I.e, not to another HSH reject.

    FROM THE LT comments:

As manager TM will, I imagine. have a list of priorities in his head for BRFC. These will be, in order -
    Survival
    Debt reduction
    Balancing the books

Assuming he can keep some semblance of control on that, the next list will be -
    Sell big-profit player(s)
Buy good prospect inexpensive young players
Loan-in players from (probably) NW big clubs who need play-time for their prospects

    Finally (for next season) -
    Avoid relegation from the Championship

BRFC needs a manager like TM because he can do all the above. He's a survival manager who knows how to work within the budget HE IS GIVEN.

Promotion to the Premiership? He wants it, of course, but BRFC's survival is FAR FAR more important to all genuine Rovers fans. TM knows that.
Ignore the Ivory Tower contributors on here, they're just on here to wind up the real Rovers fans.
Final point. TM is guiding us through extraordinarily difficult times. Now is NOT the time to take a risk on some glamorous spendthrift. Stick with TM.

    Come on you Blues!!

Now if that isn't from a club plant I'll be damned!

    Bloody hell!

That's it then, the height of our ambition, avoid relegation from the fucking championship?

    Cheers Venky's.
