  1. Jesus this is the funniest thread for ages. Just insult all the Admin while you're at it. Oh wait you have done!
  2. Do you have any idea what you are on about?
  3. Oh yeah Dahl Tomasson was really boring when he cracked that one in from thirty yards wasn't he . You may enjoy watching techincally gifted players pass the ball in their own half for 5 minutes, I on the other hand prefer to see attacking football. Incidentally did you see the game tonight? Fiore was awful and he was one of the better players for Italy. Haven't been good enough and quite frankly deservedly out.
  4. It might seem stupid but Italy have actually gone out on goal difference, it wouldn't have mattered if they had scored more but the fact that they didn't means they just weren't good enough. It's rare for me to agree with Andy Townsend but i'm glad Italy are out as well. They are consistently the most negative team in the tournament and it will be a better tournament without them.
  5. 'Cheap' flights are now getting on for £100 so it's looking unlikely that i'll be able to go now with Germany as well. Shame really as it would be great but I can't justify that much. If it changes again back to Ireland then cheaper flights are still an option but by the time the club get round to sorting it they will no doubt be too expensive as well.
  6. It's not a case of hindsight it's about not coming out with daft statements like 'we're crap' and the like. It seems to be popular at times to knock the national side and i'm not sure why. We clearly aren't crap and have a fair chance of doing well. There are other teams that could say the same but I reckon that it's pretty open anda all the better for it.
  7. Yeah and if they ever get round to sorting it out sometime soon there might be some cheap flights left.
  8. Was talking about this last night. If anything France, Holland, Italy and probably Germany all have a bigger problem than us with domestic trouble. However for some reason they don't tend to take it abroad. Be it in the European domestic comps are Internationals. The drink thing isn't the issue as the Germans and the Dutch certainly like their beer as much as we do. Therefore it's a tricky one really and i'm not sure of the answer. Not all the Germans/French etc are angels just like all the English aren't all thugs. However we do have a large number of what can only be described as morons. They aren't hooligans as they are nothing to do with the football just idiots really. They tend to be the same kind of people that you will see if you watched Greece Uncovered or the like on Sky. Other country's don't seem to have the same culture as us the most similar one I can think of is the Americans. It's a shame really as there are loads of genuine fans out there enjoying themselves no end and don't deserve to be tarred like these idiots. It doesn't help all the sensational journalism that is going on. However just ignoring/excusing it doens't help either. Watching a group of lads throwing bottle & chairs and kicking doors and windows in can't really be viewed in any other light can it. Or am i missing something?
  9. It was the main story on the home section of Sky Sports news this morning. They reported that Souness had 'blasted' the board for not giving him any money. Whilst I have doubts about aspects of the story questions now have to be asked about it's origins. Whatever the aim of the story it does seem to be poorly timed and the national press have now picked up on it and or running it as some kind of internal feud. Not good really is it?
  10. If you are a true rovers fan you would still buy a season ticket if we don't sign any new players. Whats the point in spening money we dont have otherwise we could end up in the same situation as Leeds. We ask the club to be honest with us, and when they are and its bad news they get slated. That's the point i'm making really. I think you can see from the attitude of some fans that feel that they won't pay if Rovers don't. How can that be classed as supporting the club?
  11. I suppose it's a catch 22 really. I think this will harm Season Ticket sales but it could be argued that if initial estimates of how Season Ticket sales are to be believed then the club really have no money as the attendances are going to be so bad. The club will argue they did their bit by freezing prices. The 'fans' have shown what they think of this and as result we will get the team that we deserve. If that is a 1st division one then so be it.
  12. It didn't come with the season ticket pack it came afterwards if you took it out last year. If not I assume you will have to ring for one. Returned mine today.
