v The Dingles (a) - 13/11/2022
jim mk2 replied to sympatheticclaret's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
edit - wrong thread -
They're so good in fact that not a single one has won the Premier League in 30 years and very few are deemed good enough to manage the so-called elite group of clubs. Why do you think that is?
-
The discussion was about English coaches and their poor quality / failures. Dalglish is a Scot so it isn't valid Howe will probably replace Southgate. He's won nothing but he talks nicely
-
Well done for changing the goalposts
-
No English manager has ever finished higher than second in the Premier League, while Howard Wilkinson is the last to win the top flight, way back in 1992. That's England's top football league in the modern era - never won by an Englishman Says it all really. Foreign and especially Continental coaches know and understand the game better

1960s Retro Rovers Shirts - JUST TWO LEFT
jim mk2 replied to Herbie6590's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
White shorts, white, socks, and the best Rovers shirt of all, with the previous V-neck version second No logos, no advertising. Simple, elegant, a design classic, superb. Should be our strip every season. No change -
Kindly tell the England hordes next time we play Germany or Argentina
-
England should wrap Kyle Walker in cotton wool. Assuming it's France v England in the quarters he's our only defender with the pace to compete with Mbappe. Best thing for England this World Cup is the rehabilitation of Marcus Rashford who's finally getting back to the form of a few years ago. Good to see.

I'd recommend watching the Iran-US game. Some good football and 2 competitive teams Iran are capable of an equaliser and if Wales nick a late winner and England and Wales would go through, which would be great for British football All to play for.
-
US - Iran by far the better of the 2 matches so far.
-
US v Iran has the potential to be the better of the 2 matches, not least because of the enmity between the countries. Ideal scenario would be for a US-Iran draw and Wales to beat England narrowly, putting England and Wales into the next round Few people want the US to go through. Their supporters are insufferable
-
US v Iran One evil regime against another Hands up who’s supporting Iran?
-
As in, the world would be a better place if bad people didn't exist Hoddle was a twisted human being
-
Have you considered why ?

Eileen Drewery and his views on disabled people makes him a complete plonker

They've always gone for the soft option - Taylor, Hoddle, McClaren, Keegan, Hodgson, "English" and decent chaps but none of them had the qualities to be a successful national manager. They went down the foreign route with Eriksson who did well to drag England out of the depths of the Keegan debacle and they threw money at the problem in the case of Capello (£6m a year to fund his art collection) but none of them have worked. Venables was good but was too controversial for the FA blazers. Bobby Robson was a good England manager and the best since Ramsey and was unlucky at Italia 90 England is a poisoned chalice - ridiculously high expectations when the team and the coach usually just haven't been good enough. Southgate was right when he said a few days ago that we have an arrogance about our place in football that isn't backed up by reality

There’s been plenty of scrutiny and criticism of Southgate in the better newspapers. He got some stick for his tactics in the Euros final and the criticism really ratcheted up after the Nations league debacle. All the doubts about him resurfaced after the US game too. Southgate has been good for England but you get the feeling he’s too cautious and tactically limited to take us all the way
-
Rattin was the perfect anti hero for the jingoistic English press. He was their idea of the archetypal Latin American 1960s footballer - crafty in the dark arts, dirty and a cheat. He was also an excellent player. I never thought we’d lose to Argentina but the semifinal against Portugal was probably the most nerve racking game I’ve ever seen.
-
It was a curious performance rather like the Scotland match at the Euros and the second half against Italy in the final. England were stuck in second gear and seemed unable to raise the pace It seems the Iran match was an outlier with the regards to England’s form. We’ve been poor for some time and if doesn’t augur well. We should make the quarters but that will be the end of the road
-
Grealish and Foden are exactly those type of players
-
Even the other half made a comment about the constant sideways and backwards passing by the England defenders. On that display this will be a rerun of 2018 with England flattering to deceive and losing as soon as they come up against a decent side
-
Team needs a shake up. Mount and Sterling at least to be dropped. I’d rest Kane too.
-
Hats off to the US coach. Good tactical performance by him. Maguire played well for England and he had to but that’s about it.
-
England will be glad to take a draw. Southgate has been comprehensively out thought by the US manager tonight
