    Nicko saying Lewis O'Brien?

Goodness me, what a signing he would be. I'd take just him if offered, one of the best players in the Championship for the past few seasons, middle of the park depth.

    Come on Rovers.....make it happen!!

Would be and incredible signing. Miles and miles ahead of what we have now.

Its a real shame that Nicko has as much clue as me.

The share capital is in the holding company which has lent the funds to the operating company. If the net assets of that company - mainly property - are realised in a liquidation, that amount is repaid to the holding company and returned to the Venkys in the course of its liquidation Venkys get some of their funding returned and Blackburn Rovers is just a name with no assets.

My bad. Thanks for clarifying it for me

Let's be clear about this. If the Rovers went into administration tomorrow owing say £240 million (£20 mill x 12 years of chicken chokage), who is in the list of creditors looking for their money back?

That's right. Just a short queue of Indian chicken farmers.

OK certain assets such as Ewood Park, the goodwill and jobs of a few employees and player contracts might be at risk, but there are so many even local examples of clubs rising from the ashes of administration and retaining their identity, that I really don't think the spirit and essence of our club would be threatened in any meaningful way by this.

    CHICKEN CHOKERS OUT for me.

Rovers don't owe anybody 200m or whatever the figure. That's all share capital so unless somehow that was converted in to a loan to the tune of, we would basically be debt free.

I realise that this is probably a totally naive view, but how can anybody involved in the running of this club not think that 25k fans paying c£125 for a ST is better than 9k paying c£350?

The atmosphere aspect speaks for itself and would undoubtedly help the side.

And even commercially, the additional match day footfall would bring in extra revenue.

I’m sure one could argue that we’d never sell c25k season tickets, but what’s the logic in not even trying?

We can’t keep repeating the current process and relying on the owners to bail us out every year.

We need to be innovative and take a calculated risk every now and then.

It's sad that we don't have an organised pressure group any more for these things to be brought to attention and would really implore someone with the drive, passion and determination to fight the good fight again. I'm certainly not that person and @glen9mullan did an incredible job nearly a decade a go and I can understand why you you couldn't invest so much of your being again.

We have become so trodden down as a fanbase, much the same as the country as a whole at the moment, that we've become apathetic and disinterested. The guy running the club is quite obviously way out of his depth and its sad that traditionally much smaller or similar sized clubs are sprinting past us.

The 'Taking Back Ewood' initiative under Williams was amazing and created a great buzz around the ground. I recall being unable to get a season ticket in the Blackburn End without my mates brother signing his over to me, as he embarked on Saturday football so could no longer attend.

Seeing Ewood with even 5k extra fans on a regular basis becomes a self perpetuating circle of attendance growth. People come more because the atmopshere is good and the ground is busier and as a consequence....you get the picture.

Season tickets should be priced at £299 next season and £100 for kids. Get people in the door and they will spend cash. I get lumped with buying my lad a bag of sweets a drink and some chips every game and myself a couple of pints. Multiply that up by many thousands and the saving on STs will soon be put in another door with much higher margins attached.

Anyone got Swaggs email so I can start moaning to him in anticipation?

    Give over.

Once people realise we are trying to get rid of Brereton, with one year left, the offers immediately go down. £8m has always been a laughing stock.

And who would you have replaced Brereton this year with the funds we have? You lose 20 goals from last year and are left with x millions to replace him, after being in the day for days

Let's just say I am glad GB is our director of football and not you. I don't disagree there's a lot of bullshit happening at Ewood but you have this spectacular ability to ignore the cause: Venkys.

Broughton has had 6 months to work with owners who are difficult, disinterested and distant. And here you are making out like this bloke, who has worked in football for decades, is out of his depth. I know you try and pass it off as an informed opinion but the fact is it is just silly and knee jerk

Any director of football needs a couple of windows to be able to build the team and club. It is Venky level of stupid to be looking to move the DoF on after 6 months and not even one full window. So congratulations on entering that esteemed club

    Great post!

  6. In a weird way, BBD having his contract already sorted might help us. He has seemed so tentative in recent weeks and possibly worrying about any serious injury. If his contract is already signed maybe he won't be so worried about it.

On the other hand, he now has zero incentive to do the goods on the pitch for us. Imagine we get promoted and he is already off to La Liga and missing out on the riches and exposure of the PL...

Morton has started nearly every game (think he has the most starts this season outside of Kaminski and maybe BBD), yet has yielded just 1 paltry assist and 0 goals, that's nearly 2000 minutes of football.

We simply must do better, I could see him as a luxury in a top team that dominates possession and has 6 creative players ahead of him. But we are not that. He slows down play, has no physical attributes (speed, strength, power) and has very little attacking creativity. I'm yet to see him carve a killer pass (see Adam Wharton vs Hull). It's always just the simple sideways 5 yarder, or a long over the top chaser.

1 assist/goal all season from the most played central midfielder in a team has to be the lowest in the whole league.

Didn't realise these statistics were so poor. He is definitely used as the quarter back at the moment but as you've said here he lacks so much physically that he isn't able to imprint himself on a game. So often his passes are so deep he is unlikely to ever get an assist unless someone goes on a mazy run. His technical skills are undoubted but the physicality is definitely his Achilles.

I'm a big, big fan of Buckley (mainly because my young son thinks he's a hero) but when he was in the side before his sending off he looked like he was starting to show his craft. His return this Saturday will be key IMHO.

  8. Cheers y'all.

I'm already a member of the Undr The Cosh and The Cost of Football fraternities but my intrest in something more Rovers specific was piqued by a good one ran by some Southport fans and wondered if I was missing something.

@Herbie6590 I'll shall look forwards to it! And maybe a few of us should get together and try and do a more regular gig as there seems to be a bit of a gap in the market, so to speak!

  9. More of a question then anything. I know BRFCS [ir]regularly produce their own wonderful podcast series, but are there any other Rovers related ones that are regularly produced? After much trawling on Spotify and the wider interweb I can't seem to come across any so any pointers in the right direction would be wonderful!

    Cheers!

Id agree but Morton and Wharton looked physical enough against Hull who are a physical side. We know Buckley can put his foot in tok.

Im not sure keeping Travis in really makes sense at the moment. Hes not performing that well, and all the other midfielders are better technically which helps a lot with the quicker movement of the ball JDT wants. Give him a rest and bring him on if needed is my view...

Disagree. We looked short physically in the middle of the park on Tuesday vs. Cov and playing Travis at right wing back for nearly the whole game was an absolutely bonkers choice when we had Brittain playing left back.

I think Travis has actually had a below average season so far with some sprinklings of better performances, but we missed his guile on Tuesday.