  13. I'm not blaming the PL, I'm suggesting the real quality players in our top sides are not English. The consequence is that England go to a European tournament with an above average team but one that lacks any creative players. When we run up against a team made up of PL stars it show what is lacking in the current crop of English players. England didn't trouble the French tonight other than Lampard's goal and Rooney's run for the penalty. Sure we held France at bay for 89 minutes but this was an England international team reduced to defending on the edge of the box, and deeper, and hoofing the ball upfield. Even the ITV commentary team conceded France were superior and had an enormous amount of poessesion. Talk about Arsenal and who do we talk about? I'm not disputing France were technically better but what did they create? How many real saves did James have to make? That's what frustrates, we didn't play well but we didn't have to. We sat back too much at the start of the 2nd half but then sorted it and were never looking in trouble. Then they sent dobbin on and the rest is history. Forget the penalties or anythig else if Muffin the Mule had stayed grazing in the fields we would have won that game end of story.
  14. The gulf didn't look all that big when Rooney ripped through the defence once more. If he'd squared it to Vasell or we had someone who can take penalties we'd be singing our praises now. I can't see how you can blame the PL when the majority of that French side play in it.
  15. Right ok manchesterblue, i must have imagined various scenes from Marseille fans (not world cup related i might add) or turkish fans from previous matches. It was probably because i was beating up some locals when i was drunk there i'm sure someone will say..... Now you're getting the idea. When you see fans in Spain, France etc throwing missiles etc, or hear of fans in Italy rioting, just remember it's not true, only the English cause trouble.
  16. Sorry to disagree with you again ptholt but you're wrong France & Holland don't have hooligan problems, neither does Germany. It's all a myth. Only the English have a problem just ask soueyisgod he'll tell you, he knows it all.
  17. It must be your illness that is making you touchy. I for one am not living 'in denial', the amazon maybe but not denial.
  18. er...is that directed at me? Who else could it be directed at.
  19. Actualy no it's a yet another thread where somebody decides to make a name for themselves by being 'controversial' knowing full well the response they will get. A poster that has watched highlights last season but has come over all mystic meg and already can tell us what kind of a season we will have next year. Even Jim is prepared to wait till the first couple of games next season. Well I watched most of our games last season, and I'm certainly not "trying to make a name for myself", but I find myself agreeing with some of what ptholt has said and virtually all of what EiT said. I'm not remotely excited about the signings we've made or been linked with so far, I've got no faith that Souness will learn from his many mistakes of last year, and I suspect we'll struggle again next season. The time to judge is at Christmas, not after a couple of games - we started pretty well last year if you remember. However, that doesn't mean we can't speculate and add our opinions on here. By all means, if we're in the top half at Xmas and playing well you can dig this thread up and give me all the stick you want. I'll be delighted to take it. But slagging people just because they post something negative about the Rovers is just childish. My post could hardly be considered a slagging-off now could it and I can't really see where i'm being childish. As for your points well you state the time to judge is Christmas but surely that is backing up what I am saying. I would have a go at anyone who came on now and said next season will be crap be it you or anyone, in fact especially you
  20. I would never suggest you don't merit an opinion because of living far away but if you are going to come on slating players who in my opnion helped us stay up then I think you can expect a bit of stick. As for the title of the thread well yes technically England is cold compared to Portugal but I think that you now as well as I know that wasn't the point you were making. By all means post your opnions in fact don't let me stop you it certainly isn't my intention and if I have jumped down you throat then I apologise. I think you deserve credit for the way you have backed up your arguments if nothing else I just feel that we should surely wait until the season is underway before we start slating the signings. cheers

  22. yes Amo the bloke a two legged tortoise with piles and ingrowing toe nails could outrun even if it gave him a 100 metre head start. Did you watch any of the last 4 games that he played in? If not then how comment, and if you did then i'd just give up if I were you as you cleraly know nowt.
  23. I honestly despair of some people. 'A youngster like Bridges'. If you would have been happy with the signing of Bridges you must be easily pleased is all I can say. Played 40 games in 5 years. No goals in 3 years. Sign him up sounds like just what we need. Why can't people at least wait until we see who has come and gone and see how we start next season before writing it off. Jesus wept i've heard of pessimism but this is ridiculous.
