  1. Did Tomasson refuse to change the team quickly last night because that would have showed his original selection to be wrong and he didn't want lose face? Or is he so ideologically fixed to his way of playing that he wants the team to play that way regardless of how the games is going or the strength of the opposition? Either way, his unwillingness to change his thinking smacks of arrogance. It was obvious to fans last night that the team was set up all wrong and many couldn't understand why it took him so long to change it. After 20 minutes, when Coventry should already have been 2 up, Scott Wharton should have come off, Pickering come on at left back, Brittain switched to right back, and Travis pushed into midfield. At least then square pegs were in the square holes and the gaping chasm in midfield filled. Such a frustrating night but typical of the games I've seen this season.
  2. As it happens I thought it was one of Szmodics better games - agree though that it's a low bar.
  3. I understand also that Vale has recently been given a 4-year contract. I've only seen him play a few times but I've not yet seen even a glimmer of a Championship player. If he's regarded as the long term answer to our striking problems then we are in trouble This isn't meant as a criticism of him per se because the whole team including the manager was inept from start to finish.
  4. I don't know how many fans we had at Coventry last night but there didn't seem to be that many (the farce over the venue may have been a cause) but even more noticeable was quiet they were I've never heard a Rovers crowd so quiet, there was no virtually singing in the concourse before the game and very little during the match. Coventry fans took note and duly mocked our fans. Perhaps they were anaethetised by the lack of passion and sheer ineptitude of the Rovers performance but for a team that could have gone top of the league the lack of noise from the fans was surprising And another thing: I could hear lots of grumbling around me about the players' performance and the manager, far more than under Mowbray even than on his worst days
  5. Five matches, five defeats. I've got a 100% record, Tyrone And after tonight's diabolical performance, I've changed my mind and I'm not going to West Ham next week - so we'll probably win
  6. But he didn't, and we didn't deserve to score. From the manager to the players, we were atrocious, wrong team, poor tactics, poor mindset, poor subs made far too late. I was pulling out what's left of my hair watching us pass it sideways and backwards while Coventry's 11 men sat and waited for us to give the ball away without offering any threat. I cannot imagine what the manager was thinking picking that team. Coventry are a very average team and we never once looked like getting at them or putting them under any pressure. They should have been 3-0 up at half time. It was worse than Reading and Luton in so many ways
  7. Can’t believe what I’ve just witnessed. Worse than Reading and Luton away. A promotion team doesn’t play like that. Manager entirely at fault for that debacle
  8. I’ve said it before watching a Tomasson team passing it sideways forever is worse than anything under Mowbray
  9. We can go top tonight if we win. Do the players and manager want it?
  10. Teams in trouble like Coventry you go at them from the start. The way we played in that half was inexcusable
  11. Rovers fans stunned into silence here. Tomasson’s a twerp the team looked all wrong from the start and it proved correct
  12. Coventry should be 3 up we’re so bad. We don’t need a back 5 take the prima Donna Ayala off
  13. That was absolute rubbish manager picked wrong tram he’s as bad as Mowbray
  14. Another surprise from Tomasson’s bag of tricks. Looks unbalanced and lightweight to me but I’m just an old cynic. Let’s see how it goes. My first game live against this lot since 1967 (we lost at home). Come on Rovers
  15. Pleased to see the game hasn’t been switched to Wednesday as mooted which means I’ll be able to attend Jim the albatross hasn’t seen Rovers win yet this season and I’m desperately hoping to break that record tomorrow Brereton is out of form and looks tired and the manager needs to give him a rest. Hoping for a comfortable win but I’d take any win to make it 5 on the bounce. When did that last happen?
  16. Decision by Monday lunchtime, says Waggott So make that Tuesday about 3pm Coventry have entered an agreement with HMRC until December so presumably the club can operate normally (apart from transfers) until then Is there any reason why the match therefore should not go ahead at their stadium as scheduled?
  17. Any news on this? My ticket arrived today - I don't mind it being played at a different ground in the West Midlands but if they switch it to Wednesday I'll be fuming as I'm working that night
  18. Apologies if this had been posted before Match might not go ahead or could be played at a different venue While Saturday's match will proceed as planned, other options are being considered for the Sky Blues' next home game against Blackburn on Tuesday. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/63427703?fbclid=IwAR2tepz27s4EaStrbICXtZ6EP8xF2ihN0D2dQHvIBPU6oFKxyFeMPvJRQXQ
  19. Brilliant video .... thanks for posting The legend that was Gerald Sinstadt......."here is a chance now for Oldham to make it 3-1......." Don Martin was. such a fine player. Better than Brereton. Died in November 2009 aged 65. Too young
  20. What do you think of this lad? You're so lucky to have him - I thought he looked like a future England player when he was with us
  21. Carrick was a fine player - he should have won far more England caps than he did but was unlucky to be around at the same time as Gerrard and Lampard. He was as good as either of them I'll be surprised if he's a success as a manager though. Have Boro appointed him only because he's a North East lad - it seems likely.
  22. Dack has the ability to find space in the box, is a good finisher and brings other players into play with his ability to hold up the ball and play a good pass. He's also a "classy" player What he's not is a runner; he lacks pace and cannot play a high pressing game that Tomasson appears to require. He also needs to play regularly to be sharp and at the very top of his game. I feel letting him go would be a big mistake and he'll score lots of goals at another club where he gets a regular starting place. Tomasson clearly has problems with him but should be big enough to recognise his qualities
