I'd take Garrett off, he's one young player too many in this team and he looks overawed by it. Brittain can play anywhere because he's a good footballer but left back isn't like right back and he gets his angles wrong. They've sent in some dangerous crosses from his side -

Brilliant goal but Sunderland should have had a penalty -
I'm not surprised. I predicted months ago somewhere on the messageboard (maybe this thread, can't remember) you'd be easy top 6. It's not a strong division and the fact a misfiring team like Rovers are within reach of the top shows there's a lack of quality. Should be an interesting encounter at the Turf next month!!

When he was in the mood Rothwell was a dangerous attacking player. No many players have the ability to take the ball past opponents from deep. I'd like to have seen him play at Ewood under a different manager who either believed in him more or was prepared to crack the whip. We'll never know now but on his day when he's playing well he's been missed -

There's been a couple of occasions in recent matches where his touch has let him down and cost us a possible goal....... but I don't think it's his fault. Anyone who's played the game and been out for a lengthy period would tell you that regaining "match" sharpness takes a long time. I'm sure if he had a decent run of at least 10 games in which he started, his touch would come back. -

Formations don't matter. If we play the same way, with the same negative away from home mindset and the same ineffective passing from the back game, we'll lose. It's as simple as that. And assuming he's playing the immutable law of the ex says Lenihan will score -

I didn't realise George Hirst is the son of former Sheffield Wednesday striker David Hirst. All I can say is he's not good enough to lace his dad's boots David Hirst was an absolutely top-notch striker in the days when Wednesday had a very fine team. He had pace, height, heading ability, strength and dribbling and finishing skills and but for injuries would have won far more many England caps. He was better than Lineker IMO and would be an automatic pick for England today -

Tomasson seems like an intelligent chap, more so than his recent predecessors, and a trait of intelligent people is they can see when something isn't working and they change it. He must see now that his obsession with passing game ideology, especially away from home, doesn't work in the Championship because we don't have the players to do it and it's a tough league full of gritty, hard-working teams and managers who will soon find you out Starting with the next away game, I want to see a change of tactics, or at least a willingness to mix our game up more. We cannot carry on like this because it clearly isn't working. Over to you, Mr Manager -

It's been noted by another poster but one of the basic truths about this squad is that there is a basic lack of quality. Some of the players just aren't good enough; we have some decent Championship defenders but in midfield and up front we are sorely lacking. The manager's tactics and strange selections don't help but there's only 4 or 5 players that are up to the requisite standard. We're destined to be stuck in mid table as long as that is the case -

We weren't good enough to win it but we shouldn't have lost either. More fannying around in defence has cost us again. The manager is to blame because he wants us playing that way. Watching Rovers at present is as bad as anything under Mowbray. Tomasson smiles when we're losing though - which is very nice
